He also ties the new 100’ rope to one of the leather ties attached to his backrack. He will pass on the extra shovel & pick to whoever can use them, or whoever asks for them. If someone asks for the spare climbing hammer, he will also hand that over, complete with a new leather thong attached, Raddok’s safety measure to allow the tool to not be lost if dropped, as it is long enough to use when tied to a belt. He will follow suggestions or orders as to order of march (so to speak) and study their route as would any experienced miner, for signs of passage, use of any kind, possible weak spots, or hidden side passages, as well as for hidden beasties that might inhabit this underground warren. GM: Ack. From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions] Z'leyra, remembering a previous venture underground involving someone dropping her satchel of healing and magical items into lava, grits her teeth and asks "As someone who lives on the surface, could someone who is comfortable underground give me guidance on how best to prepare and survive underground?" GM: Ack. That was a shifter. Looking like Kiet. It was pure random what targets were used. Others like Arawn lost stuff too! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- [New Stuff] [Ma 9th, 1636TH] [Time: 1:07 pm] Z'leyra, remembering a previous venture underground involving someone dropping her satchel of healing and magical items into lava, grits her teeth and asks, "As someone who lives on the surface, could someone who is comfortable underground give me guidance on how best to prepare and survive underground?" Raddok smiles and figures aside from Dorhak he may be best to give advice? But Crix just nods, “as far as we can tell just take it easy. Actual cave ins have not happened in these mines for years.” Dorhak raises his hands and walks forward down the mine. Several lit lanterns light the way. Raddok and Arawn help to stay in front. Raddok for his experience and Arawn for his senses. As the party moves down the shaft it declines slightly about 10 degrees. Many are glad to heave their full weapons back and gear – minus the book. Unali draws her magical dagger just in case for an alert. The shaft is now getting smaller width wise maybe 10-12 feet barely enough for 3 to walk abreast. The mine itself is about 6-7 feet tall. Making most tall humans to bend slightly due to the short Besamer work. In fact based on other shafts they realize this is a lot smaller than the others. The newer ones are 8 feet and it must be where humans can do some mining as well? Arawn studies this and based on Crix's comments figures this was a non human mine but just for the Bes. Shown its age as well it would seem. Raddok and others can tell the walls have been picked at but only about 10% of the other mines they saw in the tour. That may imply the Bes either found it a empty mine or had another purpose? About 200 feet into the mine Barbosa comments, “so another 50 or so feet is where things go weird? I wonder if we should've asked more questions earlier like on hazards or gas or such? Oh well. Too late now.” Pyan counts the steps being a hunter he could pace a animal with his eyes closed. About 40 feet later he grunts and folks become alert. One thing Raddok has noticed is the board work. The construction and timbers holding the mien up is 90% old and almost semi rotten. Based on their looks they've been around for a long time. But it seems some minor amounts have been added recently to fix those issues probably in the last few months. Arawn finds it interesting this mine reappeared after a cave in after a long time for the mien being around. But its a coincidence it seemed to have occurred when they got to Vahear and that Bes cave? Fremea can't stand walking this much. No room to fly is annoying. Both Arawn and Fremea scan the mien for magic but only find the normal mana sources of dirt and rock. Ten..5..3...2..1 Dorhak raises a hand and looks around. He raises a lantern to look down the mine but sees blackness. No missing king or monsters. He wonders if this is a trick. He moves forward and so do the party. As the party move on the air seems to change. More fresh air and sense of life? As Unali moves her dagger makes he feel a tingle but she can't pinpoint the alert as its not danger or a monster? Its something else? Arawn, Pyan and Kiet can feel a slight sensation from something as if hair on back of head rises. But Arawn can't also pinpoint the feeling. It almost reminds him of a thing in the past? What was it... Barbosa from the 3rd row speaks up, “Light ahead!” The party has moves another 200 or so feet and then went down a decline about 30 degrees another 30. They round a corner and shadows of light begin to dance on the walls. The party rounds another corner and light is indeed seen. A dull orange/yellow light. Crix never reported on this! The air gets a lot fresher as the party moves down the tunnel another 80 or so feet. Then the tunnel opens to a large cave maybe 70 feet wide and 50 feet wide. To the right is a sandstone like wall with no signs of mine work. To the left is a rock alcove of sorts. As the party peers closer they see metal bars at the front? They go up from the ground to ceiling of this alcove which is only 10 or so feet high. The Alcove is about 15 by 10 feet. The metal bars are 6 of them places square in the threshold of the alcove set like a door! From inside a male voice speaks. “New folks! Welcome to our end of the trail. The end of the world.” The light here is shining from the right of the alcove enough no lanterns are needed. Smoke is smelt and it must be torches? Dorhak comes in front of the bars and sees a Bes lying on his back picking at his teeth. Based on his hair he is elder Bes and his loin cloth is flipped up revealing his most private areas to the party. He wears a tan light tunic. He stands and dusts his hands off. “No need for that gear on shovels and climbing stuff. Might as well leave them here.” Dorhak reaches for the cage door handle and the Bes speaks up, “its unlocked.” As he walks forward and opens the door and steps out. “I'm Grif Strata ...” he stares at the Diumgi and stammers a bit. “What ...brings ...” He stands and looks back at Dorhak confused why the red skins are here. Then he notices Arawn and Fremea. “This is a ...odd rescue party. Crix must've been desperate.” Barbosa speaks up, “King Strata you seem in fine shape for being gone 25 days.” The King laughs, “days!?!? Its been only SIX hours at best maybe 7.” That's when Arawn realizes it. That tingle was like when they went to the prison entering a different nice or...world? He does the math and realizes indeed a different world – the Lower World! If that's the case any time spent here is a vast increase in time back in the Middle World. They could spend hours here and it be days or weeks. The King shrugs, “yes its not been long. The others have gone exploring. Some have come back...some have not. This place was probably built by some people long ago. Going back-” he nods down the tunnel, “is useless it seems the whatever...portal is a one way path. I hope you bought key?” Dorhak looks confused – key? The cage is unlocked! [Time: 1:15 pm] GM: Actions? Comments Next update...Tue/Wed GM: A short update. But a good fun spot to end. See I did hint the gear wouldn't matter much in the end. :) Keep in mind only Arawn knows the true location you are at. Update tue or Wed depending on time.
