We shall save further talk until our return to your home." [Time: 1:44 pm] Arawn couldn't help but smile upon seeing the unicorn, his love for them reflected in his eyes. Such was his urge to follow after it that he began to take a few steps in its direction before remembering that the party needed his continued presence. Releasing a sigh he spoke a prayer of blessing, wishing the unicorn joy and peace. [Time: 1:51 pm] OOC: As a druid and alfar that would have spent time between the Upper and Lower Realms, would he recognize a Vily? IC: OOC: Arawn will translate for the party, using either the Neutral Tongue or Tongue of Wood. Raddok and everyone else, please assume I've done so and feel free to post. Just remember to let Scott know what is being translated and what is not GM: Ack. Apparently it never go to list. I think it was my end. Fixed and will verify next time. Only the Bes saw the unicorn sorry. I did not make that clear. Forest is too thick and hard to see far and wide. So trees would've blocked any view from your angle. Yes. Good chance you'd know a Vily. I assume translation to Marentian or Dwarf for others. From Raddok: [Re: Update] if update was #140, I didn't see it - will go to website GM: Ack. Thanks for note I fixed. From Dorhak: [Re: Actions] Dorhak notices the group next to them in line seem …. GM: Ack. From Raddok: [Re: Actions] Raddok hears an odd sound coming from ahead. It sounded – like … [OOC: When he hears her offer, he will kinda panic (inside) & look around for help/ideas. He knows, thanks to information shared, that if he stays he will never return to his beloved, at home (although he has not talked about her for several weeks, being as he was boring everyone around him). If offered the choice by Dorhak or the others, he will choose to stay with his friends. In his heart, he is truly in love with a Forester named Gallinda, whom he had interrupted his journey to meet, when he joined the party of adventurers, and he will not choose to desert her. If it will help, & if offered the chance he will struggle to compose a small song/ballad to explain his choice. He knows nothing of Vily, although he has heard of them, as he has of many rarely-seen creatures/beings.] GM: Ack. From Arawn: [Re: Actions] OOC: In hopes of saving time I had mentioned in the last post that Arawn was translating for the party so you guys could post directly with the assumption that Arawn would convey their message to the Vily. But if it helps I'll post below. In the meantime, if I am slow to respond, my apologies. I have an eye infection at the moment and can barely read my screen:) IC: With a smile showing his appreciation to Kimis and Opus for … "It would appear that we've wandered into the domain of a Lady … GM: Ack. You rest ignore the game until you feel better. Oddly I'm starting to get a eye bug myself. :< Sympathy pain? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [New Stuff] [Ma 9th, 1636TH] [Time: 1:24 pm] [Arawn inside the cave...] As Arawn studied those buried beneath the rubble he listened to the soldier's plea. He keenly understood the nature of religion and culture and had no wish to trample upon those of the Bes. "Then may Bes bless their slumber." The guard nods, “if we can find a way to close the portal we'll come back and get the bodies. Till then it is a practical and...personal reason for them.” With a grim smile and a sincere look of compassion he then turned to quickly make his way back to the party. [Arawn quickly catches up to party...] As Arawn jogs to the party something crosses his mind. Sidh and dwarves do have the ability to do inter world travel. Why didn't they simply return? The King was the 3rd group? Maybe they decided the area was too valuable not to ignore. Then again it was only hours not weeks. Arawn nodded as the king warned against speaking of the tome, his face reflecting the gravity of Strata's words. He listened without interruption, committing it to memory as was the way of the druids. "Wise words. We shall save further talk until our return to your home." The King stops and glances at the valley below and the vast forest. “I've not been here in this region...but I feel..a strong presence here. It is hard to explain.” Then he continues onward. [Time: 1:51 pm] Arawn, sidh and divine born as he was, knew well that many of the forces in the Lower World demanded respect within their own domain. Indeed such was the way of the alfar as well, though by his own choice he treated the party and those of the Middle World very differently than his brethren might. Recognizing a forest-lord/lady, he bowed, offering her respect as he was now a guest within her hall. Recognizing the Neutral tongue he wondered at her affiliation, especially in connection to his father. "I shall translate as asked. And I would add, it is an honor and a pleasure to meet with you in your forest, milady," he said, exuding all the charm his nature and training allowed. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Arawn, druid and son to Pyan and the Morrigan. Pardon the intrusion but our situation is a surprise, our story odd, and we only seek a safe passage through to the Middle World." Looking towards Raddok he smiled, wondering if the man might actually wish to stay with the elder being but then remembering that his return home would leave him ravaged by time. "I will ask the man for you. However I would hope that you might grant us leave to entertain you with our tale and see if such might sway you into guiding our passage." From her tree perch high above the ground she stares. “Alfar? I am honored. We do not see many of your kind or at least those who stay for long.” Dorhak notices the group next to them in line seem distracted by something. He turns to Kiet and says, "is there something going on we don’t know about?”. Turning back he squints is that crazy elf on his knees? Did he find some bug to play with and b Less? Minutes into this trek and discipline is already disrupted. He grunts and waves for Kiet to follow as they move toward that group. Why is Raddok staring up and Mournath looking bored? Raddok hears an odd sound coming from ahead. It sounded – like singing? He looks around but sees nothing around them, then looks up into a nearby tree & sees an awesomely beautiful being with wings. He looks at Mournath, but Mournath is looking at the creature, too, and doesn't respond to Raddok's softly saying his mane in a question “Mournath, do you know what, uh – who, that is?” Mournath mumbles something sounding like a perfect ship mascot – the perfect being to represent a great ship or to bless it – but in a wooden form. Raddok hears her speak, maybe asking who they are (which seems logical), but he cannot understand her words. She is beautiful beyond what he has ever seen, and he gulps, and tears his eyes away to see if anyone is close enough to offer some kind of help. Then she points at him, and he feels his heart contract. Raddok didn't know why, but this felt very bad. He hopes he hasn't offended her in some way, and he feels the need of expert advice. He feels some relief when he sees Arawn start to speak to the beauty – it seems he understands at least a bit what she's saying in her musical voice. Arawn translates her offer to Raddok. Raddok will be curious (& quite startled) at the Vely's request & as polite, honored & diplomatic as he can be about refusing her offer, altho he will also be somewhat dazzled by it. Why on all the worlds him? Z'leyra sees Dorhak and Kiet divert off course. She moves toward that area following them. But she misses the translations but Dorhak did hear it. Seeing the beautiful winged female talking with her party member Z'leyra walks over towards them. As she approaches Z'leyra remembers what she knows of such women. Likely a Vily, such protect their trees, demand obedience and can curse those that fail to obey their requests. treated with respect they are often benevolent. She whispers these bits of knowledge to other party members as she approaches. When she gets close she bows her head and using the language she heard the Vily speak in says, "We are honored to meet you. Your kind's protection of the trees is celebrated in stories told by elders to their young. We have no intention of harming what you protect." Arawn translates for the Vily. Then the Diumgi approach from behind a bush. The Vily seems shocked and reaches for her bow on her back but is stopped by Arawn as he explains they are friends. But she remains obviously skeptical. Kimis and Opus are in awe of the being towering above them. As per they where told they stand there in reverence and silence. The Vily stares at the red ones unsure of what they are. The Vily waits for Raddok to reply from her first request and as Arawn translated earlier the Miner suddenly becomes nervous and pale. She speaks, "It looks like the man has not replied. It looks bad for you. Sway? I can't be swayed by words. But I do like shiny things....and shiny men." "Then shiny things you shall have for I do not think our shiny men will leave their path to linger in your beautiful home for others await their return," Arawn replied, dipping his head politely. "I have magic, weapons and jewels. Do any of these things catch your fancy, milady?" The Vily frowns as Arawn turns to translate. With a smile showing his appreciation to Kimis and Opus for following advice Arawn turned back to the party. With a gesture he called them towards him while keeping them from moving too close to the Vily. "It would appear that we've wandered into the domain of a Lady of the Forest, an Elder being of power. She has not taken kindly to our intrusion and is willing to allow us to leave her forest. However, if we choose to continue through her wood, she asks for an offering." He paused, smiling as he glanced toward Raddok. "You." "For obvious reasons this might prove a poor option for you as a mortal. Unless you truly wish to spend the rest of your days here. But I've managed to get her to agree to another option, for she loves 'shiny things' as much as she loves 'shiny men'. I am open to this as we've missing Bes to recover, the cave might lie in her domain, and, if we play our cards right, we might even be able to gain aid, information or an ally. Whatever we choose to do I urge all of you to treat her with the utmost respect. Forest lords are often quick to anger and have terrible powers at their disposal." [Time: 1:59 pm] Kiet and Dorhak hear the words from Arawn. The Vily sees Kiet ignoring Dorhak. The Vily sees Kiet and seems to jump, no glide? Float? Off the tree. It is unclear if her wings even flutter. She lands on the ground and her gown didn't even seem to float up like you'd expect. She adjusts her bow and quiver. Then moves past Arawn smiling and nods slightly in respect. Then toward Raddok. At Raddok she stops and eyes him up and down and pierces into his eyes. She reaches up and touches his stubbled chin. It creates a shiver down the miner's back 10 times over. “You would’ve been a nice ...friend.” Arawn translates as she drops her hand. She ignores Mournath, waves her hands for Z'leyra to stand and ignores Dorhak. By now the King and Bes have come to the scene she notices them as well. She stares at Kiet's chest. Speaking in The Elder, Kiet kneels on one knee to before the Vily, bowing his head before beginning, then lifting it up to address her.  "Your Grace, we will all obey your commands as there are none here that seek conflict with you.  If you could please provide us a guide to allow us to exit your woods in the most expedient manner, then we might least disturb you.  I beg you, however, to also hear my few questions and one petition." She waves for Kiet to stand but ignores his face and looks at his chest. "We are all from the Middle World, trapped here by an odd one-way portal.  This heinously ugly dwarf..." he gestures toward Dorhak "...is our Captain.  We, Captain Dorhakâk's and his crew, were charged with finding and restoring this Besamar King..." he gestures toward the Bes King "...after he and others of his ilk were lost through the very same portal.  We now seek a way to return you our world and homes.  We have information that some caves in the hills might provide some clue to allow us to "I must humbly admit my pathetic inability to understand your interest in this one human to remain.  Can you enlighten me?" She finally looks into his eyes, she speaks back in the Elder and Kiet will translate for others, “my name is Asaria.” She glances down at the blue-green chainmail. She walks around quietly and slowly then back facing Kiet. “Is this Windwall or WindMill?” She touches the armor and traces her fingers over what runes she can see visibly. The Armor speaks to Kiet's mind, “why does she touch me?” The Vily continues, “I've not seen this armor in ages...I can't recall his name....was it Rata? Raka? He was...a respectable friend. He...did me a favor and helped me.” She looks back up at Kiet's eyes. She becomes serious again. She glances at Arawn. “Alfar gives me honor being here. Your offer for shiny items is appreciated. But this...” she points to the chainmail. “Changes things.” Arawn, Z'leyra and Dorhak tense sensing bad news. She looks the Bes King and speaks. Then off to the south to something not seen then back at the King. “The Bes cave?” He nods. “It was closed for ages. It is on the edge of my land. Now it makes sense. I've seen your kind in my forest. By the way one is dead. Not by my hands.” The King begins to speak, “can you direct us...” She raises a finger to silence him, “keep going this path and you will find him ...eventually.” She turns back to Kiet. “Middle World so you seek to return there. Fine. The..” A bird in a tree catches her attention. She listens to its song. Those who speak bird get a rough idea as well. Tells of what is probably Fremea around. “Is that Fae with your group?” Kiet nods. “There are...rumors of a Bes ...structure in the hills. But you should avoid that area. The Pale of Kototh is not for the weak hearts of humans. But yes I've not been there in ages. Not since his forces moved in. The forest to the north is the end of my forest and the hills are outside of my guidance. If you foolishly insist going there look for a eagle rock. You'll find the cave near. There are stories of magic inside indeed.” She traces her hands on the chainmail again. For long moments even after Arawn and Kiet translate and finish she stares as if transfixed by memories. She steps back. “No tribute needed. IF you ...have this..” She points to the chainmail. “You either killed the wearer and obtained it in bad ways.” She pauses. “But an Alfar....a King...a Shamanese.” She glances at Z'leyra. “Would not do such things. Your quest must be honorable.” She claps her hands loudly and raises her voice. 'Eyes forward do NOT turn back.” She steps behind the party's vision. “Keep moving forward....the forest will avoid any harm to you. If there are forces not under my direction they are free to do harm as they are not under my control.” Her voice seems to shift as if she has moved forward behind and higher in elevation. “Before I depart.....I grant one fine question, choose wisely.” GM: Actions? Comments Next update...Tue/Wed? GM: A fun update! Sorry for delays. Hopefully staff will cooperate and we can start early Tuesday. Before do mom's set of final therapy. If not probably delayed again. Last week for her therapy but the following week starts my vacation. Normally off Tue/wed. From Sept to Dec will have Mon/Thur off as well. So that will help on getting updates out. So I need to email Fremea. Till then I end update with the above to make things faster. Need to do stuff with Tobie so a bit of delay for the party so ended above with the question. I enjoyed interaction and the comments. Kiet's stuff was great I actually used a plot aspect I never had planned on till now. So a nice change as tribute would've been different.
