GM: Ack. So you are sleeping where? Unsure of the three places you listed. The smugglers hold (one without cage) has no windows so is very hot and not much free air. [2:14pm] When Arawn approaches her, she just stares at him.... "I do no regret rescuing the slaves. I did not do.... GM: Ack. From Fremea: [Re: Description] Fremea is a faerry. When traveling she disguises herself as a little kid most of the time, so that people will not know she is. She only stands 3' 4" and she would rather be flying than walking or riding in/on something. She actually has more skin tone than most Fae, because she is out in the sun too much for a faerry. She does like the dark way more, but humans tend to be awake during the day instead, so she has to be also. Her clothes change to fit the area, so she blends in more. If someone is trained in combat and looks her over, they would notice she has at least 3 blades on her and her bow (when she not in her home town). Most would also notice her muscles are well toned for fighting hand to hand. Her hair is long, coming down to her waist (well long is subject really), but she keeps it up most of time. GM: Ack. Good info. From Dorhak: [Re: Description] Dorhak's description: Dorhak is about 4-1/2' tall, but powerfully built. He is, unfortunately, also disgustingly ugly. Hideous to all, except maybe the faerry or other dwarves (but even then, still pretty ugly). His eyes are large and brown, and his skin very dark as if deeply tanned. He has long shaggy hair that is normally braided and is mostly grey, but with an odd lichen-green tint. The hair is so long that he often tucks it in his belt. Even his beard is long but only to his belly. His ears are large and stick out. His teeth too. He's wearing a ruddy red suit of clothing trimmed n black over his chainmail armor. He has a good shield on his left arm and carries an axe at his belt, and usually a mace in his right hand. GM: Ack. Our lovely dwarf ugly swan. :) From Fremea: [Re: Actions] Fremea shrugs her shoulders to acknowledge the dwarf. "I have.. GM: Ack. From Raddok: [Re: Actions] OOC: 2 comment re: John's first post date 5/17: 1. I agree that too many histories is a lot of info & a lot of waiting. However [IC: as a stranger to this group Raddook feels the compulsion to give a fairly detailed self-introduction to the group, while they're all together, so (hopefully) reassure them that he is a fit companion for them (& their mission), & before they're all out in deep seas. 2. [OOC] I agree with Arawn that he would translate the "killing" part of his conversation with Mae. For one thing, wouldn't he want to give a fair warning to this stranger about the possible risks of this group Raddok wanted to join? (an easy way to see if scares easily) And giving the info as part of a conversation with Mae, Raddok would have been startled to hear it, but very cautious about interrupting/saying anything - at that point. I remember there was a lot of unsettling things that had just happened, what with arrows out of the sky, an angry faerry, a wolf & a panther (have to look at which type of cat up in notes) GM: Ack. All I'm saying is if we have full life bios before the first hour ends there is little to do in the weeks/months to come in this game. :) Its best to wait and once travel begins to do that stuff. IMHO. From Bess: [Re: Language ELs] Thanks for the descriptions, everyone.I know it takes time to send them, & I'm eagerly awaiting the rest of them. It really helps me (& I'm sure Ix/Rachelle) visualize & flesh out (excuse the pun) this very interesting group of adventurers, so as to respond in a more detailed manner, now & in the future of this adventure. GM: Ack. x From Raddok: [Re: Actions] Response to 18# Update: [OOC note to GM: Raddok will bring ALL his items, with the possible exception of his horse's equipment (which awaits Arawn' s response below). [OOC: I made an error in the #18 posting. It was Kiet I told about the map of Vahear, not Arawn, so he would have looked at Kiet when the map was later mentioned, not Arawn. My apologies. [OOC: As a late entry to this group, would it be possible to have everyone give brief descriptions of their PCs? (Height, weight, complexion, hair & eye color & perhaps their standard dress so I can make notes for later use? - like trying to recognize someone from a distance) Sorry - I know you all know each other, but I would really like a visual reference for everyone. (I've seen Mae's picture in the files.) Should I just go back to the first entries posted for Game #8? - altho' I don't remember seeing anything & read everything once. I posted Raddok's description again at the bottom of this post. If you do post descriptions, they needn't be as detailed as mine - I just have a visual mind & added the details of Raddok' s wardrobe for interest (& because I couldn't help myself - lol)] [OOC: Raddok knows Fomorian at level 24 (consulting GM about this) & has a book (the book he was reading on deck) written in Fomorian as a children's primer to learn Cerulean that has illustrations throughout - it's a basic grammar/dictionary for mid-school children in Vahear) -- (unless the GM rules this out as it was part of a pre-game adventure; if so, then it is a Salaqi poetry book) [~2:14 pm] Raddok asks Arawn (in Donaran/Salaqi), "I believe you... [Raddok will comply with Arawn's recommendation, although... He also adds "I have travel rations & some food items in... [Time TBD by GM] Raddok, waiting his turn to be interviewed, was ... "Greetings to you all. My name is Raddok Rads'son... Here's Raddok's look, in case you need it. Raddok is a tall (70"), muscular (204#), sunburned, fair-skinned human male, with yellow-blonde hair (shoulder-length) tied back a bit with a handband made from a scarf (black, taupe, rust pattern) wound with cords, and a wide-brimmed undyed leather hat with slightly floppy brim, decorated lightly with a cloth-and-cord band with inexpensive gemstones/crystals, painted wood beads & a raven feather (tucked in back where it's knotted in place, all hanging clustered in a foot-long leathery fringe). The hat has a leather-string chin-strap that he leaves hanging loose most of the time, and uses to toss his hat off to hang down his back when he wants if off. He wears a short, taupe-colored hooded cloak (cowl II), a dark green riding tunic, a nearly-hidden teal-blue under- tunic, brown trousers, brown leather boots & belt - practical working clothes, nearly clean. Shoulders, legs and arms appear strong, like he's done heavy manual labor; he appears to have his sea-legs. He's clean-shaven & appears to be one who takes a bath more often than most seamen. Stands with a sense of self-respect, a slight sense (to experienced observers) of watchfulness & the alertness of one who has been in dangerous places, although he's relaxed when obviously no danger around. His quilted armor is tan in color, & his leather armor & helmet are lying on his bundle of belongings on the main deck, along with his saddle, etc.. GM: Ack. Will need to house/sell horse while on trip or feed it while away. As to mistake no biggie on fixing. It happens. As to descriptions did you read the pcs of campaign file online? It does describe many of the pcs and npcs in some ways. From Kiet: [Re: Description] Kiet Sunan is a man of rather small stature, being only 5’-6”, and not very heavy. He makes up for it in other ways. He has a dark complexion and dark hair, no facial hair, and comes from the island of Lemasa. Think Filipino. He normally wears chain mail under his 'working' clothes similar to what a medieval Syrian might wear, carries several daggers, a small shield (buckler, really), and often travels with a couple of javelins. Here is a link to what he might look like, but think darker skin...http://nrgcomputers.com/pbem6/kiet.jpg Most of his outer clothing, though, would be somewhat more like Chinese, but this should give a good idea. GM: Ack . I should add that pic to current site... From Arawn: [Re: Actions] OOC: A) At earliest the ship will be leaving in the morning. Arawn can translocate Ix, her wolf, Corsaya and himself to Ba'ru city today. As you said that it will only take a few hours to ride to the hills he can then translocate everyone back later this day/night or in the morning. This really shouldn't require a mini-adventure as I imagine that they'd all be trying to avoid danger and this is more about RPing/being in character for Ix. Up to you if you want to turn it into a mini-adventure but I don't see any reason for that. Final decision, whether to rely on Damon to deliver a message or to have Arawn translocate them, is up to Ix. I'm good either way:) B) [Yes it was probably near or around Ba'ru city. But what will you 'pull' up?] Huh? What do you mean? C) [You translate it all? Even when Mae says she attacked a party member? Something may not want to tell newbies. :)] At this point the other new members know so no reason to hide it from Raddok so, yes, Arawn translates for the man. IC: [Time: 1:44 pm] [Damon grins at Arawn, "that box is pretty worthless to sell.. "A pity. But some of the items might be important mementos.... [Time: 1:55 pm] [(Dorhak) "We have that smuggler's hold. How can we use that to our advantage?"] "It's rather large and we could use it to set up other berths. I can always design another a smaller smuggler's hold if we have the time." [Z'leyra answers, "Aye, I can craft an image. Perhaps ... Arawn gave a nod, reaching out for the necklace once .... [Time: 2:14 pm] The alfar's face mirrored Unali's when he heard the news... "Slaves have been confirmed to be aboard this ship,.... Other things: [Ship Hold Smell:...] Arawn will use his knowledge in both Healer and Herbalist to come up with a natural solution. The PnP world might have unique solutions for this but otherwise we can work on this by using cornmeal to soak up the excess blood followed by an ammonia or vinegar wash to help break down the remaining blood. He can also cast Ball Powers: Other to create these chemicals if time is an issue. After drying florals, herbs or an essential oil wash should help if there's any lingering smell from the ammonia or vinegar. Luckily the wood should be well waxed to prevent the blood and gore from soaking in. And working together as a team or having the extra crew work on this should speed up the process. [Vox strongly suggests the ship leave in the morning...] What's the itinerary? And we should also work on a supply list to include food and arms/armor for the dwarves, crew and new PC's at the least. [I assume party accepts Ix...] Don't see any reason not to:) [There are 13 berths including captain's bed... With 11 members at least...] That's 11 PC's. But we also have the dwarves and additional crew to deal with. Scott, what's the total? Arawn is trained as a Naval Architect. The main issue being time, but he can redesign the layout of the holds, including a portion of the smugglers hold, into additional berths or (more likely, I imagine) he can set things up so hammocks can be strung up when needed and stowed away when no one is sleeping. Scott, how reasonable is this or can Arawn come up with a better plan? As to the captain's chamber, I strongly suggest that this goes to the individual who will actually captain the boat/do the most work as they'll need the most sleep. [Plenty of storage for gear. Smuggler hold is NOT good for horses...] I suggest we leave the horses in Marentia. Arawn can translocate them to our location once we've reached our destination. [All will speak Marentian... But ther is a issue of Vahear and Fomorian...] Arawn plans on looking for books that can help us to learn both languages for those who do not already know them, including how to read/write them. Kaylle might be a good person to check in on this with if someone is up to the task. [Arawn - big email coming... E. Do you still cast the spell or ask Z to see what was done in Hold?] At this time, with so much to do and the possibility of leaving the next day I'll hold off on this. There should be plenty of time to dig into this once they're at sea. [Arawn - F. Do you cast the Divination spell for the Dark Knowledge...] Answered this in the other email but we have one dead sailor that died OFF the ship so he might not have been affected by the soul banishment - Unali, do you know if we can access this body? Also, it might be worth questioning the sailors to see if they overheard anything noteworthy. [Mournath: Technically your not a super skilled Navigator... There is one other party (only 1) that has Navigation. That person is technically better....] As Arawn mentioned he's trained as a Navigator easy guess who the other PC is. I'm totally find with us sharing the duty, that way we can serve to double-check each other. It's not a perfect plan but we can both get some practice and if we end up a bit confused we can always resort to some last ditch options (like magic) for help:) [I do not have exact trip times yet... It depends on various factors...] Arawn is skilled in Elemental Powers /Water Powers but not Sea Powers (I find it odd that Elemental Powers-Water doesn't include Sea Powers but, oh well). He can summon water elementals to help speed up our journey if we ever find ourselves in need of that, though he'd desire to give them an offering in return for their help if he's asked to call upon them. He's also skilled in Elemental Powers/Storm Powers as well in case anyone wants to rely on these in pinch. He will also state that he carries and enhanced Toadstone, which prevents a ship from sinking at sea. GM: Ack. A) - Roger. B-Probably a dark Knowledge thing? Guess it wasn't important. C-Ack. Agenda? That's up to you guys. As to supply lines teleporting to open ocean is an issue as there is no land mark. So there are dangers to doing so which is why need to plan in advance :) As to berths 11 plus any crew ship takes on from Damon (never did say). As to making new places any serious construction will take time in port to do so. Anyone can throw down a sleeping bag and sleep anywhere. .As to both holds smelly hold is smelly but if fixed there is room but would need some air form opened door. The other hold is even worse like a shipping container no windows. So unless hatch is left open there would be little to no air around in that area. So it'd be stuffy/hot. So for Div still not a full yes. Now you want to find the dead one off ship? Which goes first trip to Ba'ru or this? As to shared sailor duty RPing that is fine. But for skill experience, use and being lost at sea I'd need to know who is on duty when. As to trip so magic as needed not before. Gotcha. As to toadstone sure it may not sink. Doesn't mean it can't turn upside down. :) From Arawn: [Re: Actions] [Raddok asks Arawn (in Donaran/Salaqi), "I believe you... Arawn smiled amusedly when Raddok expressed his issues with the stink... "It will be fine if you leave it here. I can bring the horse gear with... GM: Ack. From Dorhak: [Re: Actions] Most of this is said in Marentian. "Ok, then. It looks like we will be taking a wee boat... GM: Ack. From Unali: [Re: Actions] Unali: "I will join you and as I have been on ships... GM: Ack. From Pyan: [Re: Actions] Pyan is foot 3 inches tall and has a BMI of 22.5, his build leans towards the muscular side. His hair and skin are dark. He the most distinctive thing about what he wears is his boots that have a wood style to them. Other than the books we wears jerkin over a long shelved shirt and summer pants of a simple but well made design. Pyan introduces himself to the group, "I'm Pyandalgor of... GM: Ack. Good description. From Burton: [Re: Actions] I may have posted that, robbed shamelessly from Runequest, GM: Ack. Probably. Glad your still lurking. :) From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions] Z'leyra nods her head and responds to Dorhak's offer "Yes,... GM: Ack. As to supplies and agenda I have no idea. If I make a travel plan folks will do magic! So this is why I asked couple weeks ago what magics will be done. If I get no info by next update I'll assume basic sailing which works fine for me. Then I can come up with a agenda. As to supplies. Seems Dorhak got Kiet on that task so if 2 people do it? You guys gotta figure that out. From Raddok: [Re: Actions] NEW: [Time approx: 2:15 pm] Raddok: "Thank you very much, Arawn. You are making it... [OOC: --? --maybe he is told by Arawn to ask Z'leyra, since he is also going to speak with Z'leyra about learning Marentian through her "spell" or however she does it?] [Time: shortly after Raddok introduces himself to the group & Dorhak has welcomed him & assigned jobs - & after the above conversation with Arawn] - - - - - Raddok is delighted with Dorhak's response & bows, as .... GM: Ack. From Mae: [Re: Actions] Maelorna smiles as she looks at her reflection in the ... GM: Ack. Heh. Daydream took a second or two. From John: [Re: Dwarf's features] He sounds almost comical in his ugliness:) GM: Ack. From Arawn: [Re: Actions] "Do you think you can check on the guard that was killed... GM: Ack. From Arawn: [Re: Appearance] Arawn's appearance - Appearance Attribute: 115 (to humans) / 110 (to faerries) / 100 (to dwarves) Height - 6'1" Weight - 139lb Complexion/Hair/Eye Color - Very fair, milky skin and a flawless complexion. At 6'1" Arawn is an impressive figure - a strikingly handsome alfar, tall, muscular and athletic. Blue-green eyes, the color of the sea, shine like jewels in contrast to the thick midnight black mane that falls to his shoulders, framing a flawless complexion of milk white skin. An aura of otherworldly power and nobility emanate from him c oupled with a humbleness not often found in the true children of the Sidh. And he moves with a regal grace, echoed in his bearing, with the hint of a smile often lingering on his youthful face. Yet his eyes shine with intensity and supernatural brilliance, hinting at an intelligence and wisdom beyond his seeming years. He often wears the hooded grey robes of a druid, trimmed in green, red, and blue (marking his training as an Urigallu/Ashipu/ Baru for those familiar), the cloth and make of exquisite quality, a silver holy symbol hidden beneath (bearing markings of both the Sidh and Neutral Courts, in particular Morrigan and Payan). Underneath his vestments lie shimmering links of elvish chainmail, protecting him from the dangers found in the wild places of the worlds, layered over clothing fit for a prince. His footwear, equally fine, often find replacement with more rugged, yet nicely made, boots when adventuring and a cloak of pristine white graces his shoulders. An elvish bow is often to be found slung over his shoulder or set alongside javelins on Corsaya's pack. And the perceptive may notice the simple yet elegant scabbards hiding within the folds of his cloak, elven blades nestled within and ready to be wielded by his gloved hands alongside a shining buckler of elven-metal. Corsaya, his companion, appears as a beautiful milk-white mare of exceptional quality and a proud and fiery bearing. Few realize that she is in fact a Sri Eponi, a Fay Horse. GM: Ack. From Arawn: [Re: OOC: A bit confused on which are posts that I should have Arawn reply to. It seems like you've spoken to Z'leyra but in case you spoke to both characters... IC: Arawn smiled. "You're welcome. And I'm familiar with Mygone's.... GM: Ack. You're confused? Me too! Lots of posts and where to put them if there are no quotes or time stamps. Whew! Then some dupes and such. From Arawn: [Re: Actions] "I can serve as backup navigator. Considering my love of 0... GM: Ack. Its amazing how one can be in so many places at one time. Sometimes a pc has to focus on one thing not everything under the sun. :) But that's not Arawn's personality. :) So Oh well. From Z'leyra: [Re: Looks] Z'leyra is a 5'10" tall female human. Of average (dirty blonde and blue eyed) if slightly stocky appearance she has wiry muscles, is obviously fit and moves fairly fluidly. Those who have seen her dance know she is far better than average but still a long way from the best at coordination and balance. Under a fine robe she usually wears well made, artistic mail and a Dragon helm with an inlaid gem. She carries a war staff and usually has a greatsword and shield slung on her back and sword sheathed at her side. Observant folk also notice several daggers and a sling with pouch of bullets worn as well. She often has a pack containing, among other things, various healing items. A small drum indicates that she is either a shaman or musician (or both). Not a smooth speaker she apparently chooses her words well for influencing her audience. While reserved she is intelligent, strong willed, perceptive and seldom surprised. GM: Ack. ------------------------------------------------------------- [New Stuff] [Marqi Frisda 23rd, 1636TH; Sivas, Marentia] [Time: 1:44 pm] Damon tells Arawn the sailor jewelry is not much. "A pity. But some of the items might be important mementos for the living," Arawn replied. "So I say we return it to the sailors to dispense or disperse. Hopefully a wergild a other restitution will be presented to the surviving family members as well," he added, looking to Fremea. Damon nods, "this is why I'll take it with me to my ship. [Time: 1:55 pm] Maelorna listens to Raddoks story as Arawn translates and takes note of a few interesting points of his background he was willing to part with. Then the blind girl's response, on what she was capable of doing as far as healing. She makes a note to leave that one be, unless she makes the first move. 'She isn't the issue Little One, it's her pet. It sees you as competition for it's food,' the voice whispers with dark purpose. Maelorna looks at the wolf and meets it's gaze evenly, wondering just how long it might be before it attacks her, like every other canine she has run across. Mae shrugs and shakes her head and ignores it for the moment. A smile creeping across her lips, "I'll be happy to help teach him Marentian," she offers, "As for price, I do not understand the purpose of charging him to learn. I can think of a price I would like to ask, I do not know if he is capable of paying," as she pauses for a moment before smiling warmly at him, "A language for a language," she offers honestly. "Assuming Z'leyra crafts the proper tool as offered then learning languages should prove easy for the both of you. But if she doesn't then I'm sure the two of you could work something out." Arawn replies to Mae. Fremea kept quiet almost this whole time, mostly because she didn't have much to say. She listened to Dorhak go on about secrets and seeing Arawn's unhappy gaze on her. She thought about her position in the group. She really didn't have the anger issues as she used, did she do this rashly, to rescue the slaves? Maybe. Maybe she could have done it differently. Were the sailors really innocent? She is not sure about that. Possibly they did not know they were hauling slaves, but then does that matter? Anyone looking at her, sees her shrug to herself a little. "Many speak of secrets, yet if everyone tells theirs, that will not mean things will not change. I was captured by my own kind and kept away from my family, some of this group knows that. Yet, that seems to not be a matter when I see something that is wrong. I have been trained to take care of situations, that I was told to do, but now I am my own person. Maybe I did jump to taking care of this faster than needed, yet it seems you all are forgetting there are now no longer slaves here." She looks at Mae, the dwarves and even Xi. "I do not regret doing what I did, and I will take from it that I could have done it differently. I will still not hesitate to make sure all stay free." She does not get agitated, even if she did not have the gem on her. Her demeanor is very much matter of fact. Fremea takes a couple of breath's before continuing. "As for my fighting, you already know my skill with the bow, being a Fae I have use of magic and I am skilled in many arts of staying hidden while killing. Many of these were not my choice to learn, but I will use them to do what I must." Raddok, waiting his turn to be interviewed, was watching the group's discussion & relaxing on a nearby crate, when he's beckoned forward by Arawn. Arawn had already translated the discussion, but since Raddok had been twenty feet away for the beginning of it, he explains a bit more about how Dorhak has requested that he is fully informed about everyone's full capabilities & any 'secrets' so that plans can be better made, so Raddok starts introducing himself to the group, watching Arawn (& Kiet, who also understood him) for cues of when to slow down or speed up. "Greetings to you all. My name is Raddok Rads'son, and I was born & raised on an estate west of Pelara in southwestern Donara. I am the only child of the landowner, but I was born illegitimate, as my mother died when I was born early, days before their wedding was to take place. My father ignored me, so I was adopted by his butler & became friends with the estate manager and so I learned the ways of running a large property containing agricultural & forested lands. They are the ones who informed me of my possible heritage. When I was 14, I got angry at my father's continued absence, so I left home to become a Hero & show my father what was what (here he smiled ironically & shook his head with awareness of the foolishness of this childish plan) & determined to make it in the world on my own. I took work with, first, a teamster, learning that trade, then a few years later took up mining, when I became friends with a band of traveling dwarves hired for exploratory mining in the mountains to the west of our family estate. I have also been hired as a caravan guard, as I am trained with mace and great sword, and also learned the shield. I have my own weapons & armor, as well as a warhorse & the equipment for riding. "Also, other than Salaqi, I speak some Dwarf Elder & Fomorian, a smattering of Xianese, & am learning Cerulean, a bit at a time. I picked up some climbing experience with the mining, & from teamstering I learned to pack well & can carry nearly 140 pounds of gear without being slowed down. I'm told my stamina is very good, but it seems normal to me - I just worked heavy jobs. "I have fought pirates at sea - they flew the Climan flag - and I've fought goblins, trolls & larger monsters as a hired fighter & miner. I have helped crews at sea, but am not a trained seaman. "As I told Arawn earlier, I spent several weeks in Vahear last year on a job involving mining incidents, as part of a hired band of adventurers, & have stayed both in Port Vahear & Innanadan - mostly in Innanadan, and the owners of the mine that was having trouble will know me & treat me as a friend - or at least in a friendly manner." He hesitated a moment, holding up a finger to indicate he had more to say, for a pause to consider his next words, then went on. "I learned that the secret of dealing with the Vahear, as with other Fomorians, was to act as if I accepted them as a superior people, then I had no trouble. I did so because I did not want to land in their lockups, or even gain their constabulary's attention, as I wanted to leave the country with the money I had earned for the job, not lose it to their justice system & soldiers. Having the good word from the mine owners also helped. I had not thought to stay so long, but I missed my ship out & it was a month before the next one arrived, due to storms from the south." Then, his face slightly red, he said, "That's all I can think of to tell you right now that has any bearing on my accompanying you. My girl isn't gonna be happy that I'm delayed on the way to see her, but she'll understand when I can explain it all later," & sat back down on the crate, blushing rosily. Such a blush on the husky man made the others smile, although a few tried to hide it. Arawn considers Dorhak's comments on the shidden hold. "It's rather large and we could use it to set up other berths. I can always design another a smaller smuggler's hold if we have the time." Z'leyra answers, "Aye, I can craft an image. Perhaps you can hold this necklace away from me while I do so..."] Arawn gave a nod, reaching out for the necklace once she was ready to hand it over. [Time: 2:15 pm] When Arawn approaches Fremea, she just stares at him for a couple of minutes. He wants to understand or better to correct her from her actions. Maybe he is just here to see why she did it. "I do not regret rescuing the slaves. I did not do this without making sure they were slaves. Maybe I did not need to kill all that I did, yet my training is to not leaving anyone around that can injury or turning the situation around. You may think I did Raddok asks Arawn (in Donaran/Salaqi), "I believe you said you could move our horses from here once we reached Vahear? Is it better to keep my horse's equipment here on board or take it to the stable where he's boarded - that is, if you can move it, too? You see, I have leather barding as well as the saddle & bridle, and I'd rather they were not stored where they would pick up that - odor - from the bilge." He also adds "I have travel rations & some food items in my pack that I just picked up here yesterday. I will add the items that won't store beyond the voyage to our food supplies. I am willing to go get any supplies we need, although since I don't yet know the language, I might make a better dogs body & just carry what others pick up. "Also, if there's someone who can help me learn your group's common language, let them know I can pay them for their time." Z'leyra reminds group of escaped officer. The alfar's face mirrored Unali's when he heard the news of the escaped sailor. The man had plenty of time to be secreted out by now. And if not then trying to break into the embassy to retrieve the guard could spark political tensions between Marentia and Fomoria, at the least. "Slaves have been confirmed to be aboard this ship, something that the ambassador and the guard would know of. This should allow the Marentian forces to pressure for the man to be released into their custody. And retrieved if necessary." He looked to Unali before continuing. "Do you know if this is being looking into or if it can be?" Unali considers this. Vox didn't know of this situation at the top so probably would need to be informed. She'll have to send a message or contact him. Arawn smiled amusedly when Raddok expressed his issues with the stink of the bilge. "It will be fine if you leave it here. I can bring the horse gear with me when I collect the horses." "Also, if there's someone who can help me learn your group's common language, let them know I can pay them for their time. "] wouldn't worry about the food. An actual itinerary has yet to be discussed and we have more than enough funds to see to supplies. But if there's anything of a more personal nature you'd like to acquire before heading out let one of us know. We can accompany you until you've a chance to learn Marentian. And as to learning that, you should speak with Z'leyra," he said, nodding his chin the direction of the shamaness. "She's fluent in Salaqi as well as Donaran… in fact most of us are... and she has a means to allow you to learn languages quickly." Fremea shrugs her shoulders to acknowledge the dwarf. "I have been on ships before, I am able to help out. As for attacks, yea I can always help to stop them. I can also be in the Crow's nest, since I can see anything coming for a long way off. As for sleeping, I do not take much space. I will be here before we leave." Unless something else is needed, she will take off to go visit her parents and Kaylle. "Ok, then. It looks like we will be taking a wee boat trip. Now, we need to remove the boat by daybreak tomorrow. We will need supplies of food and water. Damon!" He looks over to the captain and says "We'll take your four crew. Can you also help with where to get the supplies? And, you. Kiet. Will you have time to gather and pay for the supplies? I’m sure you will want to go get your personal items first, but there should be plenty of time for that." "Mournath! You can be our navigator, but I suggest you keep us near as is wise to shore. Don’t crash into anything. I can’t swim." "Arawn! Please take my kin back to Ba'ru, and Ix can go with you. You said you could rejoin us later. How you plan to do that is unbelievable, but the others here seem to take that as a fact." Dorhak mumbles about elvish magic. Then he looks to the dwarves and says in Dwarf Elder "My friends. When we return from our quest for vengeance, I swear by Dvallin that I will sell this boat and share with you all equally the proceeds. Let us all hope we, and it, all come back. Also, I would feel a great deal better if you would serve as backup navigator." Arawn's eyes smiled in affirmatively. "I can serve as backup navigator. Considering my love of the sea I have a feeling I'll be juggling several positions alongside that, from sailor, shipwright to cook at the least. And I'll leave as soon as possible with the dwarves and Ix. However I don't speak dwarf elder so unless a translator accompanies or we share a common tongue I may need someone to allow me to connect with them to learn dwarf. I also suggest we make sure they have time to see Z'leyra's illusion of the man that sold them out as well. No need for them to find themselves in the same mess. Actually, if we can find this man we might be able to see I f he knows more about this. But your call on this as he might require time to track down if he's not in the locale. As to rejoining, short of any disruption, my plan is to translocate back here by dawn. If I should miss this window there are other ways to track you down but I'd prefer less complicated methods. The easiest would simply be to ask, what's the itinerary? I can meet you at the next port." Damon frowns, "so I'm not taking them home? I figure dwarf and sailors who jailed them might be a object lesson for the sailors to deal. But fine less work for me." Damon leans over and whispers, "good luck with that. This group tends to bring death and destruct-" Damon stops when he realizes he is talking to one of sailors to lend to the group. "Oh mate..I was joking!...I'm sure you'll be fine." Then under his breath. "Just leave your Will with the chief back at our place." Then he slaps the man's back. "It will be a fine adventure!" The dwarves murmur and then the elder approaches. "Dorhak. We will return but one of us wishes to join you. He has no family back home. He is a skilled fighter." Then the elder approaches and whispers under his breath. "There was a bit of trouble back home with him and others. He'd be...not happy back home." Then steps back. "What do you say?" Dorhak answers and then continues. Damon speaks louder, "supplies can be done down the dock. But last time I ahh..was there I kinda may have ticked folks off. To get the 2 sailor to chase me and you." He looks at Dorhak. "So I'll just give Kiet the directions." Dorhak continues, "Fremea! I don’t really have any tasks for you, but should we run into problems out there with another ship, your shooting ability may save us. I hope you will choose to join us. I’m sure you have some things to take care of before we leave. Your ability to be sneaky should also be valuable." "Ix! I have no idea how to use you here, but you've proven you can survive on your own. Also, your, um, pet there, he (she?) plus your magic show you might be useful. Besides, I would not deny you the opportunity to get your vengeance." "Mae!" Dorhak samples an unpleasant smile but, then, none of his are pretty. "Are you willing to come along? I don’t know what you might get out of it, but let this be a sign that we are even. Will you need to gather anything? "Pyan! Your tracking skills might come in handy, as might your mighty hunting skills. Besides, I like you. You're quiet for a human. Will you need to gather your things?" "Unali! You will want to report back to you 'friend' what we have learned here today and what we plan to do. I hope you will join us. I know I would not want to face you in a fair fight, and I expect we shall see some fights." "Z'leyra! Would you accept the roll of First Mate? I doubt anyone would give you any grief. And sad it would be for the man that was so unwise as to do so! Also, will you have time before we leave to make your new language learning rope?" Dorhak switches to Dwarf Elder, as a courtesy to this new human. "You! Raddok! I hear your desire to go and am happy to see such in a human. In my experience it is a rare thing. Be welcome, and may you return fully resolved in your quest for justice." Dorhak smiles again, causing a few to cringe. "But learn the local language as you can. If they can make their little learning device, all the better. I even used it myself." "Remember! We leave at sunup tomorrow. Anyone not here, and ready to go (except Arawn and Ix) will be left behind. I don’t want to annoy the locals. We can decide on the final destination on the way." Unali replies. "I will join you and as I have been on ships around here before, I know the ropes a little bit, so I can help out during the trip. Just now, I will report back the foreign connections we found and see if surveillance of that last slaver agent can be taken up by local authorities. If we can sail of tomorrow I am sure some people will be more relaxed around here." "Do you think you can check on the guard that was killed off ship, the one that was being chased by Damon and Dorhak?," Arawn asked. "I'd like to see if I can access the body for questioning if things don't work out with those killed aboard ship." Pyan introduces himself to the group, "I'm Pyandalgor of the Omavor, A skilled hunter and humble story-teller. I'm proficient with the bow, spear, dagger and the sling and have some skill with javelins, and the pike and just recently learned the use of swords. I know how to survive off the lands of plains, forest, and hills, thou I have some magical trinket that makes food, and I have some still at tracking." Ix perks up, Omavor is a bit close to her home. At least more than Ba'ru or Marentia. Z'leyra nods her head and responds to Dorhak's offer. "Yes, I accept the position of first mate. While my seamanship can be improved and I should learn navigation I do have a variety of skills that should assist in your captaining of this vessel." "I will go to my manor, organize supplies and work my magics so that I can be back here at the break of dawn equipped for travel and hopefully with a new language necklace. Those not staying on board or at some other location may spend the night at my manor where we shall be served dinner and an early breakfast." "How long a voyage do we supply for? What supplies do we already have? I shall have my staff contract for the difference to be delivered shortly after daybreak." Raddok replies to Arawn on helping with horse and languages. "Thank you very much, Arawn. You are making it much simpler for me. I will need time to fetch my horse's gear to the stable. Do you know where Mygon's Hostelry" is located? I need directions, or maybe I should go with someone else who can show me where it is, & then I can help carry any supplies back to ship. [you can substitute another stable's name if there is a stable/hostelry that the group uses or is familiar with. Or, if for some reason, the estate is used for 'storing' horses & gear, Raddok's horse & gear could be moved there; he amenable to whatever best works for Dorhak's time schedule] Arawn smiled. "You're welcome. And I'm familiar with Mygone's. I can take you unless Ix wishes to depart immediately. Otherwise I'm sure one of the others can serve as a guide and translate for you. After you gather your gear you can probably keep both horse and gear at Z'leyra's place as she offered it to you and the other new companions. It'll make gathering the horses later easier for me." When Raddok either receives directions (to stable), or is given someone's name to ask for directions, he will then go over & ask Z'leyra if he can speak with her for a few minutes: (in Salaqi/Donaran) "Z'leyra, forgive me for interrupting. I know that Master Dorhak has given you a lot work to do, but I need a couple minutes of your time. I have questions." He quickly explains about the need to take his horse's gear to the stable where it's boarded. "As for anything I personally need for the journey, I am already sufficiently supplied, except that I could use a new soapstone or an equivalent for washing - I can get pretty ripe if I don't bathe." He pauses for a moment, not wanting to tie her time up, but he wants to get the language business out of the way, if he can, especially since both Arawn & Dorhak wanted it. Having thought about it, Raddok, having listened to Arawn's suggestion, was feeling that it sounded a heck of a lot faster & easier to learn a language by magical means than by constantly drilling oneself in foreign grammars & pronunciation, so he asks the shaman: "If you can find time to possibly use your special means (magic or whatever) to teach me Marentian, I would greatly appreciate it. I can pay you if there's a fee, if it's not too expensive, & I'll gladly help out in any way I can on this voyage. In fact, if it's arranged that I go with someone to the stable where my horse is, to store my gear, I'll stay with him or her & carry any supplies they are picking up for you all, if you wish. I'll get my soapstone at the same time. I had my weapons checked, cleaned & sharpened in Ba'ru & haven't used them, so they are ready. He looks quickly at the stairs going down, & nods that direction. "I was using the cabin a couple doors down from the Captain's, sharing it with a minor ship's officer. I don't know where you will want me now, but I cleared out of it, my gear's now on deck if you want to re-assign the cabin…" He looks a little hopefully at her, and backs up a step with a short bow to show he had finally stopped talking, & then grins at his own wordiness - after weeks of not having much conversation, he seemed to be making up for lost time. Standing upright, he backs up a few more steps, away from the next person in line with questions, awaiting her instructions. Raddok is delighted with Dorhak's response & bows, as to a clan chief, with pleasure. He is used to the sometimes somewhat- ugly appearance of many of this sturdy race, and Dorhak's appearance, if uglier than those others he had met, didn't really affect him much once he had watched him for a few minutes. He admired the way Dorhak had shouldered his new responsibility so quickly, & had been both surprised & impressed. He suited his name of Red Wall. Appearance apart, Raddok knew from experience that the look in the dwarf's eyes was what was important to note, not odd-looking noses, jaws, chins, or the scary smiles, of the race - any approval or warning in those eyes is what was worth noting, and he was grateful for the compliment the new group leader had given him. And relieved. He smiled to himself - indeed, that fierce, toothy smile on their leader's face might be a very good thing in some situations. For the first time, he begins to really think & feel - not just hope - that he had found boon companions here, & for the duration of this mission. He thanked the Dwarf in a few words & starts mentally planning his next priorities, per Dorhak's suggestions & orders, and notes Arawn, Kiet, & Z'leyra's positions, studying them and how they seemed to respond to those others now around them. He is now feeling quite energized & eager to assist however he can. Maelorna smiles as she looks at her reflection in the mirror running her delicate fingers along her pale cream coloured skin almost glows in the light. Granted some would consider her statuesque at six feet in height, she preferred the term voluptuous. A moan coming from the bed behind her reminded her that her meal was still very much alive. She turns to look at the victim on the bed and her lips curl into knowing smile and her eyes shine with a playful promise. "Now then, care to tell me again how many holes your going to make in my body and then abuse those holes until there was nothing left of me?" she giggles, You wouldn't believe how hungry that talk makes me," as she looks at the struggling man hungrily. Maelorna blinks from her musing and realizes that Dorhak had said something, she vaguely recalled the question and nods, "If you'll have me, with luck this time we'll not have to deal with what we had before yes?" she offers, "Also, we leave at first light? Or are we delayed until Arawn & the blind one return?" [Time: 2:42 pm] Later, once folks break up the group, Maelorna sighs as she looks at the ship, the smell she could ignore, considering the times she had to hide in the sewers and sleep there. Bile and body odor weren't here desired scents but she could ignore it. Since it appeared most of her companions were going about their own business, she looked about for a possible berthing. 'Great, back aboard a ship, tell me Little One, are you going to make these sailors your toys as well? I can help if you just let me,' the voice whispered with a teasing giggle, 'No, keep quiet, I don't need toys nor pets at the moment and you would get me killed if we even tried it,' she groused. She pauses considering the various cabins, the captains cabin would possibly be viable, but ignores that option, she can see a fight over who gets the spacious cabin and bed and honestly it will wind up as either the dwarf or Arawn's. Plus she couldn't trust herself, not with a companion in her room as the chance her other half taking control and feeding. No, either the main deck or," as she thinks of the discussed smuggler's hold. It sounded perfect for her needs, dark, possibly not overly cramped, less chances of a sailor running afoul of her hunger. Plus she might be able to practice some of her skills while hidden from prying eyes. Awww, but you had so much fun with the last ship you were on didn't you? They were such enjoyable toys. Especially when you let me have my fun, was it the undying love he professed to you that brought out the anger in the other one I wonder?' it mused cheerfully. With little regard for whom might be watching, she sets down her ruck sack and starts to rummage through it, wondering if she had left it behind in her room and brightens up when she finds her quilted armour, still rolled up tightly and bound with a leather thong. Granted she had little need of it at the moment, not while on the water, but once back on land, the armour may be needed. She finds her second gown, with a shorter skirt and starts to undo the stays of her gown and pulling it off, leaving only a silk chemise and pantaloons as her only raiment. Her copper red hair cascades down her back as she smoothes out the gown and starts to carefully fold it up and slipping it into her rucksack. Once she's satisfied with the gown, she slips on the other and laces up the bodice before tightening it up and easily displaying her bosom attempting to spill out of the cotton gown, she promptly kneels and pulling out a brush begins to preen and brush out her hair. Actions? Comments? Next Update....Wednesday? GM: Ok. This one took 4 days to even get to the Recap (old) stuff. Tomorrow will have no chance to work on update so I got to end it now or next week. It is already over 1k lines. It took 5 hours to do just the last 5 posts that came in yesterday. :) Sadly I could not do 'new' stuff. It is quite amazing we've done all this RPing and it has only been what 5 hours? Five of game time? At this point it has taken us 6 months to go 5 hours. :) This is why sometimes RPing is best to wait to avoid the first few hours. :) It is very good stuff but as you can see I've had to delay the last 4 updates due to amount and we've not really moved on beyond the few hours. :) So we can finally move on. I'm not saying to slow down its great! But this is why. So mission is set. We'll move on to evening and morning departure. We have a side trip for Ix/Arawn to deal amd that may take a few weeks of our time. But at least its progress. : If there is no magic posted for travel I'll work up a agenda on how long it will take. Navigators can figure this out once I get word on magic or not. But I'm not going to work on a agenda and have it nixed with magic. :) My birthday was a couple days ago so didn't do much on Wednesday. But tried. :) I'll try to do deck plans and the agenda of ship next week. Assuming I have time to do all Recap/Old the new update will have Ba'ru stuff. Shopping and then start of ship departure unless Arawn/IX are attacked by giants or such. GM: Gear finals Player Notes Arawn ---- Dorhak ---- Fremea Assume take all gear? Ix Assume take all gear? Kiet ----- Mournath Assume take all gear? Mae Assume take all gear? Pyan Assume take all gear? Raddok Assume take all gear? Unali ----- Z'leyra ----- For all gear taken assume all but horse related gear. We have 2-3 folks doing supplies but no specifics. So unless stated otherwise will assume food is on sheets or not. GM: Arawn: Tasks - Whew :) 1. Guide Raddok to some place? ~30-45 min 2. Work on new ship berths ~few hours 2-5? 3. Take Dwarves to village ~few hours 2-5? 4. Take Ix to Kaz ~few hours 2-5? 5. Remove smell from ship ~30-45 min 2-You may need a crew of workers to do some work. If doing actual wooden berths or such. 3-Probably 2 hours from leaving ship to find village? Then time spent with them. 4-Once leave ship (if still with 3) 2 hours before can find Kaz's place in hills. Then time with him. 5-Ideas given was good I have some possible ideas on my own like Ball Powers with magic. Time is now 3pm. Sunset in 3-3.5 hours. Look at math above. :) So which tasks do you do or skip or such? This doesn't include getting supplies and such just those above tasks. Keep in mind teleporting back to ship is more risky as there are no obvious land marks. So I typically apply a modifier for such. for those with homes may need to plan for long travel time. But no data yet (for rent or expenses). GM: Passengers: Party: 11 Animals: 2 [Assume Wolf/Eagle taken] Sailors: 4 Dwarf: 1 [Assume allowed] Will need supplies for each. Who is paying Damon's crew and supplies for ship? GM: Descriptions: I've added a new file online on my site just of the player descriptions. Including Unali's which went to email not here. To see hers see file. That's 8 out of 11 pcs describes. A good turn out! *** Forgot to add Unali's email basically she will report info to Vox. She will want to stay at Z's place.
