Raddok agrees to try the dagger & somewhat gingerly holds it as indicated by Kiet against the wound as directed, trying to hold it in place as the blade begins to vibrate. The wound is at first painful as if protesting the movement, but quickly the pain fades & the soreness is gone. Raddok only moves the dagger away when the vibrations die away, & he stares at the dagger & the closed wound, agreeing it was a very handy thing to have along, indeed! [Apris 19th, 1636TH] [Time: 9;00 am] Kiet checks the ship for who may speak Cerulean. "Our next port is Halle, part of the Cerulean empire. Interesting people, but not sure about them. Certainly an interesting government. Anyway, if anybody needs to use the language necklace for their language, I know enough to start. Anybody got a better grasp of their language?" Zepp hears Kiet ask and stops cold. “We are heading to Decha? It is a very bad vicious haven of cutthroats, pirates and killers. I've heard you'll never find a more retched hive of scum and villainy.” Finn chuckles, “you sound like some old man!” Zepp continues, “yeah well too bad this isn't a Cerulean or Rogizini ship. I suggest we double our guards once a day from Decha.” Unali asks Arawn to speak Cerulean so she can learn and use the necklace. Upon using the necklace she learns Cerulean. [[Time: 9:05 pm] Kiet smacks his head with the palm of his hand when he sees Zabyra has stowed away. Geez. Of all the gin joints in all the world...and she has to walk into this one. Or board this ship. Fine to look at but kinda flaky. Well, at least she brought wine. Dorhak stares at the Dancer in front of him. Why do all humans grin like that? Then does a mock salute and moves to Fremea to hug her. Dorhak continues, "We will sell the wine just as Zabyra suggests. Also, we will replace any lost items like the hammock that blew away. Plus food and water." "Considering the trouble some of you had in the last port, I think we should spend a minimum time in this port. Once all of the repairs are made and stores replaced, we will head back out to sea. If we have to stay overnight because it’s finished late in the day, Fine. Then we head out at first light." [Apris 21st, 1636TH] [Time: 10;46 pm] Dorhak is on patrol at his watch. He briefly checks the back of the ship and moves toward the smuggler’s hold. then he hears grunts and moans. Mae is 2 decks down in the dark bowels of the ship. Looking for rats to feed energy from is harder - almost as if the rats don't like open sea compared to waters near ports. But she can also hear grunts and moans. She knows those noises. Dorhak goes back and forth in the darkness to see where the noise is coming from. He realizes it is the secret hold. He lifts the hatch and quickly descends with mace in hand. Seeing in this darkness is not a issue for a dwarf. But once down the slight slope (no real steps just a incline). He growls at the sight in front of him. About 10 feet away lit by 3 dim candles is Finn naked on his back and Zabyra naked on top of him. She smiles as she continues her ride. Finn glances up and says, "I'm off duty and shift! Folks...ahh..need some fun on a ship or go...ahh..ohh..insane!" Humans! Must they breed like rabbits? [Apris 22nd, 1636TH] [Time: 4;10 pm] Zabyra, Dorhak and Arawn - for the language - are at a wine shop. The 4th in the last 20 minutes. Finally the vendor tastes the sip of Tappora Wine Zabyra 'acquired'. "WE don't get this wine that often. Most folks in Tilal refuse to export it. This seems a fine vintage but its not so fresh. I can offer 23 Copper per bottle." Dorhak considers this he is into ale not wine but others tell him good wine is much cheaper and so called fine wine is a bit more expensive slightly. But for now its the best deal they've heard. Then again its 'free' wine. Dorhak shakes hands and tells where to find the wine at the docks. "I'll send a wagon and someone to fetch it. Once 20 bottles...minutes this one which is less from your free samples to us shop owners...this bottle I can give 15. So that's ..." He jots some figures on a parchment. "451 copper." Arawn corrects his math to 452. "Ahh yes. Forgot to carry that..correct 452 copper. That is 45 silver. For that I'll have to get my uncle to help escort the boy as that's a lot of money. They'll be there in 30 minutes? I'll rush them out due to it getting dark soon." Outside shop Zabyra turns to Dorhak, "thank you. I will now find a place I can dance for a week or two to get money for passage to the empire." She turns to Arawn, "tell the others good bye. Good luck on your journey." She then turns and heads off. Dorhak considers giving her some of the wine coin and a internal struggle hits his brain. They continue to prey on other nation's vessels. [Apris 24st, 1636TH] [Time: 6;22 am] With supplies and a check for new stowaways by Dorhak the ship prepares to leave as the sun rises. One more leg to Decha then Vahear. Dorhak checks the skies the sailors say one can see omens like certain clouds show future storms. But he doesn't see much omens. Today average winds will give the ship 19 miles of travel. Most of the day it is cloudy with early morning temperatures of 35 to a toasty 91 degrees mid afternoon. [Time: 7;49 am] Ship is beset by heavy fog that lasts almost 20 minutes. It causes Fremea and Corona to fly over as well as 2 watches – crows nest and ship fore – to guide the ship. [Apris 25st, 1636TH] [Time: 3;00 am] Third watch has been active for 2 hours now. There are dark clouds above. The temperature isn't awful at 60 degrees. There is no moon and starlight is pretty much impossible to see. The ship is anchored about 2 miles west of the coast. A cool breeze makes the Marentian flag flap and the sails pound the rigging making that tink-tink noise it does. Fremea is enjoying a flying patrol with her full gear and armor. She likes to patrol low on the water to ensure nothing climbs on board. But she also enjoys the night air looking for occasional glowing sea life. Mournath with full gear on Is a the back of the ship on patrol listening to the waves bash against the ship. Z'leyra is in the center front tapping the deck with her staff as she looks out front. The snore of Ardrackle drones on and she wonders how a man can snore and snort while passing gas at same time? Dorhak is the warmest in his cabin's bed under the warm sheets dreaming of being buried alive by gold coins. Mae has fallen asleep in the bowels of the ship looking for rats hours earlier. Ix is in the cargo hold with the wolf. The wolf sleeping his food – rabbits and goats is a nice treat for him. Pyan is sleeping in the northern berth room. Raddok and Barbosa are sleeping in south port side berth. Brutto and Finn are sleeping in the south starboard side berth room. Ardrackle, Zepp, Unali, Arawn and Kiet are sleeping on deck in hammocks. Depending on random shifts folks will take turns sleeping in berths, hammocks or old. Corona is in the crow's nest sleeping. Since it is too dark to man the nest with a person he likes to sleep there. The ship itself has little light. A ship with no lights is asking for trouble. One lantern hangs near the stairs, another by the rigging, another by the steering wheel, one in the center on the center lockers, one near the front – near the rowboat and finally one lantern hangs at the very rear of the ship. But there are great swaths of space with no light. A large 24 foot lanky form swims deep underwater. The black with bits of gray mottling swims around the ship unseen by Fremea. It creeps closer to the ship. Then on the port side a head full of sharp teeth pops up and water drips from his jaw. It lowers then swims a few feet toward the ship. The 8 foot neck juts upwards and upwards. Then as quickly as it rises lowers. The deck is just too high. IT dives and picks up speed. Then circles and moves quickly toward the ship and surface. With amazing strength it jumps like those jumping fish out of the water. Fremea now spots this as it leaps and turns with bow. It is a massive beast with a long 8 foot tail, bulge of a body riddled with fins and the long neck full of razor sharp teeth in its jaw. It has minimal legs and not long arms of only a few feet. But on those limbs are sharp claws. It lands on deck dripping water as it does right next to Zepp's Hammock. It clamps and bites down onto Zepp's lower right side near his stomach and takes a bite outdoing 8 points. Zepp instantly wakes and screams. Mournath turns and can barely make it out. Some large creature in the darkness. He runs to the ship's wheel which is only feet away and rings the brass bell in alarm. He begins to yell out a general warning. Ardrackle who is trained to wake up fast rolls off his hammock and stands. He pulls his dagger and sees the creature and yells, “Sea Dragon!” Arawn, Dorhak, Kiet, Pyan, Unali, Ardrackle, Barbosa and Brutto wake up instantly. Ix, Wolf and Mae remain asleep. Raddok, Finn and Corona will wake up in a few seconds (phase 2). Everyone else like Z'leyra, Fremea and Mournath are awake. [Time: 3:02:00 am] [Phase 1] Actions? Comments? Next Update...Friday/Saturday?? GM: Since these do not fly (no wings) nothing says they can't come ashore or leap on a ship's deck. ;) A fun update but a certain player thinks there should be more danger and certain doom. So as asked for so say I. :) I don't see these things sinking ships but they can do darn damage to it. I'm off Friday and most of Saturday. Will try the next 2 phases then. I still haven't heard from Tobie so I gotta sit and work on my short form charts unless he can save the HD. Speaking of HD these things come in 3. Myself and now Wout. His server pc down. Hopefully a 3rd pc wont' crash (Tobie be warned :)). One can verify this by loading the List Archives if it loads its working. So if you post it may wait a few days (probably 3-4?) and if up will send those out. After that probably bounce. So might as well post to list and CC me for a few days.
