Jordi's mist ends. Trembyl's illusion disappears. Adrenline stops pumping. This is when Kasha gets a bit queasy from his wounds and dismounts to the ground to sit. So does Z'leyra with help from Farseeker and Xian.] GM: On a side note. We almost lost Z'leyra. I have a friend who has some simulation programs based on the old crash dummy physics. He punched in some angles, weights (300 pound for the creature) and figured if the angle was one foot lower Z'leyra would've fallen off the horse and taken more damage. If it was a foot higher from its falling height Z'lerya's head would've been pushed far back enough to break her neck and no amount of healing or magic could've helped there. As it was based on my initial setup physics it worked out well enough. Course the magical helmet she wore and other things she has also helped out. Very close indeed. But she is unhurt other than being dizzy, queasy and confused for about 10 minutes. [Jordi only has a light bruise on his shoulder from his hoove hit by the hippogriff. Kasha has a minor cracked rib and some more bruises. Jordi could handle natural healing easy but Kasha will take a healing spell from anyone who wishes to offer it.] Trembyl: "Well that illusion was a waste of time. They didn't even look at it!" Xian: "It was experience at least." Farseeker: "Yes. They didn't even try to take the horses out. My guess is they were a fearless pack who has enough horse meat in them they wanted to just create havoc." Balrog: "A large pack as well." Caladan: "Yep. Usually I only see three or four at most." [Z'leyra, Xian and others can patch up the minor cuts and cruises. Who wishes to heal Kasha? :) First come first serve experience.] [The party continues eastward...then camps] --------------------------------------------------------- Sepes 43, in the 163rd Year [TH] Location: River Sch (E) Riverbank, Zen'da Plains, 288 Miles North of Asichi City, Heading East from River [Some may think the weather is a omen for the future of an area. If so this day proves to be very dreary. At the top the temperature only gets up to 43 so its fairly cool going as long as the 20s in the morning. Its overcast all day. Around 10am in fact the party sees storm clouds approaching and tiny flakes are seen high in the sky. The winds buffet the party for some time. Then the clouds seem to descend to the ground all their own. This creates a flurry of snow to drop to the ground quickly. Within just a half hour a bit over 14 inches drop in a very rare event (as Caladan can't recall such a time this time of year). But Trembyl knows, being an elementalist, that the elementa can't be predicted. This far north arctic winds cna blow storms down fast. During the ride after the snow storm Z'leyra checks on each person to make sure theres no trouble. Balrog indicates pains in his hands. First sign of possible frostbite. Then Xian comments the same way. Both have no gloves. A fire is started to warm their hands up and frostbite is prevented with help from others. As the trip continues the temperatures raise up enough no more worry about frostbite.] [No encounters that day.] Caladan: "We are close to my home where I grew up. We might get there tomorrow night." --------------------------------------------------------- Sepes 44, in the 163rd Year [TH] Location: River Sch (E) Riverbank, Zen'da Plains, 306 Miles North of Asichi City, Heading East from River [2am] [This hour everyone is asleep. The campfire is kept roaring to warm the cold night as some sleep in their tents. The horses are asleep as well. The two sentries at watch tonight are Thig and Balrog. Thig is in camp watch securing the camp itself and keeping the fire going. He patrols the inner camp area with the dogs. The wolf is asleep with Strie'bog but Thig's dogs are awake. Balrog is on his horse in the outer area patrolling in a 500 foot radius going around the camp always on the lookout.] [That night its still overcast so not even the moon or stars is seen just dark as coal clouds. The only light seen is the campire and a lantern sitting near the pot the food was cooked in. Balrog has a torch with him for helping him see around in the immediate area. While a sentry with a torch is good to see his attackers unfournately its also a beacon to others for quite a distance.] [2:14am] [Suddenly Thig hears a fast moving horse running toward the camp. He turns and sees a light with it. Must be Balrog but he is coming fast. Thig takes to the air and alerts the dogs. He holds his repeating crossbow. Balrog approaches from the west. He storms into camp making a wake of dust. The horse is breathing heavy as well as Balrog who is white as a ghost in paleness. He tries to catch his breath..] Balrog: "..big..." [he waves his torch behind him].." coming...wake...GIANT!" [he yellws out] [Thig hears this and takes to the air. He orders the dogs to bark loud. He reaches into his pocket and grabs a small glass ball that contains a small amount of oil. He drops it right into the campfire and it cracks and explodes. This helps to make noise.] Instantly everyone wakes up suddenly from sound sleep. Everyone but Chion. It takes him 2 more seconds from the shouts to wake up (sorry bad rolls). Now that Balrog has caught his breath he explain a single giant is coming this way fast and it must be "...over 15 feet tall and as big as a house!...its also very upset for some reason!" Normally not kept this close to people due to smell and other falling debris from them but the cool night has made it better to stay at least reasonably close to the campfire. ? = possible location of giant Comments 1. This is the last combat before the real adventure starts. It is a great last ditch thing to get experience but it can be deadly in doing so. It will be rough but at least theres only one enemy :) 2. Thig reports with his night vision the giant is about 150-160 feet out and charging fast. 3. Good news is you have 2 phases to prepare. Bad news is you only have 2 phases to prepare :) It will likely take at elast one to get on a horse after you get to it. So keep this in mind. 4. The light of the campfire only goes out to the left to the 40th column. Beyond that every column decreases chances of seeing by 20%. Thus by column 35 its impossible to see naturally due to the darkness. This is why the exact location of the giant is unknown. Keep this in mind for firing archery weapons at night! Actions?
