She had obviously spent much too much time among humans which would explain the social faux pas. He held nothing against her however and recognized both compliment and appreciation when he heard it, one of the traits that separated him from most of the High Sidh who would have seethed at such a thing. A roguish smile crossed his face almost immediately afterward & there was a twinkle in his eye. "Think nothing of it. It was my pleasure." OOC: Arawn will cast Energy at EL0 until Fremea feels at full strength and would have done so before going to bed. [***Ben'dar's section quote on talking to Frmea deleted since in another update.***] Arawn recalled his first meeting with Fremea and the sad tale she told. Back then he had little time to speak with her, the party separating very quickly during the winter months, and now her words came back to him. He pitied her, his heart full of compassion for one who suffered as she had, and he waited until he had time to speak with her quietly. "I am sorry for your loss and what you have been through. I do not know what it is like to have lived as you do, I can only imagine the shadow of it, but I know something of loss and of being displaced...," a distant look in his eyes as he said this. "I will do what I can to assist you, to find those you seek and hopefully bring you some peace and when all is set aright then I shall show you the wonders of the true realms of the Sidh!" -------------------------------------------------------------- [*** Section on Arawn torching the Dirasa deleted for speace***] Arawn shakes his head as if waking from a dream. He looks around oddly for a very brief moment before allowing his eyes to rest on the now burnt Dirasa. He had no idea what came over him and sighed at the sight. It was a shame, he had hoped to study the creature in depth. Perhaps his reaction was one carried over by his Sidh nature but it seemed almost a madness. Interesting, it would be something he would have to learn to master or release if he were to evolve. He understood the overpowering hatred the Sidh had for others, especially Kototh and his brood, but Arawn had always felt differently, another odd quirk that set him apart from the others. He despised the pain and suffering caused by the Kotothi but did not hold a racial hatred for them. Such things were baggage that would serve no purpose but to hold one back from evolution and ascension. While the gods thrived and died on thier passions, both creative and destructive, his were focused on things that kept him from getting lost in the myriad and complex plots of the gods and their war. His mind was focused on the primordial as well as the future. He looked at the fallen Dirasa and pitied it for the hand Nebeth had in it's creation. While others wished to destroy such out of hand he felt otherwise, there could be change for such beings- what was done could be undone, though how and what it would mean for many of Kototh's creations he could not yet say. His thoughts then wandered to other things for a brief moment, thoughts of what lay in the primordial time before gods and creation before focusing once again on the scene. Leaning down with cloth covered arms he very carefully picked up the remains to pack away for careful study later. As he did so he listened to Correl and Fremea discuss the creature before deciding to speak up. "It is a creation of Nebeths. Correl is right, they can sense our kind from a distance away, less than a mile though so a lair may not be too far off. It would be something worth investigating when time permits." His thoughts wandered back to another a place and time, the serpent crown he wore far too the west, and the odd things in relation to that. He wondered if Nebeth, the Great Serpent, was connected to those events as well. Unfortunately, for now, there was no way of knowing but the thought intrigued him nevertheless. -------------------------------------------------------------- In response to Zhou's offer Arawn will sit in the front row, as he would see it as a possible insult to do otherwise. He will lock away all weapons but will carry his wand, if it is deemed to fall within the rules of proper etiquette (he'll ask Zhou and Kee, both of them) and dress in his finest clothing. ------------------------------------------------------------ Aside from this, with his ranks in Herbalism, does Arawn know of any items that could speed up mana recovery? Also, as he did not have time to acquire a proper gift for the High Elder, would an Elvish Bow (as it is a rare item outside of elven culture) be considered a fitting, though last minute, gift? GM: Ack. Spell never happened so that section not below. No need for the Energy spell. Raban was able to cure it totally and first. I only asked cause Arawn is known to offer it frequently. The conversation with Ben'dar and Fremea was at the tavern bar and I had assumed alone as Ben'dar would not have opened his feelings if others around. I suspect that's how he would feel. Arawn would've been still at the manorhouse that early. So the conversation between Ben'dar and Fremea not known by others. I probably didn't make it that clear but it was implied. As a result I'll move your dialogue to her not in reference to that but as a memory of her past telling in the Sivas tavern and treat as below. Hope this is acceptable. It applies alone in its own context well. As nothing happened at wedding the wand thing wouldn't have mattered. It'd have been allowed. Yes. The bow would be a well appreciated gift for the High Elder if you wish to do so. Gifts weren't expected nor requested as it was short notice and he'd have understood. As to mana helpers in terms of NMIs my quick scans come up with these: Alectorius, Chalcedony, Dark Ruby, Houseleek, Oxyx, Star Ruby, Black diamond, Great spider poison, Moon Rose. Last 3 for Will and others for mana in general it seems. There are many items not listed above that give mana in particular for specific spells. ---------------------------- From Raban: [Re: Actions] [Raban is quite happy, as his Goddess must be favoring him today since everything worked properly.] Raban to Frema following the spell casting, "It was my pleasure to help you. I too hope such healing will not be needed again. Have you learned of the Plant Named Angelica? It is a wondrous plant that spirit healing potions can be made from. Keeping it available could help counter some of the effects of poisons in an emergency. It also boosts your resistance to magic, so works as a defense if you know you are at risk from Spells. I have some but I have not had a chance to grind it, add it to fine wine and put it in small bottles. I am sure there is some available in this city as well. Please remember to remind me to bless you again when ever you need it." [Much later Raban wonders if he is supposed to visit with the High Elder. Surely entertaining would not merit meeting with such an important person no matter how good you were, though nobles have given a lot of gold to me for the few times I played for them. In any case I have nothing to hide and a person who could punch out a giant rarely needs a weapon anyway.] GM: Ack. ---------------------------- From Chion: [Re: Actions] Upon hearing Zhou's telling the other the rules Chion knows by heart he will take him to the side and ask him quietly, "The Egg Drop? Isn't that for Royalty only? I mean, I don't mean any disrespect to my master Correl in the least, but I have to ask... how is the lady connected to the Lord of Katai?" Not to loud that anyone else can hear. GM: Ack. ---------------------------- From Arawn: [Re: Actions] [***Text from Fremea deleted***] "Then we shall have to move swiftly to find them. When time permits tell me what you know of them and perhaps we can begin our search while still in the Dark Lands." ---------------------------------------------------------- "From your story it seems you have been gone too long from Sidh. I will gladly teach you what if you arew willing to learn." GM: Ack. ---------------------------- From Fremea: [Re: Actions] [***Old Duplicated text from Arawn and last update deleted.***] Fremea takes a longer look at the demi-god and wonders if he has other plans too. There is something lost in him it seems and is only looking to find a place to fit in, just like almost all the masses try to do. "Thank you for your offer, I hope we can find the ones I am looking for soon, though I fear they may already be hunted by others wanting to harm them." "I will make time permit, however I have heard of this Great Magician and would not keep him waiting. So, the audience will be first and then I shall hunt those 'creatures.' It seems you know about them more than any of these here, so I will learn as much as I can from you." Only points stub out where its wings burnt away. Arawn knows that study of the creature is likely useless after Corona's first attack. But he also knows that body parts from this creature could lead to evil things from evil wizards who might have a grudge against the Sidh. Now the body is too well burnt and its insides likely melted away to be of any use to anyone even scavengers.] [Raban casts his blessing spells upon Fremea.] Raban: "It was my pleasure to help you. Arawn recalls what Fremea told of her past when she joined the group long ago. Now that they are alone Arawn brings up the subject Sidh to Sidh.] Arawn: "I am sorry for your loss and what you have been through. I do not know what it is like to have lived as you do, I can only imagine the shadow of it, but I know something of loss and of being displaced...," [a distant look in his eyes as he said this.] "I will do what I can to assist you, to find those you seek and hopefully bring you some peace and when all is set aright then I shall show you the wonders of the true realms of the Sidh!" Location: High Elder's Domain, Dark Lands, North-East corner of continent, center of Dark Lands.] [Time: 8:335m] [After Zhou explains the schedule and rules for meeting the High Elder. Chion moves Zhou away from the others and in a low voice asks him a question.] Chion: "The Egg Drop? Isn't that for Royalty only? I mean, I don't mean any disrespect to my master Correl in the least, but I have to ask... how is the lady connected to the Lord of Katai?" [Zhou looks nervous a bit and looks to Correl in the distance and back at Chion. He fidgets his feet a bit then answers in a low whisper only Chion can hear.] Zhou: "You are correct. I thought you knew? Correl I figured would've told you by now? Zhing is a long lost relative to the royal line of Katai. If she were there she would be considered a distant niece to the emperor. She has some form of royal blood in her but here that blood means little. Only a few know this fact so please don't spread it. She herself doesn't know the detail since she was adopted by her own parents when she was an infant. No one but maybe the High Elder knows her true parents. You have a keen eye to recognize the use of the Egg Drop. I doubt anyone else did. In some rare occasion the Drop can be used for non royals if the High Elder as the ex-Count of Marob deems it worthy." [Chion listens and his eyes squint a bit. Is this story true or is it made up for his benefit?] ---------------------- [Time: 10:00-11:30am] [The wedding ends and most head to their place of temporary homes (inns, tavern, manor house, wagons or village homes.) Many change into less formal clothing but the majority stay in their finest out of respect. For two hours entertainers play music as servants rush crazy like to clear the seats away from the field to give some room for dancing. Within an hour the servants return to place circular tables and long wooden tables into place for the feast celebration. Everyone is happy the wedding went well and with not one problem. Correl and Zhing mingle and chat with friends and family.] [Arawn studies the crowd more intently than he did last night. Now that there are clear views of everyone their faces can be read better. Arawn soon guesses that the one called Sorceress seems to be high in power in this group. He later confirms this by learning she is second in command of the Dark Lands if there is a "second in command." All are pretty much equal but she yields great power and wealth. Yet there is something dark and sinister about her that Arawn can't quite place his finger on.] [Ben'dar spends a few lengthy minutes with Correl's permission to examine the white house. He finds it a creature of great beauty. Not quite a good combat mount that could last long in the field but one of long endurance and long quality breeding. If only Ben'dar had this horse to add to his ranch he could increase orders. Ben'dar figures the horse to be less than Tef'wo in combat but the white horse is high in quality in social grounds. Of course the Zen'da have their own legends on white horses. Since they are so rare on the plains. They say when one appears they can lead to great omens depending on how they come into the world. If they come fast it leads to omens of darkness and great peril, usually plaques or wars. If they come slow and steady it leads to a great person will soon rise in power to lead the people to greatness. Ben'dar hopes its the slow version for Correl. Ben'dar heads to the food tables once they are setup and begins to chow down on great amounts of food and drink.] [Caladan spends most of the feast eating and chatting with a couple Katai scholars at his table. They apparently cast several lengthy communicate spells for the conversation to take place. Both share in various cultural aspects.] [Chion spends a good amount of time with Correl talking of what has happened in the past few months. Its good for the two to catch up and Zhing seems to respect this. They quietly chat at one side of the field.] Correl: "You have definitely made me proud. I'm getting too old to take more apprentices. But the nobles urge me to take one more. I may later. After the feast Zhing and I will leave for our honeymoon. I hope your meeting with the High Elder goes well. We won't leave though till probably 1 or 2. So I hope to see you before we leave to hear of his audience with you. I do not know what it is about but it seems rather important to specifically request you to come here from Marentia. I do like your friends. That Elf seems pained by something and that could lead to reckless actions. Like yourself as a young learner. You will need to guide him and yourself on these things. Ben'dar can take care of himself but his pride can get in the way of the brain. I hope he uses more of the brain than his muscles. Caladan reminds me of a curious child eager for adventure but never wanting to settle down. Yes. I've learned that just from our short talk with him. You know I've always had good ways in figuring people out." [He looks down briefly.] "All except for Sha Lu and Zing. I don't always get it right. Fremea intrigues me as a sneaky sort that you may have to watch. I have read their kind can be very mischievous and can betray humans at a drop of a hat. Watch her carefully. Raban seems eager to help and will be a great help to your party of friends. I only know him as a musician but he seems worthy as a companion. Unali reminds me of you if you were female. Quiet and aloof but very confident in her style and abilities. Z'leyra fascinates me as being a confused person. She wears many forms of self identity. But she can't decide on one. A shaman? A Healer? A wizard? A artist and enchanter? A fighter? You know our people specialize and our caste system doesn't allow such multiple professions. It leads to power spread out too thin and never specialize in one area. While she seems confused on which she will take in her life she seems strong and confident in her abilities..." [Chion and Correl continue to talk awhile until Zhing and her friends grab Correl away to talk to a noble from the north.] [Fremea finds that no one seems to want to dance or talk to her. Nothing unusual there. Humans are afraid of that which they don't understand. Fremea spends time with the party eating the strange eastern fruits that are quite tasty. She notices that there are only about a dozen kids on the field and they are seem rigid as their parents or guardians seem to control them. After she eats she finds a couple kids standing in one corner looking bored and tries to show her the stick game she learned at the Zen'da village. But the parents quickly grab the kids away and Fremea rejoins Raban and the others.] [Raban is asked to play his pipe for about 15 minutes but after that he is given time to rest and enjoy himself as a visitor not a entertainer. Around 11:15am he is given a bag of coins as payment and a thanks from Zhou. Raban learns and finds it fascinating that Wizards abound here in this land. All from the big orientations even shadow magic and elder but there are no druids or bards here. A few priests seem to dot the land in various religions but even they have a lower status. Maybe the land could benefit from the experience in bards and druids from the party.] [Unali enjoys the wedding feast food as she hasn't had a good selection of Katai foods in a great many seasons. The fruits and specialty plates she consumes with some haste and delight. She can always tackle a group of 20 or 25 Orcs to exercise it off. She wonders what her own pre-arranged marriage groom would be like these days. Probably well established in society and without her there likely married with a family by now.] [Z'leyra enjoys the wedding as well but finds it odd that there weren't much on vows or dedications to each other. It must be the Katai way. During the feast she learns there are mostly Law and Balance wizards here but notes there are 3 or 4 chaos oriented wizards here as well. The temptation to outright challenge and fight each other is gone and Z'leyra finds the whole notion admirable. How a culture could deal with each other side by side at the same table without slaughtering each other is testimony to peace and the High Elder. OF course here in this domain its like sacred or neutral ground. Maybe leaving this domain there are infighting and conspiracy theories galore. Z'leyra is sad to discover there is no Shaman domain here. Many of the more western types like Shamans, Druids, Bards and even Witches aren't represented here. Maybe if Chion ever settles down and earns his domain he'll be the first Shaman-Wizard to own land.] [After the wedding Unali finds Chion free and approaches him.] Unali: "You have lived here before. That women, the sorceress she is called. She seems so out of place here. Do you know what her role is here?" [Around 11:30 the feast starts to settle down. The food is virtually gone but there is plenty of drinks still left. Servants begin to clean up as guests start to leave for their wagons and horses for home. A couple groups of nobles also head to the Reception underground area where the party teleported into the citadel. Maybe they will leave home that way? Zhou finds the party and reminds them of their meeting in about half an hour to head to the manor house in about 25 minutes for inspections.] -------------------------------- [Time : 11:54am] [Z'leyra approaches the manor house with a sack in her hand. She finds Zhou talking quietly to a guard waiting for the party to form up. Z'leyra waves over Zhou and both speak quietly about something. Zhou nods his head and takes the sack. Z'leyra's stomach sinks a bit as she hands over the item to Zhou. She watches carefully as Zhou approaches the door and another man approaches from within. Z'leyra saw him before on the illusion scroll sent to the party, Oby something. Zhou speaks to him quietly and hands over the sack. Oby requests the sack to be scanned and the guards do but Z'leyra hears nothing but "its clean". Oby takes the sack inside and somewhere else.] -------------------------------- [Time : 11:57am] [At the High Elder Manor's main and only door guards begin the inspection process outside and inside the front door. Scans by talismans, wands and a brown staff is done. Zhou had mentioned good dress is recommended for protocol but not required. Most in the party take that as a good suggestion to dress as they did for the wedding so no one changes.] [In no particular order Ben'dar is the first to be searched and let into the manor. He is dressed in his fine silk tunic, pants, hat with feathers and fine exceptional quality boots. Ben'dar's long hair is tied by a blood red silk ribbon that makes him look almost like a Cerulean spice merchant. As he is looked over he recalls the Ceremonial pike hanging at his ranch would've made a nice gift for the high Elder. Tef'wo has his magical pike but Ben'dar still holds his daggers for personal safety. Two guards search with hands and magical items Ben'dar as one takes minor notes. Ben'dar finds the note taker to be a violation of privacy but doesn't understand their language.] Guard: "Magical dagger. Combat and attribute enhancement of some kind. Magical belt. Protection only it seems." Kee: "You may enter the manor now Ben'dar. Your two daggers will then be taken by the guard inside and stored in a locker. They will be quite safe." [Ben'dar enters the main front doors which are a ornate green with jewels inset at various points on the door. Likely magical Ben'dar figures. He sees a guard upon entering and hands over his daggers to the guard. Ben'dar feels a bit naked without weapons but also safe from the wilds outside the house.] [Caladan is next to be searched. He left the firesnake with a new sleeping spell in the tavern. He wears his gloves, set of black leather pants and jerkin, black boots, black leather hat and brown cloak that makes him look like a rich executioner. But its his best clothing for what he has now. He is scanned and searched.] Guard: "Magical bracelet. Magic energy storage?" [Caladan nods and the guard waves him to enter in.] Zhou: "You will not need to turn anything over." [Aside a shrub Corona sits and stares at the party entering.] Zhou: "Your eagle is allowed on the manor roof if he wishes just not the tower. I don't know what the wards there would do to him. He'll have to wait outside." [Arawn is next to be searched and scanned. Zhou mentions to treat him with the utmost respect as a noble. Arawn wears his best clothing and Cloak. He wears his scale mail as a symbol of pride as well as his sword. His ornate boots stomp on the ground as he shifts from the scans.] Guard: "Magical sword for combat and wand with no inherent powers it seems. Likely harmless." Zhou: "We'll need the wand just in case and your sword. If you don't mind please give it to the guard inside. Thank you Arawn." [Next in line is Raban who towers a good 3 feet over the guard. The guard gives a weak smile and gulps as if he is about to pat down a bear. Raban wears his best leather studded leather armor, brown gauntlets and leather cloak, studded boots. He put his musician instruments in the tavern since he wasn't requested to bring them.] Zhou: "Turn the dagger over to the guard inside please." [The guard with the magical talisman seems to take a few seconds over Raban's jeweled armbands on both arms.] Guard: "Armbands look okay. Stones are mostly protections." Zhou: "Very well you may enter." [Chion approaches next for inspection. He has been through this once or twice having visited inside the manor house alone and with others so he knows the drill. Just don't bring anything that could be deemed nasty, aside from personal defensive weapons, and you'll get through. He wears still his finest sailor clothes. Compared to the others the clothes aren't fancy but Chion is one not to bend to the will of the public just to look good. Correl always mentioned to "dress as you like always.". Of course his second apprentice was one to practice magic naked in the woods. That didn't go over too big for most. With his sword at his hip, sai's at his hip and staff in his hand he looks ready for combat.] Zhou: "As you know sword and daggers will be taken for storage. The staff is considered a dangerous item but the Gnarish staff in this case is allowed an exception you may bring it tot he audience room." [Zhou puts his head in and speaks that order to the guard inside. Chion raises an eyebrow. Yes the staff could be easily used to hold the old man in place and then kill him. A dangerous item indeed. But why would he allowed this exception? Of course the High Elder did give him the staff so long ago.] Guard: "Magical dagger for combat. Ring, belt, amulet and stone seem to be protective and body enhancement. All acceptable." [Chion enters and gives over his sword and daggers. Feeling naked for the first time in months he can still be a dangerous name with his hands and this hard staff at his side.] [Fremea is next in line and the guard is unsure how to search. He goes from the giant Raban to the dwarf of Fremea and she is female. He whispers to Zhou who whispers back.] [She continues to wear her fine dress over her leather armor of Elven design. Her cloak hides most of her wings but they still stick out and by now everyone know about them. She still has her dagger and bow on back as to her its her main defensive weapons. The guard with respect pats down Fremea and Fremea is used to this indignity. On the slave posts folks would touch her all over as if a piece of meat. Anger begins to boil over at this memory as the guard touches her up and down. She tenses her jaw as her wings are touched in the sensitive parts to check for hidden weapons. She begins to scream out but as quickly as it begins the search is over and her anger lessens. She decides then and there she will never go through that again if she can help it.] Guard: "No magic other than detecting some aura about her body of some protection it seems. Bow and daggers will be taken inside. We are also detecting poison on your hands. That could be a security issue." Zhou: "No no. She was poisoned last night. There is bound to be some residue from it. She is clear to enter." Guard: "As you command sir." [He waves Fremea inside.] [Next is Unali in her fine dress that fits her rather nicely. She feels a bit naked though without her weapons to help her. She left those behind in storage at the tavern.] Guard: "Magical ring seems harmless. Ruby necklace is mostly protection." [Unali allows the quick search over her body knowing its required for access. It happens. In Katai such searches are even common for some establishments like bars that certain bosses might be in. Its the way of the streets in Katai society.] Guard: "No weapons. You may enter now." [Last is Z'leyra in her fine clothing from the wedding. Most of her equipment is back at the tavern. But she still wears her chainmail under her clothing, great sword, staff and daggers. The guard's magic scanning items seems to blaze with flashing gems. He tries to reset it by some quick hand movements on its face.] Guard: "Many magical items. This will have to be done slowly not to overload the talisman. Sword and daggers will be stored inside. Magical boots...belts.. bracelet, purse, and brooch seem harmless. The necklace holds a chalcedony stone. That will need to be stored inside. There are things inside it could disrupt. These anklet things are magical but the talisman can't detect their power. So you'll need to take them off and store them. Of course your staff is a powerful item it seems. Unknown what spell could be inside. Zhou?" Zhou: "No. Sorry staff could hold spells that could be harmless it'll have to be stored. Sorry Z'leyra. You may keep your drum as a symbol of who you are as long as you don't use it inside unless requested to do so." [The tallest building in the citadel and village is clearly the Wizard's Tower of 60 feet. It stands 150 by 50 feet in size as well. Instead of a typical round tower the High Elder uses a square tower for some reason. Same for the manor house. Instead of a sprawling large mansion spanning over acres the High Elder decided on a squat square house. The color of the house is green with touches of gray as if viewing the house in a mystical mist. There are large windows on both east and west sides of the building and a few on the front side. Few guards and rarely anyone else has seen the back so its description is unclear. The Manor house is large and tall outclassing the other buildings except for the wall sentry towers. Rumors is that it is a self sufficient building with its own internal plumbing, water supplies and food storage and production rooms. Rumors are it can last a siege for quite some time if one ever came about. Chion also knows that few outsiders see inside and rumors also say that the floors are larger than they truly seem. Likely there are many hidden halls and doors in the place only a few know of. There may also be even hidden floors but as always its just a rumor. Only the high Elder knows for sure on 100% of the layout. The Architect choose to have his memory wiped after the construction so he could not give out its secrets. The manor house from outside is about 650 by 300 feet with a area of about 195,000 square feet of rooms and floor space. In Marentian castle terms its small. The Green Eye Tavern back in Sivas could fit 48 of them in the building at 8 wide and 6 deep. So to most of the party its rather large looking but more a business building than a home.] [the front door itself is two 3 foot wide doors of heavy metal decorated in symbols that likely are keen to the high Elder and his magic. A rope dangles to the right side of the door that likely allows a chime to gain entry by the front guard. Though the guard here is heavy armed and armored there is usually just one guard on duty.] [Zhou lets everyone into the front room and then speaks from the open doors.] Zhou: "It has been a pleasure serving you. Here is where I part. They will take the rest of your tour over from here." [He points to a couple of men inside and then bows. He steps back and the guards close the heavy doors.] [Inside the front room the party stands. Weapons and some items have been taken. For those who wish to see where they are put they are put in the room to the left inside magical lockers for safe keeping. The front room is 26 feet by 28 feet and contains a simple guard desk and a few chairs (4). There are doors west, east and north. The north door is well decorated with runes and symbols and ornate looking locks. The 2 guards out front doing the inspections had swords and a polearm each wearing leather armor. Inside the guard that locks up the gear is wearing leather and has a sheathed sword. The guard at the desk making notes on a parchment is wearing chainmail and when he stands has a shiny sword in his sheath. There are 2 other men in the room standing to the side until everyone comes in. Then they approach. Kee stands behind the party quietly ready for translation.] [The first is well dressed in flowing yellow and green silks that are fluffy on the arms and legs. He wears a jeweled necklace and 2 rings on his finger. He appears to have no weapons on him. He gives a slight bow and introduces himself to the party.] Man: "I am Oby Won Chief Counsel, Aide and Household Majordomo to the High Elder. I am responsible for all household affairs. This is why Zhou did not come in as his authority ends here. I welcome you to the manor." [Oby Won stands about 5 foot 1 but the other man stands around 5 foot 8 and his muscles bristle in his green uniform. He wears the same green uniform of the guards around the citadel. A simple green cloth over leather armor with sleeves of brown and a patch on his right shoulder showing rank and position. On the front chest cloth a small crest of arms shows that must denote the High Elder's Crest of Nobility. In this case the rank patch is different and this one wears chainmail. On his hip a shiny sword hangs with a hilt with some jewel on it. A dagger is on his other hip in a smaller sheath. Unali can tell he holds a smaller dagger or knife in one of his boots but its well hidden. The man doesn't bow but looks over the party for a few seconds then speaks.] Man: "I am Su'ca Kwat Chief of Security for the Citadel and the High Elder. Now that you have passed the inspections I must inform you that scans or sensory detection's will not work inside." [He glances at Fremea and Arawn in specific ways and then the others.] "The magical defenses here detect such sensing and bounce back a form of energy that disrupts that sense. Its not painful but enough of it can cause headaches. Also use of Invisibility and transparent spells are strictly not allowed. In such cases wards will disrupt them and alarms will sound. While in the presence of the High Elder never approach unless he requests it. Never perform any hostile hand actions with hands. Where you will be there will be purified and protected grounds. So spells will likely fail if attempted by anyone but him or those he wishes. Security will be everywhere so you will be safe for yourself and the High Elder." Caladan: "May I ask a question?" [Kwat nods.] "If the High Elder is powerful as reported to be and the people are happy and content why all the defense spells and citadel?" Kwat: "We never know when the peace that holds the domains together may fail. It took many years for me just to get this much protection out of him." [He smiles then looks up briefly as if he is being heard or seen.] "Also we never know when our brothers to the south wish to invade and destroy their Katai "traitors". This citadel could likely hold any good sized army for a long time. We do not fear the people as they ARE happy and content." Oby: "Shall we go?" [Oby opens the north door and enters into the Ante Room to the north. He waits for the others to enter. Its not a room per se but a internal courtyard with a high ceiling that seems to reach to 15 feet? Its hard to say as its a black ceiling that seems to show no limit likely from some magic? In the center of the area is a large stone fountain. The 6 foot diameter fountain is decorated with runes and symbols along the bottom edge. The light blue water is shallow and cool from the mist. The single spray goes up and then falls back onto itself then winds down a winding stone structure that is hard to tell from the amount of water around it. To some its impressive to have a fountain inside a home like this. it probably has some magical use and based on orbs that are on the bottom likely lights up at night. Arawn was lucky to see it last night when he stayed here as it shone multiple lights at the water. There is a small table to the right where 2 people can sit and enjoy the fountain and talk. Along the walls are smaller tables and chairs for same purpose. To the north of the fountain a large statue stands. As the party approaches a white orb light shines down on it. This area is not carpeted but has gleaming green stone that seems to gleam brighter when stepped on. The statue is a gleaming grey 6 foot version of the High Elder. The statue is made of a bronze/iron alloy that gleams like a new coin. The statue is in a pose of greeting for those who enter the area. In one hand he holds a book in the other he has a dove on his finger. It seems to be a white metal that is likely a dove. The dove for most cultures is a symbol of peace and love. The statue stands on a 2 foot iron pedestal.] [The ante room has no northern wall and opens to a East/West hallway. Due north of the statue is a large door where the party is assembled.] Oby: "We will need to introduce you in order of protocol. Protocol demands you bow upon entry to the High Elder." [He assembles the party into a line that seems to denote power, status and other factors.] [Su'ca Enters the room first opening the large doors and seems to reveal some sort of sitting room. The decorative oak door opens silently to reveal a room with white carpet. Su'ca enters first and stands to the side. Oby then enters and bows to the front. He then steps in and begins to announce entry of each person.] Oby: "Arawn, Acolyte Ai Druid, Priest, Magician, Son of Morrigan and Payan." [Arawn enters and finds it unsettling that he is first. But his status as a son of gods might have something to do with it. He hopes. He enters the room and bows. He is pointed to a front chair and goes to sit.] Oby: "Caladan, Third in Line to Tribal Chief Ga'Sha Giborah of the Ga'Fel Tribe on the Zen'da Plains. Magician of Law." [Caladan shrugs at Chion in a sorry gesture and enters. He bows and wonders why he a barbarian would be second to Arawn and the others. But his almost Royal like status if he was from a civilized nation might have something to do with it. He takes a seat next to Arawn.] Oby: "Chion 'Blades' apprentice to Correl now Magician of Balance. Fighter of the Martial Arts." [Chion enters and bows smirking a bit at all this fanfare. He takes the second set of seats on the right and sits up front.] Oby: "Z'leyra of the Kameri. Sorceress of Balance. Skilled Shaman. Enchantress of Magic. Experienced Healer." [Z'leyra enters and bows. She is intrigued how Oby knows of her birthplace. Oby must've studied up or talked to others like Zhou. She takes her place next to Chion.] Oby: "Fremea Sidh Magician." [Fremea enters and bows as best she can. She takes her place behind Arawn.] Oby: "Unali of Katai. Master of Martial Arts and Daggers." [Unali enters and bows. She hopes the High Elder doesn't take her homeland personal. But likely not or she'd not even be here.] Oby: "Raban Usherwood Kalu Bard." [Raban enters and bows as best he can but it tends to be a low tilt. He takes his place behind Chion in the right second row.] Oby: "Ben'dar of the Fel'oros tribe of the Zen'da nation. Skilled horseman and horse merchant." [Ben'dar bows and feels a bit weird being last in the line but takes his place next to Raban.] [The party sit quietly staring up front or glancing at the sides waiting for more. Seconds pass and the High Elder nods. Then Oby continues which surprises the party as all were introduced.] Oby: "Kiet Sunan of Lemasa. Entertainer and Wizard." [Raban glances over his shoulder to see Kiet walk in and is surprised to see him sit behind Unali in the 3rd row left side seats in the right. A look of confusion is on his face as to why he is here.] [Oby strides up the center aisle and stands to the left of the large throne where the High Elder sits.] Oby: "Sven Redhand, Wizard of Law, Djani warrior." [Sven walks in and sits behind Ben'dar.] [Oby then bows to the small group and then finishes up. Su'ca stands tall in the rear.] Oby: "The High Elder Ki'ama Marob, Count of Marob, Keeper of Omael's Word, Master of the Paths of Time." [The High Elder raises a hand and Oby bows again this time to the High Elder and then to the party. He walks down the center aisle and leaves the room. The High Elder waves another hand and the four guards in the room with poleaxes and chainmail leave the room as well. Kwat then closes the door but remains in the rear of the room standing watching the party.] Actions? Comments? Next update...Next Email... GM: This is part 1. Quite lengthy as is. So I'll do more in part 2! GM: Map of First Floor of High Elder's Manor is on website at bottom of page if you want to see what it looks like. Arawn slept there the night before so knows the first floor well enough to give that as public information. He saw some of second but none of 3rd. GM: This update and next is rather large. So take your time reading it. Reply on sections you can. I separated the two so it will be easier to reply and quote sections. GM: Some parts of Arawn/Fremea'a talking wasn't sure where it all fit. I hope it fits in a chronological time frame and makes some form of sense. :) It can be confusing to figure out where dialogue goes at times. Thank goodness for old updates to look back on. :) Arawn you have some comments I believe in the Recap section of the update. GM: For above introductions and what you might be wearing I took estimates based on "common" wear since it wasn't posted. It doesn't matter in the long run.
