The plan looked so good in theory. But the distance and illusion of the actual ash field fools that. "We'll have to do this a couple of times. I'll have to use the thunder spell at least twice. That should get us to the south side. That fog will have to cover our movement." Caladan glances to Arawn as the others quickly come into position. Arawn explains the Fog spell might be less effective then explains the Concealing Mist spell will last long enough. He explains one spell will get the people across the field but once there people will need to get inside. So he suggests doing it twice. Caladan nods and a form is planned. He glances to the others. "We are about ready to go. for those who can't see it coming this way the storm should be here any second. We'll need to move fast as we have a about a mile to cover. So you will need to move as fast as you can. Raban if some need help please help them." Raban nods and scans the people. Those with the heavy armor the chainmail may need to be helped. Moving fast in chainmail for full 2 minutes at least will be exhausting. Raban knows he could haul two folks quickly if he needed. Fremea she can even try to lift up her dress and fly if needed. Farseeker adds to the comments, "if need to grab a hold of a person near you if the storm is dark." [Time: 12:05am] Caladan reaches to his magical warstaff and grabs it tightly to begin the magical words. Arawn can feel the static energy around Caladan as the energy builds up around him. Caladan then points toward the Rising Mount and then completes the words as he nods to Arawn to start. As the Zen'da wizard ends he places the staff solidly onto the ground and a clap of thunder can be heard in the distance. Arawn glances up high in to the sky and notices clouds quickly form high above the ash field. They spread out fast and a few flashes of lighting can be seen in the dark clouds. It looks like 150-170 feet to the side of Caladan spreading out. But the height of the clouds seem to go as far as 600 feet above the ground. It won't reach the top but it should cover the approach with some detail. It will be a small cloud burst but hopefully the Vong will ignore it as a summer cloud storm. Arawn concentrates and points to the forward area to the ash field. As he realizes he hopes the ash doesn't have traps or bugs or such in it. But if the scout got to the steam vent then he made it safely. He'll have to run but ensure what he looks around, just in case. After a quick few moments the cealing mist forms around Arawn. About 20 feet above, side, forward and behind forms. Captain Lin suddenly sees the mist and becomes excited. "What the heck?" Farseeker grabs a hold with Raban to haul the Captain forward. "The storm is here and creating this cloud mist." Farseeker quickly explains as both haul the Captain forward. Captain Lin is hauled almost by force and will stumbling over bushes and things. With help from Rabah seems to careless less about the undergrowth they reach the edge of the tree line. As the party has been prepared for this and have some experience from this spell from Arawn and Z'leyra they know just to move as quickly forward as they can. As those who break onto the ash field they find the ash a bit dense flake powder but it isn't deep enough to hinder movement. [Time: 12:07am] Almost halfway to the mountain some are not used to this great exercise and clearly shows it. Chion who is fine with short distances becomes a bit slow from his weight but Raban gives a bit of a hand as Farseeker urges Captain Lin forward. As some pass him, Caladan has to pause to recast the the storm again. As others almost run into him he become a bit behind and has to catch up as the storm is recast above their heads. As the storm nears the south side of the mountain it becomes blocked by the side itself. This should cover any view from the top he believes. [Time: 12:09am] At almost 85 feet to the edge the concealing spell ends and the party loses their cloak. But this is actually a good thing as at this point the rocky ground becomes a bit hard to traverse. As the party crosses the final legal they slam with force from momentum and slump a bit from the quick exercise. Farseeker looks up the storm and figures it will end soon. As the party eyes the steam vent nearby, Arawn concentrates to conceal them again. Captain Lin glances at the storm breathing heavily and shakes his head. "You...guys...are ..good weather...spotters.." As he finishes this the new Concealing Spell hides their presence again knowing that from above the end in moments. Farseeker shakes his at the party. "We need to run more guys." He giggles a bit but with not one bit of exhaustion or tired breath. Even while he hauls chainmail and heavy sword he doesn't seem like he even moved any. But some know that military guys like him march miles in such. So to this is just a nature hike. Caladan peers at the steam vent before he lost vision of it. "Who goes first" Farseeker wonders who should be first. Maybe that would've been better figured out before now. Actions? Comments? Next Update....Monday... GM: Who wishes to go first? Try to let me know by Monday afternoon. If no one wishes to go first then let me know like 2nd, 3rd, 7th or such. If none is given then I can just figure out random placements. Arawn will have likely be the last one in. This is because those who will be first will need to be in front see what is there. Arawn can even move a bit away to give those first in that sight and when the spell is about to end he can head in? If Arawn tried first that means anyone enters next will be blind a bit so that can be a problem. GM: Good and bad news. Bad news is computer is 10 years old a 2000 machine. Its treated me well. But a few days when I was removing some software lost my sound card for some reason. As well as the printer working. At this point can't fix it. But at this age its probably not good to do so. I've been considering a upgrade for probably 3-4 years. Its not a matter of money but time. I've just not had the time to do it as well as issues with 2 technical things I have to figure out. So if I do a new computer (finally get off my butt) that will need weeks to get things done and install the new software and such. I'll still use the old machine until I switch over. But there will be some transition I'll need to do. I'm not sure how long it will take. But I hope to warn ahead of time this stuff. Might only be hours but could be longer. Who knows. It has been a decade since I had to do with a new computer. :) Now just have to shop and solve the two big issues. So stay tuned once I hear details will let you know. GM: A small update. Once I know who goes first and then next will go on. Update will be Monday for sure. But if you need to do any last minute things before entering the mountain do so by Monday night! The dwarves say enjoy the great holiday - Friday the 13th!
