I like your descriptions, the little steam/heat vents etc and rats all add. Considering what you just went through, thank you. Keep up the good work, and keep on getting better. We are all pulling for you. Mark ] [OOC, part 2. Almost posted for the order, but just let things fall as they may. That is about where I would have suggested placing Kell.] [OOC, part 3. V was not renewed for a third season by ABC. Dang Bums! Hope SyFy picks it up. Still haven't seen season 2.( Watching the cave as warily as possible, Ha'Kell uses all his... Are there crystals and formations inside here? Any lava rocks or other interesting natural phenomen? Approaching the split, Kell take a long moment to examine both the left and right tunnels. He even smells them, looking for a difference. [Er, have more but no more time right now. Will post a followup.] GM: Ack. Thanks. It mainly matters on time. A quick 2 hour post out good descriptions. A good 3-4 hour it improves the better details. Then for combat pots there is very detail for flower words since it takes a lot of time but not much else going on. As to orders I tend to figure out how folks will try to fit in such things from personalities. No V? Man now you depress me. May need to cheer up by killing a few characters. Good post. From Kiet: [Re: Actions] Sigh. That's OK. It just fits along with the rest of Kiet's time on this adventure. I bring a knife to a gun fight.... GM: Ack. Like I say nothing personal. If it was Fremea could've been a critical situation. If it was Raban it would be a bug bite injury. So it helps to offset it at times. ----------------------------------------------------------------- [New Stuff] [Augado 10th, 1634TH] [Location: Middle Katai Plains] [ Mountains west of Pamau] [Time: 12:16am] It seems like hours but the party climbs, scampers, falls, slides and crawls for maybe 10 minutes from entering the entrance. But since each person is pushing others to move fast the desire to move faster is there. Watching the cave as warily as possible, Ha'Kell uses all his senses. His trusty banded shield on his left arm, and a nice new looking spear in his right hand. The spear almost gleams when there is light, and the tip is very sharp with a good long point for driving into weak spots. A second spear is across his back, with his trusty tulwar at his hip. Sadly he chose to leave the bastard sword on his horse, it's size and weight possibly a hindrance in these tight quarters. Looking as he crawls, the half-elf is wary for Unali's and Fremea's backs. He's using his height over Fremea to watch for anything. Kell can tell its a race to see which vent that might burst forth steam or worse. He glances left and right and hopes the side with the shield takes the brunt of the possible danger. Taking Squirt firmly and looking the critter in the eyes, making sure he's paying attention, "Stay close. Don't wander. You can easily be killed." Kell gives a few more instructions, making sure Squirt understands as much as possible. He's rather fond of the little guy and doesn't want to loose the little critter in here. Ending with, "Stay on my shoulders and watch. I will let you down when it's safe," making sure Squirt is somewhat following, even though he'll be antsy and want to climb down and go exploring. Kell makes sure Squirt stays on his shoulders and out of the way. Squirt enjoys the ride on Kell's shoulder shifting from right to left as he sees exciting things. Kell's natural half-elf eyes don't see as well as Fremea but he can at least tell the walls and avoid hanging rocks. But details on those walls are hit and miss. Kell wished he could brighten those red eyes on Squirt as he light. At times Squirt takes the journey in strike and even finds time to shift to Kell's back and lay down briefly as he watches the rock pass by. Kell knows the beast's attention span is low but he wishes he was more alert. When a spray of light steam jets out it makes Squirt nervous but then exciting batting the steam with his claws. Then as Kell passes the animal lays down and lets the steam bath his underside from chin to delicate parts. The animal makes a bit of noise like a cat content. As the party moves deeper and deeper into the tunnel, down into the earth itself, he is fascinated. Both by the cave, and wondering about the effect of some magic in this tunnel. What would happen if he used his Whirlwind in here? Besides possibly smacking around all his friends? What about summoning an earth elemental? They can move through the earth as air to everyone here. Could they just popup behind a Vong and drag it into stone, then leave it there? What about some way to find either the Vong brain, or some of the bugs? Detect should work, but the radius is too small. Location is a better idea, but does Kell know something specifically enough for it to be useful? The half-elf continues to watch and think as the group starts crossing the bridge over the lava. Kell considers the plan for detection. But he knows the range is limited. If the mountain is at least 1,000 feet the spells would be weak. Once the lava bridge is found Squirt clutches tightly to Kell's shoulder and lays down on his back. The animal does not like the sight of the fire and makes him nervous. Once they are across though Squirt becomes more active. Squirt hopes to find more rodents to chase. While Squirt was nervous the firesnake on the back of Caldan seems to find the fire enticing and even attempts to fly down to investigate but the wizard signals not do. While Kell crawls he inspects the tunnels for crystals and lava rocks. He knows this mountain must have some active lava tube or vent underground below their feet. So that means the place is active. This explains why the ashfield looks so devoid of plants as it must've been a recent eruption or the trees know it can't live in the soil. No crystals are seen other than some typical rock formations like pyrite or fake gold. the level tunnel itself seems to indicate that water or fire pushes out most of the materials. If it isn't erosion he figures animals use it for their homes. But there are plenty of lava rocks that are no larger than a fist sized. There are plenty in various places in the tunnel but nothing of special variety. Heading down the long slope Ha'Kell wonders where is the customary water? Don't the Vong need some kind of special water? He'll ask to those around him, "What do the Vong need water for? Other than growing weapons and their special gear?" No one replies immediately to Kell's words but some comment that likely they need water for drinking. As Kell explores the tunnel he realizes he has good skills in man made underground areas but not natural ones. He wonders who might have the natural survival skills and why they didn't move first in. Unali also soon considers this as she herself has some skills but not in this area. It didn't come to mind to ask about this till now. But as Will moves from tunnel area to area he soon becomes quite content in the natural cave. He may not see the bugs and hazards being so far behind the others but he knows hoe natural caves are handled and can survive them. Kiet rolls away from the steam with the help of Zhou and finds the arm and some of his neck burnt. But it is not critical or bleeding. Just his luck he figures that he would get hurt. His helmet blocked most of the steam or it would have been a bit worse on his face. He quickly figures the wound will be worked later by a healer and some burnt stuff applied. He finds the wound light but annoying. Finally he moves on once the steam ebbs down. Unali considers the left and right options. To the right she can hear possible running water. She tells Fremea she will check one first then return if need be. Unali isn't sure which to use but she recalls what Balrog used to say when he acquired, or stole really, items from dungeons. He always said go right. So she crawls to the right side. She creeps along the tunnel that causes her to move on her side rather than to crawl it through fully. It should be even big enough to crawl for Raban but it will be a tough fit. She along her side for some time and it soon opens up to a wider area can crawl on her hands and knees again. At the same time Fremea finds waiting frustrating. She decides to move to the left tunnel and finds it a area that leads 20 feet down that side passage but is blocked. It looks to be a cave-in and is not sure how long it could take to uncover. She returns to the fork and decides to follow Unali since there is no point at this point. As the tunnel moves further down Unali finds the soil to be a bit more damp. A few moments longer she is finally surprised to find the tunnel widen open. in fact the crawl allows her to crouch and then stand. She scans the area that is now a large cave but can't tell direction or details with her eyes. Before she can get back to Fremea she finds Fremea approaching. Fremea scans the cave and it seems to be a cave some 20 feet wide and 12 feet tall. Finally it allows folks to stand. Fremea can see a niche in the left forward area and can hear running water. She peers past and another cavern seems to be even bigger and glint of water seems to be seen in the dark with her eyes. It may be a stream or basin but she decides to scan the area first. f Unali figures this is a good point to rally. She quickly calls down the line to get folks moving forward. She decides to wait till everyone comes in and stands. Some have to reshift their gear but are happy to finally stand in some time. [Time: 12:23am] Actions? Comments? Next Update....Monday...
