Very happy you're feeling better. Keep on mending. How is your recovery? Any current effects hitting you? 2. I thought Kell was with Unali's group? Don't really care too much. That is how it's listed in the footer of the posts. BUT, I have no qualms w/ you changing it. Not much has happened w/Kell other than his daydream. Getting some action is good too. :) 3. Thanks for the compliment. I thought the daydream turned out well. Wanted to get the mana-view using another sidh and incorporate all of that, and the language usage too. Heck, I think that daydream is even mostly (90%+) accurate. He he. Kell does have his uses. Too bad no one bet Kell that gold. Great addition of Cpt Lin acting then pausing. 4. Wait to hear your response before acting, so I know which group I can act with. 5. Shields - highly underrated. ;) GM: Ack. Well I could've gone back to work more than a month ago. But I enjoyed the recovery and it helped to get the new computer stuff. Sadly I still don't have a new toy yet. But I'm in the finished touches of my wish list. Just have to get it. It will likely take weeks before I finish get everything transferred over to new computer since will have less time once I get back to work. But I figure it is time to get back. As to effects nothing really. Minor speech stuff but nothing major. So in a bit I get back into the groove. As to wrong group. Sidh. I've sent the editor dwarf to the rack. He owes me 2 weeks of torture. I think he got a bit confused with something mentioned way early like maybe when you talked to another person in the other group? But we'll move on. It was a good dream. At least its posting and being active. Fremea's group is your group. As to shields if I can remember them gear wise. :) BTW your name I mentioned in the PNP mailing list. :) From Arawn: [Re: Actions[ Catching sight of Unali's gesture Arawn silently nods... OOC: If Unali doesn't want to use Invisibility/magic then Arawn will not cast anything, following her lead. Otherwise, he'll cast the invisibility on himself and hold on to Unali with a free hand to maintain invisibility. They will be able to see each other so coordinating things shouldn't be a problem. GM: Ack. From Fremea: [Re: Actions[ Fremea watches a little bit to see if any of the Vong come her direction, feeling a bit stuck not being able to fly over the damn light. When it is obvious that no Vong come past the light to be taken out, she pulls out her bow (regular) with some plain arrows. She takes careful aim at the torch. Quietly she says, "Everyone be ready, they will be coming quickly... (This is where Scott, hopefully, goes at it hits, taking out the torch) GM: Ack. From Will: [Re: Actions] I just want to point out that I said I would "look" for an opportunity to set up an ambush.... So what do you know we found a Vong and he ambushed us... what more could you ask for! GM: Ack. Specifically no one actually in both groups stated to be alert enough to look behind every alcove. The map was laid out to figure such places early. Z'leyra did mention scouting but she ran out of fuel before found the Vong. So since it was a open thing I jumped. Why planning actions and the use of words is critical. :) You did say to ambush OTHERS so yes. But not to look for an ambush from the Vong. :) It was just fun I had to do. :) From Kell: [Re: Actions] Kell watches all the alcoves intently, looking for yet more hidden pests. Pests of the Vong kind. And - whispering, "I say we stop those guards by the tunnel,... [Meh, I had more and wanted to say more, but I'm tired.] GM: Ack. Darn. Someone now actually looking at alcoves. :< From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions] Keeping to the shadows (and using her ability to see in ordinary darkness to check around for Vong in the shadows) Z'leyra will ready her sling and prepare to sling bullets at the Vong guards when they get attacked. GM: Ack. How do you see? The spell ended. The one item that does that isn't worn/held? From Will: [Re: Actions] "Yes they've left some hidden to surprise us... shields... OOC: Will continues to look for opportunities to be ambushed. GM: Ack. ----------------------------------------------------------------- [New Stuff] [Augado 10th, 1634TH] [Location: Middle Katai Plains] [ Mountains west of Pamau] [Time: 12:53:35 pm] The time has come for the battle to turn stealth to overt work. At this point the two groups can't do much without it being more public. Not with the group on the north side of the pond. From the alcove niche south of the front entrance, Fremea hopes things shift but they do not. At this angle the actual details on the front entrance to the cave is elusive. It looked at one point blackish-brown. From the rock formation in the east some 400 or so feet from Fremea's group, Unali peers around the corner. The Shaper and Warrior is still a bit further away than she hoped. Some 150 or so feet away they seem to be chatting quietly. Unali finds it fascinating a Shaper would be talking to a warrior for so long. Is she giving out orders? Maybe the Vong are a bit more social than they seem to be. Unali glances over to the west side. She can't pinpoint the group itself. But at one point a bulk of a person, likely Raban, was seen in the shadows briefly. She hopes that if they are going to act it is coordinated. She fears that if she strikes first those at the entrance will warn others. If only there was some way to coordinate each other. Unali glances back to Arawn and gestures him forward with sign language. Catching sight of Unali's gesture Arawn silently nods his head. Creeping forward he followed Unali's lead, prepared to coordinate the attack to both silence the warrior's cry and fall, ready to use blade or empty hand to finish the job. As the group ponders how to slip past the torch-lit corner Arawn whispers to Unali and the rest of thier group. "I can cloak Unali and myself in invisibility to slip around the corner. I can take others as well but the cloak will lift as soon as we lose contact with each other so it might be best to wait and come back for the rest afterwards." Back on the west side, Fremea watches the Warrior group. They seem to be talking a bit. Maybe the one just come from the south is their leader? Fremea watches a little bit to see if any of the Vong come her direction, feeling a bit stuck not being able to fly over the damn light. When it is obvious that no Vong come past the light to be taken out, she pulls out her bow with some plain arrows. she takes careful aim at the torch. Quietly she says, "Everyone be ready, they will be coming quickly to check out what happened. Use the crevices to hide and surprise them." Kell nods to Fremea's words. To think he could've been on Unali's group instead of helping Will fight off a Vong. He adds whispering, "I say we stop those guards by the tunnel, try to keep ourselves unknown. I bet Kiet's ropes could slither over there and immobilize them, allowing us to move into position to block the tunnel." "Yes they've left some hidden to surprise us... shields are good... time for a shield and a bigger weapon. " Kell grips his shield in a fit of pride. ------------ [Time: 12:55:42 pm] Farseeker grips Arawn's arm. "I'm coming as well. You'll need a help." Arawn glances at Unali to see if she protests but then he realizes he did offer others. Arawn shrugs and nods. Arawn begins to speak the soft words of the Sidh in the form of a invisibility spell. For a few seconds, Fremea stands with bow nocked. It will be a tricky shot. But she isn't doing a quick aim. She grumbles that a simple Archery spell like guided missile could do it easily. Breathing slowly she readies the bow. Kiet doesn't react to the offer of using ropes. Maybe it is that the spell's range is too far or the threat from the Captain. [Time: 12:56:00 pm] Fremea lets the arrow fly the 30 or so feet to the torch along the rock wall. The arrow hits dead center just below the flame on the wick or whatever the Vong use. When this impact happens the arrow shatters and the wick holder seems to shatter as well. It looks like a form of dry wood or hay-fine-like material. May be some Vong manufactured creature or item. Doesn't seem to be normal fuel like tar or oil or even simple wood. As the wick-holder seems to fall to pieces the fire separates from the base of the torch and falls to the ground. Instead of dousing the fire it seems to shrink but not go out completely. Several small clumps of fire land on the dirt ground. The clumps number about 4 or 5 seem to flicker but without fuel they seem to flicker and fade away. Out of the corner of his eye the Vong Warrior glances to the south to notice the sudden change in the torch. He seems to stare a bit then one of the others nearby points a bit to the south-east. The warrior places a hand to his head as if to shield his eyes to get a better look. But his eyes seem to be looking at the direction of the first attacks by Fremea. Those two places where Raban took out one torch himself. One might be a odd thing but two and now a third. The lone warrior waves his amphistaff toward the south and one of the other warriors join him heading south. But the other warrior seems to remain at his post. Fremea glances around the side and sighs when only two of the Vong are coming. That means if the other gets away it could be a dangerous thing for the party. Fremea waves for the others to prepare. But sadly is not much area to hide besides the rock around the corner. Moving to the alcove north of the now downed torch would be easily seen by the Vong. [Time: 12:56:12 pm] The two Vong warriors are now feet away from the downed torch. By now the flames are all doused. These two Vong seem confident and sure of themselves. They don't fall for the alcove as the first warrior checks that area first. Then the move further south toward the party. Unali, Arawn and Farseeker run toward the Shaper and Warrior while cloaked under Arawn's spell. They have made it quickly over 120 feet and now need another 50 or so feet. [Time: 12:56:18 pm] The two Vong round the corner around the rock wall that hides the party and Fremea. Since the party is several feet away and the amount of bodies among the group, the chance of a good ambush is off. At the same time Farseeker, Arawn and Unali reach the two Vong they are attacking. Raban growls and leaps toward one of the Vong Warriors. He crosses the 10-12 feet toward the Vong. But as both hands grasp for the warrior he bends just in time to duck the blow and both large hands miss their mark. Unali guided Arawn and Farseeker toward the rear of the warrior as he is the greatest threat. Unali breaks her contact with Arawn and becomes visible just as she draws both daggers. Both daggers make their marks. The magical dagger hits the Vong in the rear lower right doing massive damage. The second normal dagger impacts below the upper left shoulder. But the massive damage from the magical kills the Vong warrior before Unali can even pull out and the normal dagger isn't even needed. Farseeker breaks away from Arawn as well in order to grip both hands to his great sword. But he is taken aback when Unali kills the Warrior instantly. Shrugging that off the military man moves toward the Shaper feet away. Crossing the few feet he swings his sword toward the Shaper's abdomen. The large blade slices sidelong toward the upper right of her chest doing moderate damage. Chion charges one of the warriors near Raban. He stabs his sai down to the Vong but the blade misses him. Ben'dar on the east side of the cave sees the others attacking the Warrior and Shaper. He charges pass the corner and runs for the others to help Unali. Arawn still invisible moves past Farseeker and tries to come up behind the Shaper while pulling his magical sword. He swings wildly but misses as she seems to weave away from Farseeker. Kell charges to attack the second warrior (#8) with his spear but the spear fails to make contact. Captain Lin uses this distraction to move behind the Vong. Going behind them he moves quickly north. He figures if no one is worried about the third warrior then its his duty to do something. Warrior #8 draws up his amphistaff and chooses his target of Raban. The swing is wild though and Raban feels no snake or spear to his large frame. Warrior #9 attacks Kell who is closest to him but his thrust is wide and doesn't even come inches away. Z'leyra with her sling in hand prepares to fire when she can get a good shot. Caladan rounds the corner and heads to help Unali out. Kiet stands in front of Zhou and prepares his ropes in case he can get a chance. Will charges forward to help Kell and thrusts his Tulwar. The blade impacts on the left lower chest but doesn't penetrate the tough Vong armor. The Shaper who is completely startled by the sudden appearance of Unali behind the Warrior and then his death is taken clearly aback. She is wearing a Snake hood and even the snakes seem to blink in confusion and quiet down briefly. Fearing that she is clearly outnumbered she reaches into her gown-robe and pulls out a Orb. She begins to quickly stroke with her free hand. Strie'bog joins Caladan to move toward Unali. Zhou behind Kiet draws up his sword ready to help but finds that each warrior has 2 on them as it is now. Finally Fremea pulls her dagger but finds the two warriors have 2 allies on them. She sees Captain Lin moving forward. With more instinct she decides to give chase after Lin to help. [Time: 12:56:21 pm] Raban pushes with his left arm and with his right hand lands a punch on Warrior #8's left upper chest doing a massive blow. Unali steps over the Warrior and heads straight for the Shaper. She thrusts the magical dagger but it doesn't even get close. For her normal dagger she lands in the Shaper's left upper chest below the shoulder and does the final damage to kill the Shaper. Farseeker twirls around and runs fast toward the group to the distant west. Chion tries to stab the warrior near him but the sai fails to make contact. Ben'dar continues to run toward the west. Arawn still invisible also turns to follow after Farseeker to the Vong in the west. Kell thrusts his spear at the second warrior but the weapon fails to penetrate the tough armor. Captain Lin jogs further northward toward the entrance. Warrior #8 thrusts at Raban but fails to make contact even with the large man. Warrior #9 thrusts the amphistaff in spear format at Kell and the spear does massive damage to Kell's right arm doing 13 points. The sudden pain causes him to drop his spear to the ground. Kell gives a slight scream of pain not that the damage was bad but its happened again! This must be the third time his arm has been badly wounded. Z'leyra raises her sling ready to fire. She assumes Kell will be forced to back off giving her a chance to fire on the Vong warrior. Caladan continues to move westward. Kiet grips his ropes in one hand and dagger in the other. Will comes near to help Kell but his Tulwar doesn't penetrate the tough Vong crab armor. Strie'bog continues to move westward. Zhou moves forward around Kiet and goes to help Kell. He raises his sword to parry any possible strike while he helps to move Kell a bit further away. [Time: 12:56:24 pm] Actions? Comments? Next Update....Friday...
