GM: Ack. From Will: [Re: Actions[ Will under his breath says "Pssst... Arawn... say... OOC: Who is next to Lin? GM: Ack. Sorry I rushed the end of the update so didn't go into details on where he was and such. But it does allow players to take charge and insert them next to the person. I also wanted to do more descriptions on the new visitor but ran out of time overall. From Kell: [Re: Actions] [Don't know who is next to Lin, or close to him. But does that matter? Heck no! :) ] As the disturbance is knocking people left and right, and Lin falls, Ha'Kell has an idea this is a summoning. Summoning being one of his favorite things, even though there's been no chance on this adventure. Ha'Kell quickly moves to Lin, taking his sword hand and lowering it, telling Capt Lin, "No. He is a friend, we.... [Moving on - of course Kell volunteers to look at the next cave, but he has the detection issue. Either way, scouting is good. Someone go look at the end of the hall.] If no one volunteers go to look, Kell will go. GM: Ack. No. Doesn't matter. If it is something critical like a missile about to impale Kell's heart and he only has one chance that of Kiet throwing himself in front of the arrow then it might matter. Not that I'd get any such ideas - I'd just reverse the people. There is no other cave. It is the hole and then everything else. :) From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions] Z'leyra loudly states "Those of us standing are here to... GM: Ack. From Fremea: [Re: Actions] Fremea, having found what she hopes is the right... GM: Ack. From Arawn: [Re: Actions] Possibly. The sensation Arawn is feeling is one he's felt around the forces of Kototh so Kotothi or maybe something new that's tingling his spider-sense. As the Merkabah and Ae'quin came into being within the cramped tunnel Arawn regarded the servant of the Balance with a keen but respectful eye. Waiting until Z'leyra had finished speaking he replied in turn. "To aid us in saving this world and the realms of the gods... -------------------------------------------------------- Map Feedback: I actually like the dual maps you've started posting. The hexes allow for ease in determining distance but do, at times, seem cluttered and challenging to easily read so the cleared up map is definitely appreciated. --------------------------------------------------------- Kotothi Sensing: To make things easy Arawn would relay everything posted in the last update to the party regarding his efforts to sense anything more regarding the force, possibly Kotothi, that is making him uneasy. GM: Ack. Thanks on the map feedback your the only one. It is more work and I'm lazy but I'll try to get the staff to do more dual maps just means I'll have to order them and point fingers at them doing it and that's hard work - much too lazy but we'll see. For large maps it is even harder but small ones shouldn't be a issue for the dwarves. Ack on the sense stuff relayed to others. -------------------------------------------------------------- [New Stuff] [Augado 10th, 1634TH] [Location: Middle Katai Plains] [ Mountains west of Pamau] [Time: 2:14:12 pm] Moments before the new visitor appears, Kiet reacts to the strange feeling Arawn is picking up. Kiet asks, "is it from a certain direction?" [Time: 2:16:48 pm] As the disturbance is knocking people left and right, and Lin falls, Ha'Kell has an idea this is a summoning. Summoning being one of his favorite things, even though there's been no chance on this adventure. Ha'Kell knows that each summoning is different. Some magic create effects like noise, lights and other things in how they are sensed. While Kell didn't know it was a full blown summoning he did sense something that Arawn did not. He did sense something about to happen. Maybe when he becomes a true master of summoning he'll be able to recognize it even before it happens. But his skill in the spell does give him some edge as well as his half-Elf edge. While most in the party knows the simple summoning magics he is a bit more experienced than the others. Then the new creature and the strange horses appears. Lin charges toward the creature in the chariot. Ha'Kell quickly moves to Lin, taking his sword hand and lowering it, telling Capt Lin, "No. He is a friend, we need him. And you don't want to die this way. Wait. Put your sword away." Kell's stays close to Lin making sure he doesn't get himself killed. Lin's sword arm flexes under the pressure of Kell's arm. It is clear the military man is upset that a new threat comes to the tunnel. Also upset that the people are not killing it! He wonders if he is the only brave man here. As the party stares at the creature and he stares back, Lin slowly calms down under Kell's quick words. He lowers his sword and begins to pace back and forth as adrenaline is still going wild inside him. Fremea, having found what she hopes is the right possessions, hears the racket outside the treasure cave. She pokes her head out and sees a very large looking man (well that is the only way she can understand it) with horses and quickly readies her bow, just in case. After Fremea realizes it is actually here to help, having been summoned, something she is not used to that much still, she will quickly pack the stuff she found with hers and start on the scouting process for the next room. The visitor stares around the room ending up at Arawn's face to bombard with his dark eyes. Will under his breath says, "Pssst... Arawn... say something." Z'leyra loudly states, "Those of us standing are here to fight an incursion of Vong that seek to conquer this world. We would welcome your assistance." The Merkabah turns to stare at Z'leyra as if to wonder why a puny female human is wearing the equipment she has? As she tells about the Vong, he looks around. Raban points to the dead pile of Vong behind and to the left of the Merkabah. The bull creature turns and stares at the gray headed beings. The party then realizes the Merkabah must spend half their day staring? As the Merkabah and A'equin came into being within the cramped tunnel Arawn regarded the servant of the Balance with a keen but respectful eye. Waiting until Z'leyra had finished speaking he replied in turn. "To aid us in saving this world and the realms of the gods from a force would destroy all we know. The Vong, invaders from a world thrown out of balance, seemingly devoid of even the barest essence of energies that make up the Three Worlds and strongly resistant to magic, are seeking to awaken a World Brain that will threaten and likely destroy this world. I would seek to not only save the Three Worlds from this threat and save any prisoners here but, hopefully, plant the seed to allow the Vong Outcasts, slaves to the elite of their society, a chance to return their own world to a balanced state and maybe in the process begin to heal the damage done to other realms they have invaded." Arawn, realizing the Merkabah's role as an agent of Balance, hoped that the desire to redress a greater imbalance would be appreciated by the spirit. "I do not know the full extent of things here in their base but any aid would be of benefit for the Vong and their living weapons are deadly mysteries to us. And though sighting has yet to be confirmed I have sensed the presence of the Eldest Serpent and fear his hand in these things. For the reasons I have mentioned and as ones who have come here at the request of the High Elder I hope that you will view us favorably and assist us in this mission." As he waited to hear the Merkabah's reply he kept a careful eye on this surroundings, seeking to halt Lin if he managed to slip past Kell. The Merkabah loooks around the tunnel at the various assorted people from small ones to giants. Weaklings to those who could punch out a wall. Some in the party roll their eyes at Arawn's words of the outcasts. There he goes talking about saving others who in some opinion, do not deserve life. Some just wish he doesn't put the party in jeopardy saving Vong. The Merkabah listens to Arawn's words and the flattery to his Balance nature. He knows the being before though he never met him. Their kind are so oriented to one mind set they refuse to see the big picture. But maybe this one is here to prove the others wrong? To offset the balance of the Alfar in the past. "I know your kind. You are the leader of this ...group? Half look like they couldn't find a one legged blind Sidh Boar. These things...", he points to the Vong, "look like they are drunken skinny trolls." He looks back to Arawn. "This High Elder I do not know who you speak of nor care." He climbs back onto the chariot and does a quick look at Lin who was almost foolish enough to touch his steeds. Then he turns back to the front of the tunnel looking at the fork to the left. He glances back and wonders how he'll be able to move backward if the Alfar asks him to do so. At least forward he could get going that direction. Turning back to Arawn. "These Vong I can kill. I do not understand this threat you speak of. But if the true balance is in danger I will do as requested." He looks to the ceiling. "This place is a bit stifling here. I shall go now." He reaches for the reigns. Farseeker raises a gloved hand, "wait. We are just going to let him go fly about and shoot arrows at them? A few of their flyers..." He switches to Marenetia..."could take him out. Is this wise? We'd lose any surprise. What is the plan?" Actions? Comments? Next Update....Friday? GM: May be a update Friday just don't know. Some new family issues tonight and Thursday will be a full possible 12 hour day at work so may be too tired to work. But I may get lazy and just get home early. So we shall see. But if nothing comes out you know why. Blame Alex I always do :) GM: I need to clarify the terrain. Folks are thinking there is another cave up ahead. So facing the door inside the pit cave. I can't recall the distance values but will estimate if need those details read old updates. Going through the door you enter a Vong-ified tunnel likely made by Vong creatures. Go about 50 or so feet straight. Then you turn and another 50 or 75 tunnel. This is where the tunnel looks to be volcanic not Vong made. Going straight down this second tunnel you round the corner to the current battle site. There are two smaller caves along the right wall. The tunnel here is about 100 feet if I recall. The first small cave is the treasure room which has only been searched by Fremea. Kell plans to but hasn't had time yet. But if want that time I can do it. the second cave another 50 feet down the area is the sentry post. This post seems to have been a gatekeeper sentry area for the pit and thus the lake caves. Can't get there or vice versa from here. So this is a critical (they assumed) sentry area. So to recap. Walk from pit cave, straight. Turn right walk straight. Turn a bit right and cave is there. Battle site. Tunnel with 2 small caves. I know this right and right again doesn't make sense but based on elevations made up and slight angles it isn't full right 90 degrees so no going in circles. Think of it as going up stone stairs that twist up. So back to battle site. The tunnel facing in one way ends dead end. But at the left at the end it twists into another small tunnel. This lava made tunnel is about 50 feet or so. At the end of it a dead end no other caves is a incline. You need to walk up the incline/ramp about 25-30 feet. Then you are level to a whole new massive cavern. The hole above the ramp is level to the ground of this cavern. It is vertical not on its side. So when you pop up you are like bugs bunny looking out to see if the hunter is there holding his gun. If you recall the map done by the villagers. When you stand on the level ground you can look directly up and see a 1000' oval like cavern edges. At the top is a rocky/bumpy like surface seen by Fremea and others. The villager reports that on the bottom its about 1000 feet wide from side to side. So there is plenty of open space here. If you recall the map one side of the ground floor seems to be a air field for the flyers. The other seems to be strange structures the villagers didn't know about. Two sides of the cavern is sheer wall. But the other two sides (opposite sides) seem to have caves in them going in range from mid level to the near top. But he wasn't sure on the distance or scale as all of the prisoners were rushed. So it is now a question of who goes up and once there its 99.9% chance that you'll be spotted. Think of the bugs bunny situation. Stick head out of hole and bam. Does this help?
