If it fails, go for his own dagger. If I eliminate my opponent, I'd be happy to (single-phase casting) Entangle any of the other Brigadiers. GM: Ack. -------------------------------------------------------------- [New Stuff] [Augado 10th, 1634TH] [Location: Middle Katai Plains] [ Mountains west of Pamau] [Time: 2:26:31 pm] Fremea prepares a healing spell for Will after finding his pulse very weak. She knows Z'leyra could heal him to full capacity, but she is missing. She also knows Arawn has a better chance of healing. She knows she is not trained to heal humans but her own kind. But if she can get his pulse to a decent level maybe he can be regenerate fully in other healing. Kiet doesn't like this close quarters with an enemy. He is upset the throw missed him. But at least he didn't waste magical energy in it. He decides to prepare a spell of his own to fight the enemy in his face. Caladan realizes that being attacked by magic detecting bugs alive is not fun. He also knows he is wounded and could die not from Vong or Brigaders but stupid bugs. So he decides to cast a spell to defend himself. Fremea places one hand on Will's neck and another on his forehead and casts the healing spell. She knows it will have less effect on a human but it might help. She speaks the words quickly and green healing energy leaves her invisible hands to quickly enter Will's body and becomes invisible under his own spell. She knows at least something helped but with him invisible it is hard to judge. At the same time Caladan and Kiet casts their spells. Caladan raises a hand over his head and flings in downward from the sky and toward the Brigader in front of him. Suddenly from behind to his left shoulder and 20 feet up a gust of magical wind blows. This causes the bugs to lose motion as their strength is too weak. Their tiny bodies are sent forward at a diagonal angle from up heading down at the Brigader. The bugs are slammed into his body and he is forced to flail his arms but the wind is so hard it is difficult fighting a strong wind. Kiet speaks the words taught to him so long ago. Three of his fingers flick toward the brigader right in front of him only two feet away. Suddenly the clothing of the man bursts into intense magical flames. The man instantly screams as the man is incinerated from outside in taking so much damage he is killed twice over. Kiet can smell the foul scent of burnt flesh in his nostrils a second after the spell goes off. The human collapses to the ground dead before he knew what hit him. The flyer in the west continues in that direction leaving Arawn behind. It ends up above the first home in the east of the home collection. Ben'dar glances over to see Z'leyra starting to stand up and rushes to the door to open it. He glances again at the downed flyer but sees no Raban at this time. He grabs Z'leyra's arm and becomes invisible with her grasp and rushes out pulling her. Z'leyra notices the full extent of the crashed flyer. She wonders if anyone in the home could've been one to reveal the secrets here. Z'leyra rushes to the next home (G11) and opens the door. Both sees two more Brigaders inside. Ben'dar grins and enters the home grabbing his spear in both hands becoming visible like a bird of prey attacking a creature in a field. One of the men on the right is standing but the one on Ben'dar's side is sitting on the ground packing some clothes in a bag. Ben'dar is so fast the man doesn't see the spear stab him in the upper right chest killing the man before he blinks in confusion. Z'leyra swings her staff at the standing man but the blow is wild and does not make contact with him. Raban and Lin, in his arm, fly past the Vong ladder structure toward the tower in the north. Now both are about 120 feet away from it. Farseeker thrusts at the brigader behind him after turning to face him. The large blade slices through his right mid chest killing the man. Arawn continues west and ends up about 100 feet north of the tunnel below ground. He studies the area in the west and tries to figure out how the Vong ladder system was even formed but he may never know the mysteries of the Vong technology. Kell comes around the corner of Kiet stepping over the crispy human and comes behind the second Brigader. He doesn't want Kiet to get hurt and knows Caladan can take the last one out. He stabs and impales in the back middle left ribs deep and kills the man. Lin glances east and notices the flyer about 150 feet or so. He points it out to Raban. The elementals ignore the humans fighting as their orders are the Vong and flyers. The first two on the left side of the group move toward Flyer #17. One smashes doing 10 points to the flyer. The second one does a minor smash but its magical destruction attack rips the coral apart doing 9 points. The flyer is now 2/3rd destroyed with cracks and crushed coral points. The third elemental charges Flyer #19 and pounds on it but does only light damage to it. Caladan free of the bugs for now swings the war staff at the last brigader hitting him in the shoulder doing heavy damage but he is only knocked back but not killed. The last brigader in the group with Caladan begins to swing at his body with his arms and hands to get rid of the swarm of bugs. In the process the man drops his sword and is also wounded. So dazed begins to back up panicing. ------------------ [Time: 2:26:34 pm] The flyer zooms toward the west over the next set of homes and straight for Raban and Lin. At 30 feet it fires the two horn weapons firing the plasma balls. But both go wild missing the two by a foot above them both, splashing and exploding in fire against the western wall. Ben'dar turns to stab at the other Brigader in the home impaling him in the side lower back killing the man before Z'leyra can protest to keep him alive. Z'leyra bends down and checks the clothing and other items for value. With her increased magical speed she finds only 3 gold and 6 silver coins. Nothing else but their weapons and clothing of value. Raban tells Lin, "ready." The bard rushes to the ground and at about 3 feet off the ground he releases the man. Raban then continues to go back up turning and flying toward the Vong flyer. He lands on top of the flyer and grabs a hold of the left "horn" of the flyer. As he does with his free hand he grips the small almost hidden strange stalk between the two horns. He found it the last flyer he fought and figured it must be some sort of way for it to see or sense. Gripping hard he pulls the spongy like yellow like plant stalk from the top of the coral. The stalk is meaty but fleshy and he figures it must be part of a vital area. He yanks as hard as he can the 3 inch stalk. Within a second he pulls it apart pulling something from the inside that looks like a glob of flesh like material. Farseeker comes forward into the gust of wind and using his long sword he kills the last brigader. Arawn continues westward watching the flyer attack something. Then he notices a large object fly after it and realizes that it has to be Raban attacking the flyer. Kell eyes the area and realizes the enemy is dead and calls the elementals forward near him. Lin lands on his feet crouching and runs toward the tower. He figures it is safer to seek cover than be in the open. The elementals move slowly toward Kell and loom over the trader ready to move on. Caladan moves away from the group in hopes to draw the bugs away with a plan to get rid of them. Kiet collects his rope and heads to join Kell and Farseeker. Fremea begins to check Will head to toe to inspect if he has serious wounds. She passes her hands in every direction. She can feel wet dampness near a shoulder but it doesn't feel bad and can't detect any wound. But then she comes to the transmuted armor and can't get her hands beneath it. He could have broken ribs but just can't get to them. She goes to his waist and lower into sensitive areas. Then moves to his legs finding many what has to be bumps and bruises from the fall. Aside from any possible chest wounds she can't get to he seems in decent shape 1 but not at full capacity. Most of the Vong bugs have been smashed and rendered ineffective from the wind and hitting the brigader. But some still are moving. The wind is forward against the area but when the human dies the bugs are tossed by the wave of air outside the wind created. They quickly fly toward Caladan and attack. Caladan takes a light amount of damage from the bug bites. ------------------ [Time: 2:26:37 pm] Caladan builds magical energy to get rid of the fast moving bugs since batting them with his staff is difficult. Away from the others now he casts a fire shower around him about 5 feet from his side. The rest of the bugs are killed by the shower of flames. He shakes his head wondering why he is the one to get the bugs and flying bat things. Inside the flyer the pilot suddenly sees inside his head darkness. He is unsure what is going on with his outside vision and orders the flyer mentally to give him the vision back. He knows Shapers create things like this flyer and they don't always act as one likes. This thing must be one of those situations. The flyer gives a reply back in a few milliseconds that it can't see. Also that it senses something on the outside. The pilot hits the navigation hood and demands that the flyer obey him. Without seeing where he is going the flyer is blind and as he realizes this the flyer's position seems to jerk. Something large seems to have forced the flyer to shift somehow? In the few milliseconds that has happened the pilot realizes he was flying somewhat west to go back to the target to fire upon. That means he could hit the -- Fremea glances down at Will's invisible body. She knows he will wake up with one big headache. She knows she can't help him further. Maybe someone can use magic to recover him from being knocked out. She takes to the air and looks at the field. She can see the towering elementals and the group with fallen enemy around them. She decides to do a one time pass while flying toward the last tower. Raban is a quarter of the flyer's weight and enough to shift the course of the flyer. He points it toward the west wall and hopefully toward where he hopes it will go. A second later he slides off the side of the flyer avoiding the dovin basal that seems to suck everything in its path at the rear. Then the very fast flyer slams into the bottom area, the floor, of the north west tower. It is so fast that it crushes the tower from one side to another and slams into the back wall behind it. The momentum is so great the dovin basal sucks in the wall matter as fast as it can. But the Vong animal, the dovin basal, is swamped by matter. A millisecond later the flyer is crushed upon itself like a can under a person's feet. The tower and coral explode in a shower of dust and wood. This creates a 7 foot crater in the side of the wall itself. About a tenth of the original flyer remains in the wall but the rest has been obliterated. Raban grins and realizes he isn't watching his own body and skids on the ground like he used to when he first learned to fly. He drops the stalk somewhere and slides on the ground like a rock thrown by a giant causing dust and dirt to fly. Ben'dar and Z'leyra exit the home and head to the one next in line (G13). Something behind them and to the left they can hear crash or crack but can't tell what it is. They quickly get to the home and open it. There standing as if about to exit is a Vong warrior. Ben'dar lunges forward with his spear but fails to hit the agile creature. Z'leyra steps inside after Ben'dar pushes the Vong further inside. She swings her war staff at him but also fails to hit him. Raban coughs up dirt as he rolls over and looks at the tower that is now collapses and a clump of wood. He smiles and knows this is fun. He gets to his knees and looks around to see if there are other flyers coming. He spots Lin and wonders what to do next. Could leave the ladders or the homes. Farseeker watches Caladan clean his nuisance away and looks around. The enemy is gone and those scary rock things are still here. He looks to the last tower. "Let's take the tower!" Then he runs in that direction. Arawn continues westward amazed at the destruction of the tower. This time he sees the whole thing as Raban escapes the destruction at the last second. Kell joins Farseeker heading to the north east. Captain Lin looks around and eyes the Vong bodies at the debris field of the tower. They don't seem to be moving and likely won't be. Caladan turns to jog after Farseeker. The three elementals move slowly toward Kell to follow him. Moments before the tower was destroyed the three Vong in the tower watch the flyer fly toward them. One panics and seems to lose his self control, which is rare for trained Vong, yelling by his Orb to the Vong pilot to move away. One tries to descend the rope ladder but it is too late. The other Vong warrior decides to jump out of the side of the tower and impacts on the ground only to be crushed by the tower over his head. Other Vong have been summoned to the ground to deal with the new threat by the ladders. But it been only maybe 2.5 minute the attack started. The Vong are taken off guard and the warriors try to assemble the troops heading down the ladders. But others don't even know what is going on even 2 minutes later. The one Vong warrior attacked by Ben'dar swings wildly at the barbarian but fails to hit him. Caladan and Kiet hurry after Farseeker and Kell. ------------------ [Time: 2:26:40 pm] Fremea gets higher elevation to see if there are others on the field. She figures a good 200 off the ground should yield the full view of the field which is 600 feet or so by 200 feet. She ends up about 100 feet high at this point. Ben'dar thrusts his spear at the Vong this time hitting him in the lower left abdomen below his ribs doing 10 points of damage. From behind Z'leyra slams the war staff down on the warrior's left shoulder doing 4 points. Raban decides that going up the ladders would be best but if others come behind them it could trap them. So he decides to clear the homes. He goes north 10 feet and then 20 feet to the nearest home (D9). He examines it to find the door knob or latch or whatever but can't seem to find it. He knows he isn't the smartest bard out there. He growls in frustration figuring maybe he'll just take the thing apart with his hands. Farseeker continues eastward. Arawn continues westward now about 80 feet from the nearest home structure. He looks up to ensure no flyers have taken off or come back inside. He notices the ceiling has closed up again so the flyers outside must be chasing the chariot or he fears they could find the escaped villagers. Kell continues running after Farseeker. Lin shakes his head at the glee the giant is having. He isn't taking the thing too seriously. He heads after Raban and also tries to find the way inside. The Living Earth head after Kell like obedient dogs. The Vong inside the home thrusts his amphistaff at Ben'dar hitting him in the right middle chest doing no damage as his armor blocks the blow. Caladan and Kiet jog after Kell and the others. One of the home doors open and a brigader steps outside facing west. He stops suddenly when he is face to face with Captain Lin only a foot away. He begins to scan the military man from head to foot to figure out who he is. He doesn't seem to be wearing the typical Brigade uniform or look like them. Inside the home another voice is heard, "move it!" ------------------ [Time: 2:26:43 pm] Fremea flies further up now about 170 feet off the ground and continues to scan the field as she flies more northward. Ben'dar stabs the Vong in the middle right chest but only doing 1 more point. Raban hears the words himself and quickly comes around the other side. He sees the human from behind in the gray uniform that has to be a brigader. Plus he sees the sword on his hip and knows he is not a prisoner. He taps the man on the shoulder and he turns around surprised. That's when he sees the fist smack him in the face. The blow crushes his nose and kills the man instantly. Farseeker breaks the line of flyers and scans left and right. He then notices a body in the distance. Looks like it must be one of the tower guards. He is on the ground In front of Farseeker I s the strange stone like ladder leading up only about 20 feet away. Kell joins along side Farseeker. Kell can see a lone human bow near the body of the tower guard. He knows the Vong do not use those bows so is unsure who the owner must be. Captain Lin nods to Raban and steps forward and looks inside to see two brigaders looking at their fallen comrade. He stabs one of the men with his sword though his stomach and kills him instantly. Finally something he can do to help in this mission. The Living Earth lumber as fast as they can behind Kell. Z'leyra bashes the Vong this time in the opposite shoulder doing light damage on his right shoulder. Caladan and Kiet join up with the others heading to the tower. The two brigaders attack Lin drawing their swords. One fails to hit in the quick swing. But the other impales Lin in the lower right abdomen below the ribs just above his hip doing a massive 9 points to the man. Lin lurches back in reaction to the blow. ------------------ [Time: 2:26:46 pm] Fremea flies the last bit of distance and gets a full view of the view. She sees no one else moving behind flyers or elsewhere. Of course they could be inside but she figures by now they would react if they could. She glances down to the others about 200 feet below her. She is about 170 feet from the tower. Raban enters the home and grabs one of the brigaders and yanks arm around the man's neck and twists snapping the man's neck quickly killing him. Farseeker watches the tower as he runs toward it. Suddenly he notices one Vong fall from the tower and hits the ground. Blood is seen on his back and he doesn't move. Farseeker looks up but doesn't see movement? Ben'dar stabs the Vong warrior in his chest but the crab armor blocks the damage. Arawn finally reaches the edge of the homes (E15). He turns back to the east and can see the large rock elementals moving a bit. But no flyers about to attack him. He begins to concentrate to the danger sense flowing around him. Then he notices it. From this angle a area above the ground seems to flicker and shimmer. It is now to his right, south of him and about 30 feet off the ground? He concentrates more and he can see a faint outline of a circle with some areas around it blotchy as if cracked. He has seen such things before, a portal to a new world like the upper world. But it is the color not usually seen. A very faint gray on the edges of the circle with the blotchy areas a faint brownish color. If it is a portal it is about 20 feet off the ground? No person could get through it with a simple jump. Usually a portal is attached to a ground point so beings can transverse through it. Only from this angle does it seem to have form. From the east it was virtually invisible. His other senses seem to be ablaze of the feeling of Kotothi around or through it. It shimmers as if it has form but no form at the same time. The portal is about 50 feet in diameter which is also not normal for most portals. Also the color is strange as if it has been around for years maybe even forever. Most portals go away when a person goes through them. Even stationary portals eventually shift positions every so often. Most portals also are more colorful and bright as if the energy to make them is alive. But this one is dull and almost invisible. Aside from the thin circle edges and the blotchy cracks there is no visible form. The blotchy areas seem to be a crack in the space of the air itself. Kell joins along side Farseeker and also notices the tower guards seem to be either sleeping or the one guard is down on the ground? Lin wounds the last brigader as the door to the home closes. The warrior slices a nick off Ben'dar's left arm doing 2 more points of damage. Z'leyra slams the magical war staff onto the warrior's right middle back almost where a human heart might be. The massive blunt force trauma is enough to finish off the Vong killing him from the blow. Caladan and Kiet join the others. The last brigader turns from Lin to face the giant and tries to swipe at him but his swing is wild in his weakened wounded state and he misses. ------------------ [Time: 2:26:49 pm] Fremea dives down to the ground to joins the others ending about 130 feet off the ground and 20 feet behind them. Ben'dar and Z'leyra inspect the Vong warrior and the various items in the small home. As with the Vong spartan life he only has his leathers, weapons and armor. Raban slams his fist at the man's chest. He was hoping to hit his heart area but hits him in the left shoulder doing enough damage to kill the man. Farseeker continues this time a bit slower toward the tower ending up about 60 feet south of it and 20 feet from the east wall. Arawn peeks around the corner and sees no none in that row between the homes. He goes to the other side and finds no one else in that row. But the homes do block view beyond the row he is at. The next row of homes north is 100 feet and to the south another 100 feet. But Arawn continues to stare back up at the portal to gleam some meaning to why it was here. Kell moves slowly with spear drawn toward the tower and ends up besides Farseeker. Captain Lin sags to the ground and quickly checks his wound out. He finds he is hurt bad but not fatal. He tears a bit of cloth from his pants and wraps it around the wound. He can stop the bleeding but it will need some treatment. The living earth elementals move toward Kell's general direction and away for him to order something to destroy. Caladan notices Kell and Farseeker watching the tower. If it is empty or the guards dead then he is not sure how that could be. Maybe some other party member got here already? But as he moves to join the other two he notices a section of the east wall look a bit odd. Squinting he has seen such things as game blinds in the wild. He rushes to the east wall to inspect the area. With a gloved hand he reaches at the wall and barely touches it. The wall seems to wrinkle at his touch. Then he realizes it must be a cloth or some sort like the ceiling. He looks back to ensure at least Kiet is watching and bends over to the covering. He pulls the cover back a half inch and peers inside. His eyes widen in shock and he quickly closes the flap. He turns around and whispers, "Vong - 35-40 at tables. Two humans chained to the wall." Kiet glances to the Zen'da and tries to figure out the purpose of the hidden area. But then he realizes if the Vong need quick access to the flyers the pilots and maybe their troops might need a room to be in at a moment's notice. This might explain that only a few flyers got off the ground. Could they all be unaware of what is going on or using the 2 minutes or so to prepare their gear? Kiet knows that almost 40 to 5 plus the elementals will be a very difficult fight. To make it even worse there are human prisoners. Of course if Caladan could toast a few inside with a nice fireball that would end some of their numbers. But it would kill the prisoners. Course with wounded members in his group it might end up killing them if they don't act fast. ------------------ [Time: 2:26:52 pm] Actions? Comments? Next Update....Monday... GM: I did 7 phases for now. I wanted to do 5 but had a mistake in the timeline so spells ended too quickly. I fixed those paragraphs and spells last night so the delay was for that reason. Since I was delayed I went and did 7 to get the group to discover the new threat to them in order to react now rather than next week. Mana/health report is updated. I will do a zoomed in map of the area Farseeker is at just in case the 35-40 decide to join the fray. GM: Situation Report - Arawn - Need next order of business. Do you check the homes like the others or do something else? Fremea - You can warn the others the field is free if you need to. I will assume moving to join the others unless stated otherwise.
