GM: Ack. Actually would best dramatize a good snore.:) From Kiet: [Re: Actions] Kiet doesn't really care what happens to the male laying in front of him. Casualty of war. Chion, on the other hand, is a valuable resource...and our main escape route if things get ugly...well, uglier. Kiet intends to follow Kell around, and hopefully that will entail sticking near the elementals. Hopefully we'll be safe. Ropes...lots of ropes... GM: Ack. -------------------------------------------------------------- [New Stuff] [Augado 10th, 1634TH] [Location: Middle Katai Plains] [ Mountains west of Pamau] [Time: 2:27:01 pm] Arawn looks up to the portal and wonders if there is a way to peer through the invisible threshold. But while some portals can be seen through he knows the vast majority are veils from one world to another. Veils that can't be seen through. Arawn decides the portal is fascinating but allocates mana for a spell. Then he quickly casts invisibility upon himself. Z'leyra and Ben'dar run the last 30 feet to the next row of homes (H row). Coming around the south side to the door Z'leyra opens it up. Both see three Vong inside. Two are standing and one is laying down. The two look over to see the sudden disturbance and are as always confused by the lack of visible bodies. Ben'dar releases Z'leyra and charges the one on the left as usual. He stabs forward with his spear but the Vong's reflex is good enough to see it coming and dodges the blow. Z'leyra rushes inside the tight space and swings the magical war staff at the one on the right doing 9 points to his back ribs. Raban tries to punch the right Vong but he is either too tired from taking down two flyers or just losing his cool. The punch goes wild and misses the Vong by a good foot. Farseeker can hear the sudden appearance of the elemental inside the inner cave thanks to Chion. It seems like a chorus of 3 dozen Vong's are so surprised the military begins to learn some of their foulest curse words in their own language. He looks to Caladan who is clearly preparing to torch some Vong. He keeps his great sword level and waits for any Vong to escape the carnage. Chion fans out behind Caladan and waits for any escape Vong as well. He just hopes he didn't miss any prisoner under the tables or something. Kell watches the other two elementals lumber toward the east wall to enter the cave. he tells them if possible to bring the earth down on them. Inside the Vong small home, Captain Lin thrusts at one of the Vong but fails to make contact. The other two elementals move toward the cave in one hulking lumbering almost lifeless movements. They enter into the cave wall as if it wasn't there. Inside the three elementals begin to smash, bash, punch, crush and otherwise cause havoc against the Vong. One Vong is killed instantly. Five others are wounded very badly in the fight that breaks out. All at once the Vong all attack their targets. The three fighting Raban and Lin swing, thrust and swipe but all fail to hit both of the men. The three being attacked by Z'leyra and Ben'dar try to rise to the occasional. One thrusts at Ben'dar hits him in the chest but his armor protects him. The one on the ground thrusts upward with his fist hitting the side of the barbarian but his armor blocks the blow. The other turns toward Z'leyra's general direction. He swings to try to find her and makes contact on her left upper chest but her armor protects her. Just a few minutes earlier the Vong were sitting and enjoying the time away from their duties. Raiding and taking prisoners is hard work. Vong aren't known for their fun and games but when they relax it tends to be games like coufee between fingers to see if a finger will pass the odds and not be cut off. Maybe a game of skull dice where the loser loses more than his pride but maybe a ear or a hand. Then the classic game of branding where the hot coals are used to brand the others in the most sensitive areas of the body for the longest time one can stand. The crew of the flyers are glad to be away from the others upstairs like the boring shapers. This is about the only place in this god forsaken rock of a planet that allows them some down time. Even their commander accidentally got his orb soaked by his mug of cerean ale. He had planned to get a new one from the shapers but he had a bet with his men that the female chained up could live without half her organs for at least 5 kilagams of time. Sure the Shapers will be annoyed at them losing the working Orb but accidents do happen or so the hoo-mans say. Not like that some enemy would attack them here in their fortress. Then the vile enemy showed up. Suddenly their prisoners were whisked away somewhere. This wasn't bad enough then the large human showed up with a large moving rock. The Vong weren't actually surprised by the rock as the shapers do such things like it is everyday work. Then the rock creature started to attack and all manner of order was lost. It was so sudden only 3 Vong warriors could react fast enough in the ambush to do nothing to the creature. Of the group of Vong surprised by the elemental 14 react fast enough to try to attack it. They use their amphistaves to whip, stab, flex in snake form, poison it and just plain bash it but all 14 do not do enough damage to affect the rock creature. -------------- [Time: 2:27:04 pm] Caladan finishes his fireball magical energy buildup and speaks the words. As he does he uses his free hand with the staff to knock the leather flap covering the cave entrance to the side to give a free view. From those around him like Chion, Farseeker, Fremea and Kell they can see the small cave with 5 long tables. Around the tables are maybe 5-10 Vong each. In the middle is one of the large elementals bashing Vong and smashing a table. In front of them the two new elementals who just entered the cave from the wall are lumbering to take their own targets. Caladan has to lean to the right to get a better angle as one of the elementals is right in his way. But at this high a spell the fireball will be fast moving and enormous once it spreads out. He finishes the magical words and shoves his hand toward the cave. A large small fireball shoots from his right hand and immediately expands moving forward at about 20 feet per second. Lucky the elementals are immune to fire so they might only be a bit warm. But the Vong are easy targets. From past experience he knows the Vong can resist the magic of the fire. But their clothing can not. That will create a inferno around them that will affect them by collateral damage. Within two seconds the fireball splashes onto the rear wall of the inner cave. Of the 35-40 Vong seen 18 are consumed by the fire immediately. At least five of those were already wounded by the elementals. Four of the Vong are lucky to avoid the blast along the north side of the cave. This leaves 16 that have been massively damaged by the fire but not killed by it. It is clear in no time that all but those lucky to escape the blast are in serious trouble (at least 17-30 points). Caladan smiles to himself and finds a new sport for fun. If only he could find this many clumped in one place again. At the same time the tallest Elemental hears Kell's request to take the cave roof down. This is pretty easy for him but it is a good 8 feet above it. It can't touch it but it can use his magic. He releases a blast of magical destruction that creates a cone of 100 cubic feet above him. This causes a chain reaction in the Vong-formed side cave to start a small collapse of rock debris and sand. Large boulders the size of a dragon's head lands on Vong. This added damage to already burning bodies causes 12 more Vong to perish. This leaves four Vong heavily wounded and 5 not wounded as they dodge the debris falling on them. Fremea sees that the situation is at hand. She decides to fly toward the nearby stairs to check it out. Hovering she for the first time gets a full view of the stairs. She has seem human buildings with elaborate staircases and winding stairs. Usually only 2-3 floors. To know that this goes all the way to the roof some 800 or more feet above impresses her. She figures the structure has to be made by some odd strange Shaper device, creature or other technology. While it looks stone like it can be easily determined the lack of stone here made that impossible. Staring ahead the structure is even in design and style. From the ground there is a set of stairs to a level 10 feet off the ground. The diagonal stairs are going upwards at 45 degrees and are about 10 steps. Once at that next level the area is a flat surface 15 feet wide by 20 feet deep. Once on the next level you turn and twist to face a new set of diagonal steps going up on the other side of the level. It is a very modern (skyscraper) look to it over all. The only problem is the steps have no open area between the steps so you could peer up or down. You might be able to look up a tiny gap to see who is coming up or down but it is a limited view. Fremea looks up and knows that she will have to go up to determine if any Vong are coming down. Ben'dar stabs the Vong near him piercing his crab armor in his lower right chest doing 9 points of damage. Z'leyra swings her staff but fails to hit the Vong she is attacking. In another home Raban punches the Vong in his middle left chest crushing ribs doing 17 points of damage. Farseeker and Chion await for any Vong that may flee from the carnage. Arawn now invisible rounds the corner to the home he has been standing by for some time. This is the first time he has seen the home structure. His eyes though can tell the subtle color differences of the door and based on previous technology he has seen he finally finds the door handle. In this case it is a inset membrane to the right of the door. Pressing it a bit the door opens. As the door slides to the left inward along the left side of the wall itself the Druid sees no Vong or anyone else for that matter. Captain Lin thrusts his sword into the Vong in front of him doing 7 points through his middle left chest. The three elementals move through the debris field and take out 3 more Vong with their large hands and arms. The Vong all attack at once around the complex. The three fighting Ben'dar and Z'leyra go first. Two of them strike Ben'dar in his chest and arm but his armor protects him both times. Z'leyra is attacked but this time she misses the swipe by a good half foot. The three Vong attack Raban and Lin. For Lin the one warrior gets a 2 point wound in his arm. The other two warriors stab desperately at the giant. One hits in the chest center but his armor protects. The other one feigns left and stabs to his left side mid rib and does 12 point blow slicing ribs and tissue. The two Vong who escaped the ready room cave fight to escape the danger behind them. One swings at Caladan but fails to hit wildly. The other one thrusts at Farseeker and hits him but doesn't penetrate his armor. At the same time another Vong escapes the falling debris and charges toward Chion. He thrusts but the amphistaff fails to hit. The other Vong inside the smaller cave try to escape the elementals and the debris. They are too busy trying to do this to attack the rock monsters. Caladan swings his staff and fails to hit the Vong next to him. Kiet ignores the male on the ground as he is probably better off dead than to survive this ordeal. He notices the three Vong who escaped the cave and grabs a rope ready to help out. [Time: 2:27:07 pm] Kiet clenches a rope segment and builds up magical energy for a spell. Kiet swings the rope over his head three quick times and tosses it to one of the Vong. This one is the one next to Caladan. The rope lands on the neck and left arm. Kiet casts the magical words and flicks his hand at the rope. Making a fist the rope tightens around the Vong's neck and arm pulling his upper arm up and away from his level position. This causes the Vong to begin to cough and release his left grip on the amphistaff. Fremea notices some Vong now in the area near the group but figures they can be handled. At least it isn't 30 or more escaping. Turning back Fremea realizes that the elementals will not be able to climb the stairs. It would be like a mountain giant trying to cross a stream using a lilypad without getting wet. Their "feet" is just too big to climb. Fremea begins to quickly but slowly ascend to check what is coming down. Ben'dar stabs to the Warrior in front of him doing more damage to his center left chest. Z'leyra slaps the Vong square in the chest doing 20 points cracking ribs and causing him to slam into another warrior behind him. Raban growls at being wounded and punches the warrior in the chest finally killing the warrior from the blow. Farseeker thrusts at the warrior in front of him impaling his lower left chest doing 15 points of damage. Chion does a round house kick and swipe with his sai at the one warrior next to him hitting him in the left ribs doing 15 points of damage. Arawn leaves the home not seeing anything of great value in the empty house. He gets to the next one (E13) and opens it but also finds the home empty. Kell heads forward and helps Caladan. He stabs with his spear at the entangled warrior but his body is flailing so much he fails to hit. Lin thrusts at his Vong but fails to make contact. The living elementals search for any Vong that may be moving. But they do not seem to find any or when they do the Vong are so agile they avoid their blows. The two Vong attack Lin and Raban again. The one on Lin fails to hit and the one on Raban also fail to make physical contact. The two on Ben'dar and Z'leyra attack. The two on Ben'dar fail to get close to him. But the one on Z'leyra gets a lucky shot hoping the invisible being is where he thinks it is. The amphistaff impales her on the upper right chest but lucky not deep enough to hit her heart. The damage even past her magical armor is 7 points. The entangled Vong tries to stab with one hand at Caladan as he is trying to get the rope off. But the blow is wild and he misses easily. The other two fail their own attacks on Chion and Farseeker. Caladan swings at the entangled warrior hitting him on the right ribs and doing 9 points of damage to him. Kiet grabs another rope and wonders if he should try another try at the other two. But Kiet's throwing angle could be bad hitting Kell or Farseeker. That would not help them. [Time: 2:27:10 pm] Kiet waves his other hand over the clenched fist to guide the entangled's rope to make it tighter. If he could reach the other arm it might help but the width of the arms of the warrior is too much. Fremea continues to ascend hovering and stopping every few levels of the stairs but doesn't see anyone. Only some 700 odd more feet to go. Ben'dar stabs the Vong in front of him in the center of his chest doing the final dozen or so points to kill him. Z'leyra annoyed that she can't get behind the Vong in this tight place swings and hits the warrior in the head doing the final points to kill the warrior. Raban backs up a foot and kicks the other Vong against the back wall behind him. The warrior slams into the wall and it makes a odd noise. The entire structure seems to vibrate and shake as if the walls itself are flexible or maybe alive if knowing the Vong. The warrior hits the wall and is suddenly bounced back from some unknown force of the living structure. The warrior slams back into Raban forcing him to the door. The warrior takes a bit of damage but neither are seriously hurt. Farseeker impales another wound into the Vong in front of him doing 6 more points. Chion fails to make contact with his Vong warrior. Arawn runs westward to the next home (E11). He opens it to find a human in Brigader clothing. Though invisible he smiles, finally someone he can question! He tries not to knock the guy out but will try to cast a spell on him before he can react. The man is standing placing his sword in his sheath a bit confused by the sudden door opening. Kell gets behind the entangled warrior and stabs into his rear killing him with the final damage needed. Lin fails to make contact with his sword on his Vong. The elementals find two Vong and smash a head so much there is nothing left, killing him. The other with other falling debris kills the Warrior. But the 3rd elemnntal fails to find any Vong. The last Vong attacks Ben'dar but fails to hit him. The last two attacking Raban and Lin do their own attacks. One does hit Raban but his armor protects him and Lin avoids physical contact. The two outside the small cave attack Farseeker and Chion. For Chion they do hit but his chainmail blocks the blow. For Farseeker the blow is wide. From the entrance of the small cave which is now about 5 feet tall of debris, a Vong digs his way out and crawl outward to escape. But he looks up on his hands and knees and grumbles at the new threat. Caladan leans down and pulls the rope free from the dead Vong and then using his free hand he easily lassos the new warrior that is trying to escape. He places the rope around his neck and pulls the lasso tight. ---------- [Time: 2:27:10 pm - Current/Upcoming time] Actions? Comments? Next Update....Monday... GM: Ugh. A small but rough update. Doing the carnage in the pilot ready room was a bit messy and took a lot of the delayed time. On top of that got bogged down so this is why late update. It looks small text wise but lot of work behind scenes (probably 9 or so hours off and on). Since it took 3 days to work on I got a bit off-rhythm. So I hope it looks fine. I got a bit lame on the combat descriptions for this one so bear with me. After slaughtering 30 plus beings it was a lot of admin work. At one point I accidentally lost some of my notes on the current Vong stats (wounds, etc). So had to redo that a bit. Hopefully next week will have time to do 2 updates and better detailed (we can hope). Mana chart file hasn't been updated. Three got hurt but are not critical yet. I will try to work on it before next update and update the file. GM: Situation Report - Arawn - Will assume you will use Fascinate on the human. I believe Fascination was spell of choice. If it works you will need to advise me on what then. Fremea - Will work on some details on the ladders this weekend if time allows. At this point you might only be about 150 feet up out of 800 or so feet not seen much yet. Kiet - Figure you can still use the spell with the new Vong without casting a new. But if it ends I assume recast or see if the others can kill it? Will have about 2 more phases on the spell.
