Once there Fuk stands and glances over the bookcases. "You know your freedom as tenuous. It was obviously arranged by the powers that be." He waves a hand of dismissal before she speaks. Then turns to the Shaman to look her in eye. "We are here for one goal to find the true killer. The murder of a councilman like your father should never be allowed. For Ticasi this is the only such murder in several hundred years. As you may surmise we are here to watch you carefully. But realistically we can't be with you all the time. So here is our deal." "Each morning we or you will give us a password. This will ensure who you are. Not this ...duplicate or your sister. Since it is possible to be taken in the middle of the night we will do one just before bed and confirm that day's word. If you refuse then we will have no choice but to shadow you everywhere." "This password will not be shared outside us three." Lucria from his seat waits as well as Fuk for an answer. [Afternoon - Z'leyra's Manor] For the rest of the day both men lounge and relax. They get a lay of the manor, including its defenses and exits and get to know the guards. ----------- [Decalis 25th, 1634TH] [Morning - Cholan's Tavern] The breakfast is done with the full group now all in Sivas. The group goes and talks about options for travel to the Kameran lands. Fuk sits back and listens intently but does not say much. He studies every person including mannerisms and facial ticks. The man is clearly a keen observer of a person. Without staring though he has the most trouble with Fremea. She seems to comfound him. Not having seen any Fae in his life. She has very few facial ticks and even less body language. Fuk then studies how Cholan and others seem to keep the party in good standing. He realizes he has joined a experienced group. [Afternoon - Sivas] Both Fuk and Lucria depart the tavern and explore the city. Lucria actually came once but Fuk never has been. Both men go up and down the various streets in shops and markets. Both men were assigned this task by Ticasi forces due to their language skills in Marentian. So they have little difficulty studying folks going about their business. Fuk returns to the manor just before nightfall and informs Z'leyra that Lucria will take a room in town. Both men will take different turns in the room the manor. Since Ticasi is paying their expenses it is best to at least use it for public rooms and expenses. ----------- [Decalis 26th, 1634TH] [Afternoon - Z'leyra Manor] Fuk spends the day with the guards not on duty. Fuk shows what skills he has including Broadsword, Hand to Hand, Dagger and Sword. He practices with one guard most of the day with his broadsword. In a rest period one guard asks what other things he does. Fuk explains he makes arrows but laughs when he says he does not use any missile related weapons. He explains his cousins made arrows for their hunting so learned it from them. ----------- [Decalis 27th, 1634TH] [Afternoon - Sivas, Marentia] Fuk spends most of the day getting his supplies. First he gets info from Kiet on that ranch and sees about getting a horse. But he finds that is mostly city horses. So he finds a small market in the east that sells mustangs and steppe horse. The owner says they are even some from the plains. But others in the same market say they are generally from the hills around Sivas. Fuk pays for a nice black mustang with a white stripe running down his rear left leg and a very brown tail. Fuk falls in love for the young horse. He then goes to buy saddle, blankets and other needed riding gear. Then for the rest of the day he buys a two man tent for him and Lucria. He buys a nice large water skin for enough for him of water for maybe just over 2 weeks of water. He wonders how the others will survive on less water on this long trip. He then buys rations as he can live on those as he has in the past. Fuk spends the rest of the day getting various other supplies including winter clothing, parchments and quills as well as other personal items. ----------- [Decalis 28-30th, 1634TH] [Afternoon - Sivas, Marentia] For the next couple days Fuk practices sand improves his broadsword skills. In the late morning on the last day he gets the blade in good shape with a nice treatment ready for combat. ----------- [Decalis 31st, 1634TH] [Afternoon - Sivas, Marentia] Fuk heard about a water festival today and decides to head to the shore at the lake to watch. There for several hours decorated boats and craft of all types and sizes float by. Locals believe this will help their new year with good harvest of fish and fun in the water for the upcoming year. ----------- [Janaqa 1st, 1635TH] [Afternoon - Sivas, Marentia] For the last few days Fuk has obtained as much as he could on the party. Using this information he spends the day asking locals and friends of the party about them. But he uses his investigative skills to do it as quietly and not so obvious. Fuk learns some interesting things and odd things about Chion of all people. To Fuk the man seems to be the most hard to read. Fuk doesn't like men like him that cover everything up. At least Fremea hides herself well but Chion just ebbs confusion. He hopes that chion will not join the party. Above all he learns about Z'leyra and her deeds with healing and the like. Her desire to run a school who even the Royal Healer has taken notice - not so kindly it seems. Fuk is amazed to know that the party has such high influential friends as Duke Valnon and Duke Aren, even the king himself. He realizes this might actually hinder things if push comes to shove. That night in a tavern alone with Lucira they share what they have learned. ----------- [Janaqa 2nd, 1635TH] [Afternoon - Sivas, Marentia] Fuk is visited by the Sivas chief constable as well. He learns about Fuk's presence and decides to learn and exchange tactic and knowledge. Both Chiefs enjoy a long lunch at a tavern with a nice singer. Fuk learns that Sivas mostly deals with visitors like sailors and smugglers while Fuk deals with simple crimes mostly. For the rest of the day both Chiefs practice at a park their dagger parry skills. ----------- [Janaqa 3rd-7th, 1635TH] [Afternoon - Sivas, Marentia] For the next series of days Fuk practices his Broadsword either at the manor or a local park by himself. He gets help from one of Z'leyra's guards on a local Bhamotin sword technique and tries to practice it. ************************* [Decalis 24th, 1634TH] [Lucria's IBT] [Morning after teleport of first group] Lucria has been to several lands before so he is not wide eyed like a tourist. But he is not used to the strong breezes the hills create in this city. Sure he is used to the smell of the sea but not the wind. The first thing he does is buy some nice winter clothing. Lucria then finds the nearest garrison and enters to find the stack of bounties and wanted posters. He knows he has to learn the streets here but a bounty is easy to track with some good coin sharing. He asks the guards the rule on local bounties for foreign hunters like him. He then selects several good possible bounties and takes notes. The worst is a Vahear merc who in a rage killed two innocent farmers when they refused to give him food for the day. The merc even hurt a kid badly. This kind of scum needs to be stopped. Last report was that the man was seen in the warehouse district with a tendency to buy Golan a spice plant mix that is a strong drug. But the guards say they don't have enough men to watch every place. ------------ [Decalis 25-27th, 1634TH] [Lucria's IBT] [Afternoon - Sivas] After the boring breakfast with the people who could not decide fast enough on logistics, Lucria enters the city to shop. He buys a small mustang horse as well for the travel. He has no eye for horses so just buys the first tan mustang he saw. He spends the next couple days buying food, water, clothing and other related camping supplies. At the manor he shows the guards his skills using a whip in one hand and dagger in the other. A guard asks why he uses a whip. "Grew up on a farm with a uncle that used a whip for his animals. I saw it a bit mean to the animals but was fascinated by such a weird weapon. It can do so much. It can attract or repel enemy. It can hurt or just hinder a person. It can do various tasks from gathering things to use for movement. I have several whips actually. Some are simple whips. But I have one that has holes in the leather that causes welts. I have one that is flayed like a 3 way tongue that does massive damage if done well. This one was given to me by a client....it does stuff. Anyone idiot can use a sword but it is few people who can use whips..at least well." ------------ [Decalis 28th, 1634TH] [Afternoon - Sivas] Two bounties are now completed. They were easy for him only taking a few hours each. Easy targets but not high rewards. Just enough experience to get a feel for contacts and the streets. Today though he has learned from a beggar of a Golan dealer that has just shut down by force two of his rivals. This means he is the sole dealer in the docks. Using this info he scouts the dealer's shop which is a front for a pottery place. ------------ [Decalis 29-30th, 1634TH] [Afternoon - Sivas] For the next two days on top of a roof over looking the dealer's place, Lucria practices his sword techniques with shadows. He does not use the sword much but the whip makes too much noise. ------------ [Decalis 31st, 1634TH] [Morning] e The third day waiting for the merc pans out. While the festival is out in the water the merc uses the crowded streets to enter the dealer's place. From the description of the man there is no doubt. From the street the bounty hunter follows the man through winding streets and finally to a alley where the merc smokes the drug. Lucria approaches and demands his surrender. The merc draws a dagger. Lucria uses the whip and snatches the dagger out of his hand and approaches. The merc grabs a empty crate and throws it at Lucria who uses the whip to smash it aside. But the merc is on the move running away and leaping over a fence. Giving chase Lucria uses the whip to pull himself up and over the fence using a tree as leverage. The merc draws a second dagger and throws it at Lucria who is almost hit as it grazes his ear. Drawing his own dagger Lucria snaps the whip as he chases the man. Using the whip he trips the man and he falls. Lucria tackles and binds him with binders the garrison gave him. He hauls the man to his feet and marches to the garrison for the reward of 3 gold. ------------ [Janaq 1st-7th, 1634TH] Over the next week Lucria spends time riding his horse to get use to it and getting supplies. For that time he practices his whip and dagger skills showing the guards and others who might be interested. Actions? Comments? Next Update....Friday?.... GM: Not much of an update for today. For the last couple week been starting 3-4 hours later than I had hoped so that's serious loss time. So I rushed this one out for tonight. I believe next major IBT is Kell's. So I shall begin that now. So next major update will have his results but I doubt I'll have time to finish it this week if I lose lot of time this week. We shall see. These are various options. So let's say ship wagon/horses by barge up river. So let's assume a simple barge doing 10-20 miles per day. Might even do more with good winds. Let's assume 15 on average. That's 40 days. Ok. So shipping ahead of time may not be a good option. :) How about going to Ba'ru and getting supplies there? Wagons? Horses? That is the closest large city to the village. If prepare is done at start of IBT and say a person ships those items (wagon/horses from Ba'ru) to village then would need only cross 460 miles. At 25 per day would be 19 days. Almost in the IBT time period. As GM I'm only trying to cover options. You guys have to do some serious logistics to decide. Mainly the horses and/or wagon/food. To fit within the 2 weeks. Above there are some option as well. Chion if in town could be swayed to help as he could probably teleport 2-3 wagons in one jump.
