"ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz" I imagine Pyan's Quilted armor would be quite warm. GM: Ack. Thanks for that. Yeah. Once yelling starts should be easier to wake up. So you are saying you wear your quilted armor at night? From Kiet: [Re: Actions] Kiet shouts out "Democrats!" And starts madly hewing about and through the yellow beasts. OOC....For those who don't know, in the US south there were (may still be) people that voted Democrat no matter what. They were called "yellow dog democrats" because they would sooner vote for a yellow dog than they would a Republican. GM: Ack. And now you know and knowing is half the battle (ping the music from NBC PSA ad.) From Dorhak: [Re: Questions] So many questions! "How long were you in the Kameran?".... Here is the description I owed you! Dorhak is about 4-1/2' tall, but powerfully built. He is, unfortunately, also disgustingly ugly. Hideous to all, except maybe the faeryr or other dwarves. His eyes are large and brown, and his skin very dark as if deeply tanned. He has long shaggy hair that is normally braided and is mostly grey, but with an odd lichen-green tint. The hair is so long that he often tucks it in his belt. Even his beard is long but only to his belly. His ears are large and stick out. His teeth too. He's wearing a ruddy red suit of leather armor with ringmail over that. He has a good shield on his left arm and carries an axe at his belt, and usually a mace in his right hand. Also, if he wakes up in time, he will grab his shield and mace and help out where he can. GM: Ack. Good description. Do you want to add that to the character intro file? On website its right under the link for Characters of Campaign at bottom. I'll add this description to your sheet. From Unali: [Re: Actions] Unali grabs a second dagger and steps out the tent, directly facing the dog there. GM: Ack. From Mark: [Re: Hello to new player] Hi Kevin,I'm Mark Murtha, been running Ha'Kell for years now. He's the half elf that has been very silent. My work in real life has been a big pain in the a$# so I'm back full time now. (Long story short, way too much turnover in the real world. This last month was a nearly self-imposed thing to help me find a job. shippers!! I like working but if I didn't require work, well, I would now complain. Now back to the game.)I try to be both serious and light hearted and a kick-arse character all at once. Ha'Kal can do some damage in the right cases, but can also just be fun and light hearted. Happy to have new people!Oh yeah, I like beer and food too and incorporate that into Kell. He is a decent cook in PnP, while not a great skill it's fun.Mark GM: Ack. Welcome back Mark. Just in time for Once Upon a Time. From Kell: [Re: Actions] Ha'Kell actions depend on if he wakes up. If yes, then grab a spear and his shield and slap on his helmet, then step out, use his sensing and then cast a Web at max EL to stop the yellow dog. That is the ideal scenario. Other scenarios I need to know more......Meeting the dwarf for the first time : : Ha'Kell will say hello in all the languages he knows, and try to help him feel comfortable. Ha'Kall remembering his first meeting with this party in the High Elders's domain.... [OOC - to Kevin, read way back when at the beginnning of the Vong adventure. Fun times] Then he and Kiet became fast friends, from flaying the traitor to helping prevent global disaster. Ha'Kell still remembers being the new one...Having a lot of experience with Dwarves as he is from Ba'Ru and has at least some experience with all, the trader won't take the dwarf's teeth just yet.......[Lots of things, but to sum up, I had to pause while finding a job in real life. Back, and hating real life with work, Just saying. Mark. Ideal job is being rich and not working, ha!!! :) Feel free to call the trader Ha'Kell, not just Kell, That is what he usually calls himself although family and friends use either Kell or Ha'Kell. ]..... [OOC - I do lots of OOC and other things like references to pop and old culture as much as possible. and Beer, love some good beer. Mark.]...............[OOC ish - Kell will teach Arawn and anyone else Spear Throwing. No cost nothing, just teach it. The more skills we as a group know, the better. He can make plenty of coin elsewhere. he he. [ OOC inside an OOC -Kell is a great trader, so having 1 GC can be grown into a lot fairly easily overall, but still fun!!! and I like OOC. ] Confused? ] Ha'Kell always sleeps with his Vambraces on. I mean come on, his arms. :) Unless he is with a lady.... GM: Ack. My Dw- er minions want to do power ball. So we could all get tickets as a group and I can divide it up 80% for me and 20% for you guys? ok ok!..60/40? So like beer? It wasn't sure from above. :) From Mark: [Re: Democrat joke] Ha!!! :) I think that is funny. But Dave and I email a lot outside the game too. GM: Ack. Just CC those emails especially when you start making fun of me and such. :) From Kell: [Re; Actions] Ha'Kell is happy to have stout, dependable dwarf with the group. He grew up with several as friends in Ba'Ru, knowing just how tough and dependable and near-unikillable they are. There is something to be said for some at your back that is as tough as a brick wall. GM: Ack. Ahem. Don't give my minions any ideas on good words. From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions] Alerted to the danger, Z'leyra grabs her helm and staff, putting on the helm as she goes outside. Casting thru her staff she will close with within ten feet and attempt to use the Abandon spell on the dog least in combat. If meleed she fights defensively. GM: Ack. From Arawn: [Re: Actions] Griffin: If he can collect the 35-40 for a cloak then he'll do that. Junaq 15th 22 am Unali: "A pain? No. Just worried about you," he said with a ... Dorhak: Arawn had avoided interrogation up to this point,... Camp: Just curious, was Sleep Sight in effect? Janaq 18th 4:49 am [Phase 3 + 4] I assume Arawn's wearing some sort of sleeping attire due to the cold weather. He'll cast Armor (EL 4) on it. He'll then grab his scimitar and buckler and head out. If you decide he's not wearing anything he'll cast Energy Shield at max EL instead. He'll try to identify the creatures if possible. If attacked he'll defend using his EL's defensively. He'll retaliate on behalf of himself or another with Sleep Touch (using the Sidh Tongue to boost it). GM: Ack. $0 Feathers. Ack. I have no clue how much feathers are needed. I'd have to research it. I assume SS was active yes because you were awoken. The dogs were not a 'threat' until they attacked thus why they got so close. Technically never said did spell but I assumed you would. I'd assume warm sleeping attire maybe thick shirt/pants since no one planned on PJs or such. Then blankets. ------------------------------------------------------------ [New Stuff] [Janaq 15th, 1635TH] [Zen'da Central Plains - River Sich shore] Kell greets the dwarf in every language he knows. In the end both know bits of Zen'dali. But its broken words since both aren't fluent in either. So some like Arawn have to help translate a bit. Unali explains to the others her curse and why she acted so weird. She had hoped not to be a pain. Arawn speaks up, "A pain? No. Just worried about you," he said with a gentle smile. "But if they could reach you they might be able to influence Aren or others who interrogate them. A few should be warned and the witches searched. They might have collected some personal items from you or them to work their magic." Unali considers this but knows Aren was not on the border of L'p'nth so he is safe. But it has been way too much time has passed so it may be too late to warn others. ----------- [Janaq 15-18th, 1635TH] [Zen'da Central Plains] Z'leyra asks the dwarf many questions mainly on her own homeland since it has been 3.5 odd years since she has been there. Over the next few days the dwarf realizes he needs to answer or possibly make things uncomfortable for everyone. "How long were you in the Kameran?" "Not for as long as I wanted!" The dwarf grunts. "I hoped to stay the winter there working but they wouldn't have me." "What news from the Kameran?" "Not much. I was there just trying to get work in metal. Didn't care much about what else was going on." Fuk interrupts Dorhak, "work there? Isn't that a bit rare for a dwarf to work with humans? Why not with your own kind?" "Why did you leave the Kameran?' "Why stay? I couldn't get what I sought, so I left." Lucria pipes in now, "did they threaten you for coming back? We've heard stories they do that." "Will you get in trouble for going back?" "No. They didn't throw me out, exactly. But I doubt they missed me either." Lucria nods to this answer. "Are you a skilled metalworker? Runemaster?" Dorhak sighs and shakes his head. Humans! They think all dwarves are the same. "Very few of my People actually do that." Fuk looks to Dorhak with a curious glance. "What is a rune master?" He also glances at Z'leyra since she seems to know the answer as well. "While I understand that Kameri smiths make excellent weapons, no one that I know of has a better reputation for iron based metal goods than the dwarves. What could dwarves learn from the Kameri about working iron?" Kell grunts at this. Maybe he should explain about the great merits of the Ba'ru industry. Arawn had avoided interrogation up to this point, focusing instead on pleasantries. But he couldn't help but cock an eye towards the dwarf alongside a wry grin when he heard his answer. "Then why were you there? I thought you had gone in hopes of learning their metal-craft," he asked, his voice pleasant but quizzical. "Ugh! I'm done answering questions." Fuk shrugs but asks one more. "Why were you on the plains walking along the river? What was your goal?" ------- [Janaq 18th, 1635TH] [Zen'da Central Plains] [Time: 4:49:07 am] [Turn 1: Phase 3] Inside her tent, Unali is awoken by her magical scabbard Z'leyra made. She considers getting a face wrap but the tent is dark. The scabbard awoke her for danger. She can hear the sound of running small feet outside? She grabs a second dagger and exits the tent. Next to her she can hear Z'leyra also waking up. She pulls her magical dagger as she pulls the tent flap open and stops. Just 1.5 feet away is a yellow dog? The flap is facing east since the campfire is south east. Confused she sees a second yellow dog next to the other and moving south west. From the corner of her eye she sees a shadow in the tent splayed out by the light of the campfire. It must be a sentry. She is unsure on the time so unsure who it. But clearly the dogs are charging the sentry. Wild dogs are normal in an area like the plains. But yellow dogs what is that about? The dog notices Unali and turns its head. The magical dagger senses a possible tactical chance and knows if the dog enters the tent she will have limited fighting space. For a normal wild dog she might just subdue and feel pity for such a beast. Even feed it. But for a yellow dog? She can't risk the possible danger so has to strike to kill. Exiting the tent and standing now only a foot away she sees Kiet is the shadow sentry. She knows Kiet probably has armor and can deal with one. But two? She can't risk the danger. She swipes both daggers at the dog before he can attack (or so the dagger implies it might). Unali's magical dagger hits but the wild swing by her normal dagger misses the beast. The magical dagger hits the dog just behind his right shoulder deep into his ribs doing 12 points. The dog yowls in pain. Dog #1 just wounded by Unali decides this tall woman is a threat and continues its charge toward Kiet. It leaps toward Kiet but at the last second Kiet pulls out his shield and forces the dog to hit the shield squarely on the shield. The dog slides to the side and downward off the shield. The dog continues to whine in pain. Dog #2 turns from charging Kiet and decides to charge Unali. It leaps toward her. Unali who just struck the wounded dog has her shoulders down and slanted for the strike finds herself in a bad angle for defense. The dog does a bite attack with 2 front paws slashing. At the last instant Unali notices the fingernails on the paws are red not yellow. The dog leaps and does a side ways attack with its back facing outward in a odd position as if it missed to straighten itself out. While the dog is doing this it bites at her left breast and clamps down doing 11 points of damage shredding her breast. At the same time the other left paw slashes at her lower abdomen and missed. But her right paw seems high enough to slice her left cheek doing 5 points. Blood begins to drip down from her face and chest in great amounts. She grits her teeth and the dagger did warn her but she expected the other dog to attack not this one! The dog that leaped toward Unali continues his fall right into the tent where Z'leyra is. It knocks the tent down and slams right into Z'leyra forcing her to the ground. Unali staggers a bit and feels a bit odd. Dog #3 turns around and charges Fuk yet again. But Fuk is able to see it coming and steps out f the way and the dog misses him. Arawn is alerted by his magic and wakes up. He bolts up and looks around. To his left he sees a shadow but can't tell it is Kiet. Then he hears a crash of cloth and a yelp of pain from some creature. Arawn casts a armor spell on his winter sleeping clothes which isn't armor. As he does this he grabs his scimitar and shield. Kell suddenly wakes up hearing some noise. Is Corona chasing yet another rat? He's worse than a cat! Kell rolls over and stretches when he hears a yelp of pain and bolt sup. Looking toward the campfire through his tent he sees a shadow but not sure who it is Then he hears cloth rustling like a tent ripped open? He grabs his spear, shield and dons his helmet. A second earlier Z'leyra had woken up and sat up. Then suddenly something crashes through the front of the tent and lands on her! She can't tell through the cloth of the tent but it has 4 legs? A dog or wolf? Probably wolves since the plains have them all over. She grabs for her staff and helmet but the dog is too much weight and is hard to move around the tent. She pushes upward trying to kick the dog off but the angle is bad and the action fails. Where is her dagger? She finally pushes the thing off her but the tent is collapsed and its difficult to find anything. Across the camp Fuk swings his sword but fails to hit the yellow dog. Lucria continues to sleep well. Pyan the other hand wakes up for some reason. He sits up and listens. His instincts as a hunter kicks in and hears the noise. Wolves? Dogs? Small animals maybe even raccoons or foxes? But only wolves would be brave - or stupid enough - to attack a camp. So he grabs his spear and dagger and moves toward the tent flap. He looks out and sees a yellow dog next to Kiet? What is going on is he dreaming? Kiet drops his javelins as they are too close. Then the dog attacks and he is lucky to deflect it with his shield. Kiet thrusts his tulwar at the dog. But his attack is wild and he fails to hit. Dorhak suddenly wakes up and grunts. He was just having this nice dream about this cute halfling that did not believe in clothing and loved to drink ale! He grunts at the noise and begins to yell at the party for having a party! Dorhak crawls to the tent flap facing west and opens it to see Kiet and a yellow dog? Ok. Who spiked his water with some drug? Its bad enough he's not had ale in weeks but now they spike water! He shakes his head once. Twice. A third time. No. That dog is certainly yellow. Then he sees Unali standing with blood running down her face. Worried he realizes this is something bad and grabs his shield and mace. At least he sleeps in his leather armor since its warm. Fremea wakes up at the noise and sees Arawn at the tent flap and realizes something going on. She grabs her dagger and sits up. Arawn is blocking her exit so waits. [Time: 4:49:10 am] [Turn 1: Phase 4] Unali being a trained warrior does not scream or yelp from pain. But her anger builds as she worries about a scar. She may not be the best looking female but she does need some of her looks for her work. If this dog gave her a scar he will pay dearly. She turns to see Z'leyra and the dog struggle. If that dog can bit or claw through the cloth she could be hurt so lunges at the dog with both daggers. Unali's normal dagger fails to hit the dog but her magical dagger hits the creature in his left arm and almost takes if off. The damage is over 23 points severing a critical vein and causes instant death. Wounded dog #1 leaps for Kiet again knowing that only to him there are only 3 humans here so they have a chance to win. As the dog leaps Kiet raises his shield again and bats the dog to the side almost forcing it to roll onto the fire. Dog #3 leaps for Fuk and Fuk ducks causing the dog to jump over his shoulder. Arawn exits his tent and sees blood pouring off Unali and realize these creatures are dangerous. He would normally subdue and talk to them like nice creatures. But clearly they mean harm and he can sense they have potential for evil. He moves toward Dog #1 which Kiet just bashed away and thrusts his scimitar. But as the blade lowers toward the creature it rolls away and he misses. Kell exits his own tent and moves to help Arawn. He stabs the dog in the back doing 7 points of damage to the wounded dog. Z'leyra feels the animal collapse and sees blood pool on the cloth of her tent. She takes a heartbeat and another and realizes the animal must be dead or knocked out. She reaches around and finally finds her staff but her helmet she can't find. She finally gets help form Unali and exits the tent. She then sees the yellow dog on the collapsed tent bleeding badly. She glances at Unali in concern and then looks around. She sees one dog attacking Fuk and then another around Kiet. But seems like Arawn and Kell are there now. She figures Unali will live and moves toward Fuk to help him. Fuk swings his sword at the dog again and fails to hit once more. Lucria dreams of finding Ems Fatz a notorious bounty worth a king's ransom! Pyan exits his tent and sees the dog on the ground near Kell and Arawn. He circles the campfire and charges impaling the dog doing 2 points which is enough to stop the beast. Kiet notices the dog just stabbed by Pyan is still breathing but not moving. He stabs the dog and ensure it dies. Dorhak exits his tent and wonders why these humans are surrounding a poor (yellow?) dog and killing it. Dwarves are fond of dogs as companions! Confused he looks around and sees one yellow dog near Fuk and wonders if he should chase or help or pet it? Fremea exits her tent grabbing her bow and quiver since her exit was blocked and had time. She takes to the air and sees 2 yellow dogs. Actually this doesn't shock her as the others because she figures they are just pranks of painted dogs. She loves a good prank. She sees one still alive and near Fuk. She flies toward that dog. -------- [Time: 4:49:13 am] [Turn 2: Phase 1] Unali sees two dogs down and one left. She sees Z'leyra Fuk around it. She figures the shaman can handle it and sheathes her daggers and tends to her face to stop the bleeding with a spare cloth. The last yellow dog stops and notices Z'leyra moving fast toward him. Then he sees one on the tent not moving. He cant' see the other at this angle. But he can see many more humans. This isn't good. So in a blink of a eye the yellow dog shifts into a yellow Owl and flies away to the north into the darkness. As the others watch the Owl fly off the two dead dogs suddenly change into a different form. Both change into humanoid with a large belly. The hair is matted and thick on their head and their eyes are now odd slits not normal eyes. The body remains yellow and naked like a human male. But it more ghastly and skeletal. The head is like a skull with no skin and the rest of the body is as if ravaged by hunger with ribs sticking out and bony claw like hands with red fingernails. Arawn stares but he can't recognize the beasts. Actions? Comments? Next Update..Friday??? GM: A decent sized update for a change! I normally did 2 phases but when the beast decided to flee no sense doing another phase for next update so did it now. The yellow owl is fleeing. Fremea could give chase if she want to but unless Pyan grabs his bow or some use spells might be hard to track in the air/darkness. So its probably 30 feet north of Fuk's old position. I am off Thursday so will work on next update Thursday afternoon if enough posts and start by noon Thursday EST. GM: Arawn - Yes you don't recognize it so even your brain has limits. :) Fremea - You have bow/Quiver/Dagger but no armor. So do you chase it though to you its just a owl so unsure what it is or what it did. The others may have to warn you or request a chase. Kiet - Dang guy! Two great Shield deflections get experience. Pyan - Bow/quiver is inside tent. It would take a phase to grab before you could fire on owl if you did. Since actions weren't posted to grab it first hand. Lucria - He still sleeps. Geesh. Unali - Wounds are bad but not critical. Dog just got a nice couple rolls. Was 2 claw attacks and bite. But I had to do bite on chest and claw on head/ribs based on location roll so had to twist the body in a odd angle. :) Congrats! +1 CEL! Dorhak - Welcome to the fun! Z'leyra - The dog on you would've prevented much action so as above. I'd figure you'd not try to kill whatever it was without seeing it (ie exit tent). GM: Unali your the only one wounded 16 points @ 11 for chest and 5 to face. Who do you want to heal you? BTW since I sent the sheet to you and one of those questions we lost when you came back was which horse do you take? So I can figure out which for the notes. GM: Map updated on site for where players are currently on the plains. Blue line from river shows where crossed and where going. You are about 120or so miles to the next river? So that's 4 days at least. GM: Mana/Experience - Chart updated with experience and results. Mana table no updated but everything is correct. GM: Got tons of bounces the other day like 30 of them. Including some going to my own email address. Go figure. I think some sites don't like certain spam structures in email and when you guys send it out it bounces. So again if your post is not in the recap section, acked (if email) or on the game site or game archives then I never got it. GM: Food/Water: Well I finally updated the file. Food is well. But water we have some issues. Food = Humans 15=17 Dorhak - -4 FP Pyan - -12 FP All other food is fine except above 2. Dorhak I don't see rations/food listed? So you'll have to borrow some. Pyan you said in email you got rations don't see any listed (either I forgot or you ate them) so how many did you buy? Food - Horses 15-17 Pyan - -4 FP Since Pyan had no grain and couldn't graze enough he'll need to borrow food for horse. Everyone else did fine. Anyone want to lend grain? Water - Humans 15-17 Dorhak - -3 FP Pyan - -3.5 Both ran out of water due to small containers. Does anyone lend their water to above? Everyone did fine but some balances are low and water may run out before river. Water - Horses 15-17 Here is the bad news. Each horse needs 20-40 quarts per day. I could half that if no riders and winter. But we have riders. So I simply do a D20 plus 20 for a total of what horse needs. Seems fair. When I did this every horse was at negatives. In those days 15-17th 636 quarts are needed. Water skins are not enough for that. So we are back to the big issue of water for horses. I warned you guys about this but most handled the food issue. GM: So with this in mind we need some SOPs. Some have water collection buckets, snow melting and even spells. But I am honestly unsure these items are enough to water over 600 quarts! I will need to come up with some water hole charts and see if there is watering holes. At this point this huge negative does not have this factored. So guys remind me on this sop for water? Tempest and such. I need to come up with some math to see how much bad the horses are water wise. In these days there was no snow to melt. There was hail that could be melted and I'll have to figure out how much but I doubt it will be the 150 or so per day needed. The chart in the file shows the intake required. See the chart on website. Things like tempest will take time from travel and I will need to figure out water amounts. This is why a wagon of water might've been useful. :) Before we move I need to know water sops so I can make a file and run some files. I know folks already posted bits on it. But I want to ensure nothing was skipped. I believe this was from Arawn and Z mainly. But I may have missed SOPs. This should include ALL items and if I don't see it posted then I may skip it for privacy. :) You are free to email rather than post it. I'll move on once I get this info. We are at least 4 days till next river though. So that could mean 600-800 more quarts for horses. If can't read the food report let me know. Its math for me but I can try to make it more clear if needed. I have not processed these sops s that -600 odd quarts has not been processed. This is JUST what horses want. I'll come up with Water Hole and such rules before next update.
