f Post from Mark on stuff From: Mark pnp Date: Fri, 25 Nov 2016 12:44:41 -0700 To: David Sanders , broere@powersandperils.org Cc: Scott Adams Subject: Re: [pnpgm] Fwd: Stuff...and stuff... I agree that Eloquence is very under used in the formulas for PnP. Using the definition from the books and Dave: Eloquence - A Character’s mental dexterity. It can be viewed as his ability to think quickly. Problems that require a person to be convincing in interpersonal relations, think quickly or respond with mental rapidity require Eloquence. \Magic users and magic should be more affected by eloquence.  All the other mental attributes matter, but Eloquence doesn't? Hmm  But speed of mind is very important! It prevents errors, corrects errors faster. and so much more. The thinking is while the users main attributes aren't changed, the person can apply what they have better, faster, and handle changes easier. Some possibilities here - 1. Increase in casting speed.  Increase the Magic User's base Casting speed by their       (EB / 3) RD  or (EB / 2) RD   Either would make a small but noticeable difference and reason to have a good Eloquence.       A. This is the one that I think makes great sense. I would use the (EB/2)RD for the addition to Casting Speed. 2. Increase the Max EL of spells. This is the ability to apply their other mental characteristicsin a better, faster, and more effective manner.  Increase Spell Max EL by   (EB /2)RU  or (EB/3) RU      Either work for this too. I had 2 military based skills, and one used Elquence as the driver. the two skills were Strategy and Small Unit Tactics. Small Unit Tactics had El as an attribute. For Dagger, I noticed that. Kell should be a dagger user... anyways. That fits, as the dagger is small and reactive. There could be other skills too, but not so many of the physical skills. Most mental skills could be affected.  Playing strategy and military games, the ability to think fast is very useful! Those are my thoughts. The PDF is excellent so far, I am 130 pages into it. There was one "cam" that should be a "can" and a PDF reference that wasn't right. I'll add those to a list and send. Reply-To: broere@powersandperils.org Thanks. The EB for Fighting Dagger skill is not a typo. It may be something that we decide to change to AB as that makes more sense, but this change was introduced by Richard in his last edit oof Book I. I wondered about it as well when compiling the books, but decided to leave it in for now. Would like your opinion on this. One that I remember is that fighting dagger max EL is listed as (St+D)/10+EB. EB...? Is that like a taunting bonus...? I think it was supposed to be AB. Dave. Ps...I look thru it some more. Lots to do already. At least  1.3 megs of info already. Once I finish Construction, War  should go fast. Then I can finally be done and move onto other  projects. My thing is if you wan tot help beta test the  project let me know. I know David is already interested but  I figure I'll ask more...  * Lethality Rule    As the Veterans know I've increased the difficulty for things  and added rules to balance the high level aspect of some pcs.  As a result in cleaning up things I re-found the Lethality Table.  I kind of like it. So effective next month we'll be using that  rule. Notice I said not now as this next encounter will be a major  bear so I don't want folks dying. But the table should be on  the website on the above pdf.  * Next Encounter    This coming update will have a encounter as GM I've not run.  This is a v2 thing so its been in game since mid-90s? But this  is first time I run it. As a result the players all of them  have no clue what this 'thing' is. As players you may figure  it out and can read on it. That is a bit unfair to you but  as characters NONE know this thing. Just a FYI if things go bad  this is not personal. I randomize things.     D12 for Encounter hour time (day/night)     D12x2 for Sentries (12 characters).     Only change I'd do is if 2 new players I'd reroll as   2 sentries in this hostile are is needed and 1 old and   1 new person to be fair (since old may not trust new).   So this will be random victims or targets only. Just   a  warning its nothing personal! _______________________________________________ pnpgm mailing list pnpgm@list.powersandperils.org http://www.powersandperils.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pnpgm _______________________________________________ pnpgm mailing list pnpgm@list.powersandperils.org http://www.powersandperils.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pnpgm _______________________________________________ pnpgm mailing list pnpgm@list.powersandperils.org http://www.powersandperils.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pnpgm _______________________________________________ pnpgm mailing list pnpgm@list.powersandperils.org http://www.powersandperils.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pnpgm
