GM: Ack. From Kiet: [Re: Actions] If any of the Zin-like shifters gets close enough, Kiet will fire off as many ring Smokeless Flames as he can. After that, if we don't advance out of their reach, Kiet will use his shield's Earth Strength spell. Even in this gods forsaken place, there are elements, so likely Elementals. If Kell were here in person, he could call up some to fight with us. GM: Ack. From Mae: [Re: Actions] Maelorna can see the flames and the heat building... GM: Ack. ------------------------------------------------------------ [New Stuff] [Febris 9th, 1635TH] [Time: 5:01 pm] [Phase 3] Only 30 feet from the top of the slope the shifters stare at the party members. Then they realize the lava opening and are a bit confused. But this is when Z'leyra and Kiet unleash their magics. Kiet raises both arms and releases both sets of rings. Each one at a single shifter. Kiet's left pinky ring fires and hits the first target doing 18 points of damage as the creature becomes riddled with flames. But the right pinky ring seems to fail. Z'leyra unleashes a fire dart from her helmet and it hits shifter #2 doing 26 points of damage as it impacts squarely on his chest. But both shifters seem still alive and moving. The lava begins to spill through the now open hole. At first it just drips and small lines. Until a large chunk of lava tumbles outward and into the virgin slope and burning the slop as it rolls down. Fremea adds, "Well, that should help heat things up a bit." Looking at the lava as it pours out. Fremea shakes her head as she sees Raki run past her. What was he thinking? Everyone needs to be here, to make sure they can go through when it is ready to let us. She knows that he has helped them a lot and Kiet would be upset if he didn't come with them. She flies quickly to catch up with him and help him with whatever it is. She will have her bow readied. Fremea rushes down the slop toward the shifters. She uses a acrobatic maneuver with her wings to bat them away before they can touch her. She flies past and reaches the bottom. As she reaches the bottom of the slop to ht passage leading away she sees Raki just rounding the corner some 60 feet away. She grabs her bow and then flies after him. Maelorna can see the flames and the heat building up, while she should feel the stifling heat and not want to be here. From somewhere in her mind, she feels more at home. 'Damn it, I don't have time for this, I need to get out of here with the others.' she thinks for a moment as she gathers at the lip of the incline. Watches potential meals gather down below and mentally tells the voice to shut up. She sighs, "It seems as soon as we got here, the hunger has gotten worse than I've ever dealt with it before." she grouses Mae can hear Raki ask for her assistance and gives a knowing smile, "Happily." she yells out gleefully as she takes wing and follows him. Wondering if she couldn't do a fly by feeding, not having had to worry about it before. Mae flies down the slope after Fremea. But she is not as fast as the agile Fae and only reaches about 40 feet down just 10 feet behind the shifters above. She glances over her shoulder to ensure they don't come after her. Arawn while watching the diamond spheres, projection and the runes all at once moves closer. From behind he sees flashes of light but is unsure if that is fire or flame as he is not looking toward the party now. He reaches the same point as the runes. His eyes pinpoint the Sidh runes and reads as he traces his fingers along the runes to help form a concept in his mind of a 3rd image. Both shifters stare and contort their faces in anger at the two that fired the flames at them. They move forward. At this point the lava is minor and can be avoided. But as the first shifter leaps upward a human head size of burning lava rolls out of the hole and almost slams into the shifter. He dodges to the right and into the wall forcing his ascent to stop. But the second shifter runs and leaps toward the party at the top of the slope forming four claw hands to attack at the same time. In his wild frantic attempt to kill something he moves toward Z'leyra but in fact his claws move closer to Mournath, Pyan and Dorhak. Two claws reach and swipe toward Mournath. One claw is blocked by Mournath's shield but the other does hit taking a bit of blood (2 points) from his chest. The claw toward Pyan impacts fully gouging out a severe deep wound on his chest doing 24 points of damage. Pyan falls to his knees unconscious. But before he can fall down the slop Z'layha leaps and grabs his belt backwards to her. The last claw tries to hit Dorhak but fails entirely. Raki rounds the corner and flies after the fleeing shifter who is now a good 50 feet head start down the passage. Z'leyra thrusts her great sword at the shifter and impales the still flaming beast in his left ribs (if they have ribs) doing 16 points of damage. Fuk moves between Kiet and Z'leyra at the top of the cramped space. He sees Pyan almost killed if not dead by now and moves to the shifter. He knows his sword will do little. So he decides on a new tactic He sweeps low and kicks out to trip the shifter. But as his feet impact onto the side of his leg it is like hitting a stone wall and nothing happens. Z'layha pulls Pyan away a few feet down the passage to try to stop the bleeding. She finds he is still alive but weak. The poor hunter almost dying yet again. As she does this she continues her speech, "...lead the others to safety. If someone is going to release..." Kiet pulls his tulwar now at close range and tries to quickly bash the shifter with his shield in hopes to dislodge him from the top. But the shield bashes the creature's head and seems to do nothing. Dorhak sees Kiet's tactics and growls and with a slight crouch pushes forward with his own shield and impacts squarely on the shifter. But at the same time he swings his mace toward the shifter's knees and gets behind his left knee and causes the leg to flinch. This causes the shifter to stumble backwards. Together with the momentum of the shield bash the shifter falls and tumbles backwards down the slope straight for the lava. The shifter splashes into the lava and screams a very animal like yell. [Phase 4] Kiet lowers his tulwar and again raises both arms to fire a second blast from his rings. he knows he used some already so may not be able to but he tries. He aims at the one below that dodged the lava. The left ring fires off but the right one does not this time. The flame hits the second shifter leaning against the wall. It engulfs the creature again and does another 24 points of damage. Z'leyra also tries to fire a second time at the same shifter. But the magic never goes off it seems. No fire dart is seen. By now the lava is gushing into the passage. The shifter that is now lying in the lava becomes engulfed in the lava and takes another 15 points of damage. The lava is now pools that stretch from wall to wall as it pours down. Lava chunks as big as horse heads and as small as small pebbles slide down the slope. Fremea rounds the corner and flies after Raki who is now about 10 feet ahead. She sees the passage is dark but a bright spot is down the passage maybe 90 feet or 100 feet away. She realizes based on the look of it that must be the rock 'window' that opened to the cavern of the shifters. The shifter is now about halfway there. She loads her bow to fire to stop the shifter. Mae rounds the corner and ends up about 15 feet behind Fremea but can see the same thing. This will be a long and hard chase. So Raki needs to stop the shifter from calling his buddies. If that happens all things fail. Unali stares at both shifters in pain and flame and realizes these things are tough to kill. She waits at the top of the slope watching the lava pour out. Arawn finishes his reading of the side runes. "To give fully of one self means willing to devote oneself to the greater good. To pass simply end the magic and move forward. The chosen one can determine level of magic to end. The inner light and the greater light will deem you worthy. " Arawn realizes this must mean what the projection meant. Could dispel the ward fully, partially or what not. These unique wards are not typical start/stop wards but start/ partially end/end wards. Unique to divine influence. Arawn wonders if his own father stood here placing these wards? But could it be that easy? Just dispel the ward? The projection looks own the passage to those fighting the shifters. "It is almost too late." Raki yells out in his own language to the shifter in front. But Fremea and Mae do not understand. The fleeing shifter runs another great span and reaches only 10 feet from the rock 'window'. But he turns and faces Raki who slows down. The shifter then forms wings and begins to flap them. Raki has no choice and extends his arms decreasing his own body mass to half. In doing so the arms reach out and toward the wings and pulls it forward. But the captured shifter starts to emit a high pitched subsonic hum. The vibration can be felt and heard down the entire length of the passage. At the same time the other two shifters at the slope move. The one in the lava tries to get to his knees and rushes up the slope as flesh peels off from him as if he is in major decay from the lava and fire. He reaches upwards with 4 arms. But two of them seem to drop to his side as they go limp. The other two arms reach for Z'leyra. The arms swipe toward her chest wildly in desperation but her armor blocks the damage. The other shifter tries to form into a winged creature to avoid the lava but the cohesion of the heat affects him as well as the previous damage. The creature flaps twice and then falls directly into the lava. It becomes engulfed with the flames and does not move again. Z'leyra tries to cut off one of the shifter's arms as it flails back and forth but she misses. Fuk however is able to hit one of the arms and does 7 points of damage to it as it waves back and forth. Z'layha tries to stop the bleeding of Pyan but it is severe. "Sister help!" Dorhak swings his mace at the last shifter and hits him doing the final damage to kill him. The shifter falls down the slope and slides into the lava burning. [Phase 5] Actions? Comments? Next Update....Wednesday... GM: A short update. Sorry Pyan just bad dice yet again. Your luck is not good lately. :< You are still alive but barely. Now both shifters are gone. But what is the 3rd one doing? I would try to do update Saturday. But there are some conflicting things so chances are slim I may not. So if not then I can try to do it Monday night if able. If not then it'll be next Wednesday. The shifter is only 10 feet from the rock window the party was at earlier. GM: Fremea - You are about 60 feet away from the last shifter now captured by Raki. Mae - You are 15 feet behind Fremea so about 75 feet from the shifter. PMR=X X=10 feet. So if it says pmr 4 then you move 4 or 4x10=40 feet in one phase.
